  1. Real barnburner. C'ville scored all their points early.
  2. Anyone? Anybody know if this is on the radio and where?
  3. Yell about bad calls, yell encouragement, yell all you want, but NEVER cuss the kids or single out kids for abuse, either way. I was always told that the individuals that feel the need to continualy curse have a limited vocabulary. Pitiful behavior for adults....
  4. Thanks for the kind words, guys. I just wanted to try to explain the situation here this year. I'll be the first to apologize if anyone on or off the field felt we were acting punkish friday. Everyone has a few overzealous fans and/or players. All part of HS Football, I guess.
  5. With no disrespect to PP, many of LC's starters are freshmen and sophmores. Not much bench to clear. I guess what I am saying is that when a lot of teams put in their JV squads, most of our JV squad has been out all night. Not making an excuse for the last score, just saying that our JV and Varsity is so intermingled that it is hard to peel some of it away. As far as "playing dirty", there were some frustrations being shown by some of the Cats in the form of not-so-good-sportsmanship, but to classify the whole team as playing dirty seems unfair to me. Just my opinion. There were flags thrown on both teams for USLC during the second half, but I think that LCA played a clean game. Youth and emotion led to some late but not vicious incidents. I'm sorry that you feel the way you do, eagle5, but I do know the LC folks have respect for the LCA program. Heck, our coach went to college with your coach and came down and spoke to him and us for awhile after the game. I know I saw some of the players from both teams eating together. I have seen a lot of dirty play over the years and did not think that friday would even come close to being categorized as such. Good luck to the Eagles the rest of the way. Could be a rematch down the road. Were you here, Bluto? I had to spot for the PA and did not get to mingle much. Busy night.
  6. Out of all of the games played in the last few years, I actually think this could be one of the most unpredictable. LC is not as bad as their first outing. WCHS is still finding themselves. This could be a good game.
  7. For about the 200th year straight the Wildcats and Colonels meet. Whitley has to be a strong favorite. Thoughts?
  8. NL will be a tough out for Williamsburg. Impressive output by the Burg against Jellico. NL will provide a much tougher test. I do not see a blowout, but I think NL will be able to outlast the Jackets in a tighter-than-expected game.
  9. OK,TB. I now have Clinton County #10 on MY top ten. We'll see how it shakes out by week 6....... Remember, pre-season rankings are like a box of chocolates. Everyone has a favorite but some of the unchosen ones are still going to stick around.....
  10. Williamsburg beat Pineville in a head to head scrimmage a couple of weeks ago. They could be switched. As far as LC at #10 and why, no one has proven anything yet and someone has to be #10...........
  11. Somerset has a LOT of speed. LC did some things well but just could not stop the Jumpers. The Cats youth appeared quite a bit tonight, but many of the youngsters stepped up and showed some promise. Tough 1st game of a tough 3 game stretch but the kids will learn from it. Congrats to the Jumpers!
  12. I'm not going to say LC matches the Jumpers speed position by position, but this year's LC team has some speed of it's own. Line play for the Cats still concerns me.
  13. I think this one can easily go either way still. I'll go with our cross county cousins. KC by 3.
  14. 1st game of the Pioneer Bowl @ Lynn Camp. I think think this game tells us a lot about the whole season for these two programs. Any thoughts?
  15. 2nd game of the Pioneer Bowl @ Lynn Camp. This is usually a good game. Any thoughts?
  16. We were down in Somerset last month for my daughter's ear doctor's appt. and decided to stop at Mill Springs Battlefