Male 33 St. Xavier 7
Well, at least I found one portion of your post that I agree with. Great job by Douglas and the Dawgs.....they were just too much to handle last night and seem to be clicking very well. Looking forward to a watching a great matchup next weekend with the Rocks. I hope it is injury free and as exciting as the Bush-Brohm contest, but that is asking for too much I guess. Good luck to both teams and may the victor bring home the hardware.:thumb: To the Senior Tigers....no shame in losing to one (or two) great teams, especially considering the schedule you faced. With my son graduating last year, I admittedly suffered from withdrawal symptoms and alot of mixed emotions in being "just a fan" this season, but I think next years squad will rejuvenate my enthusiasm quite a bit. I watched them most every game at the Frosh and JV level and think the "Band of Brothers" spirit will be back. It should be a great group to break in the new digs on Poplar Level Rd.

St. X family...am I wrong???
    only if the coaches wear them too. I would love to see Coach Walsh's stockings with those cleats.

St. X family...am I wrong???
:thumb: Exactly!!! There was also a player wearing (non flourescent) gold cleats as well but, not surprisingly, it wasn't brought up or probably even noticed because the individual is not the "player of interest" that Vic is and it wouldn't spark controversy. If the intent of this thread is to single out a HS kid (especially because of "who" he is) for open criticism in an open forum then it should be closed IMO. I will say that I am a fan of and would prefer uniformity for unity and perception, but I think that it is up to the Tiger staff to decide what is right or wrong for their players. Besides, the cleat color is small potatoes in comparison to some of the other things I have been irritated by that project the "look at me" syndrome. When the media repeatedly showcases and replays the daily antics of fine role models like Terrell Owens, how can we expect HS kids to act very differently?

A tidbit of advice: If you want credibility....double check what you "hear" from that source before repeating it. Since this thread is about T vs. SC, I'll PM you with factual information.

St. X vs. Male: Who Wins and Why?
My reference was to your "when" he messes up-I think "if" would have been a better word so it is not misconstrued as a prediction of a poor performance. A simple "that is not what I was inferring" would have been sufficient but good luck right back at ya with your prediction.

St. X vs. Male: Who Wins and Why?
Ringtime05: I am glad to see your praise of Chris Wade's performance-the dramatically increased work ethic he developed between his JR & SR year has paid off by putting him in contention for a position that he had previously been close to being written off for. Kudos to Chris for the progress he has achieved. That being said, history should show you that having the strongest arm can prove to be a much more valuable attribute in some other offensive schemes than that of the Tigers. Things like athleticism, running the option efficiently and most importantly making the right decisions at the line of scrimmage in terms of reading defenses & when to audible are characteristics that historically win the praise of the X staff. While both young men have proven to be worthy of praise at different times and in different situations, I think the Tiger faithful recognize and trust the judgment of Coach Wagoner in evaluating which young man is right for the job, thank you very much. The amount of time he puts in on and off-field counseling/teaching these young men certainly has paid dividends for the Tigers and his resume speaks for itself. It is a luxury to have two capable, but not perfect (who is?), QB's. Lighten up on Ben, he and Chris are BOTH fine young men that we are proud to call Tigers

St. X vs. Male: Who Wins and Why?
Please tell me that I am reading this incorrectly and you are NOT predicting a poor performance by a 16 or 17 yr old young man.

Jody Demling out, Jason Frakes in at the CJ? Please read...
Congrats to Jody!!! He supplied alot of kind words and good "ink" on my son during his HS career and I am very appreciative. I have looked forward to his Friday edition predictions for the past few years and always enjoy the positive tone he has shown toward the kids in his overview supporting his picks. This years expanded HS coverage in the CJ and on the website has been second to none and I'm sure Jody deserves the majority of the credit. He is truly a class act. Sidenote: When my son's HS career ended last season, I sent Jody a thank-you email since his work provided so much joy for my older relatives. Coming from a huge catholic family like many others in this area, I would say one of the most enjoyable and humorous things is listening to so many relatives claiming bragging rights about their HS grandson, nephew or cousin's success. Thanks again to Jody!!!

Jody Demling Recap of the weekend
It has been fun watching Creighton progress-he turned into a beast of a DE. Outstanding young man who had a great season.

Jody Demling Recap of the weekend
I guarantee you are correct in that there was extra motivation on his part and vice versa-I witnessed the little extra shoves and jawing back and forth (from both sides) just as you did over the past 3 years-that comes with the territory but does it matter who wins the battle of the trash talk? My point is, why single a 17 yr old HS kid out in a public forum and would you be doing the same if he lit the stat sheet up? Tongue in cheek or not I think it is unnecessary especially seeing the level of personal adversity he has faced this season. You attend every T-X game at every level, so I'm confident you have a good idea about what his numbers have been and it should be irrelevant. IMO Team stats are a different story but HS players individual stats should be off limits (unless they are mentioned in praise). Back to thread topic-this X fan is also a Jody D. fan. I think he calls them like he sees them as well as anyone. Considering this town lived with Pat Forde for as long as we did, I view Jody's opinions being as unbiased as they come.

Jody Demling Recap of the weekend
I stated that there was a third, not a fourth-Creighton Jones #20 DE-secret revealed. I'm sure you were just "curious" about Colt. I seem to remember you posting "inquisitive" statements about him in the past that I am sure were well intended. The young man's whole world has been turned upside down in the past 12 months with tragedy that I am sure you are aware of. It took alot of courage and determination on his part to even play this season considering what he has faced. I don't think striking below the belt is an acceptable part of being involved in a "Rivalry", but I guess you are right-I wouldn't understand.

Jody Demling Recap of the weekend
1. you are wrong-there were three transfers from T playing for X. 2. why would you single out a 17 yr old in a blatant attempt to shed a negative light on him? Considering what the young man personally went thru during the past 12 months, it is a tribute to him to keep playing in the first place. 3. he only had the playing time to provide a legitimate opportunity to put up the stats you crave in two of the five games you mentioned and one of the two he was busy watching 6 point intervals tally up like a pinball machine by the Tiger rushing attack. 4. nothing like winning with class.

So I guess Coach G was behind that too. Paranoia is blissful!

St. Xavier 2006
D1 level Tiger football players that are graduating this season are Justin Jeffries, Tim Dougherty and possibly Derrick Elder.

X's loss / Russell's gain
that is what I thought as well. His presence will definitely be missed.

Brent's dad is early 40's and didn't attend St. X. If he reads this then I'll say at least his gray hair makes him look as if he graduated in 69 which I presume xtiger69 did.

No he never did-the numbness happened once before after being leveled (I think in the Manual game) and that was the primary concern.

I don't see this happening-PM me and I'll give you some reasons why that bridge appears to be burned.

Question about Anderson for avid X fans.
Just a funny sidenote-I noticed at the Toy Bowl that all of the Rocks practice tackling pads (under the home bleachers) were either numbered #3 or #14-Coincidence?

Question about Anderson for avid X fans.
Are you saying Baton Rouge-South? You might have to throw your Vic voodoo doll away after all.

Rockmom, I appreciate your concern and well wishes because I know they are genuine. I was on the sidelines with Dr. Kuiper and Danny McDonald and then spoke with the Doc again after the game and again yesterday. Brent did indeed fracture a bone in his foot on his second carry (lengthy run that was called back for I believe holding on the OL) but they had incorrectly assumed it was a bad arch sprain at the time because he still had quite a bit of mobility despite being painful (hence the increasing limp from that point on). The neck injury was nothing serious-just a sprain and he never blacked out or he would not have gone back in especially since he had two concussions as a Junior-but the thing that scared them was that he went numb on his right side after impact (the reason he couldn't get up quickly). Within a few minutes he was fine and passed the Doc's exam enough to find it acceptable to go back in. The groin injury is news to me, but ironically they initially thought he broke the ring finger on his left (non-throwing) hand too which had a huge knot above the top knuckle after the game. It in fact went down after swelling and was just a bad jam. Unfortunate, yes, but the finger and neck injuries were the result of clean hits and the negative side of the game itself. The foot injury appears to be freakish bad luck more than anything. It is easy to second-guess after the fact but considering the circumstances Ben going in earlier might have helped the cause because he seemed to get more comfortable as he went along. Tough circumstances no doubt but good experience for Ben who I think will be a star before his 4 year term expires.
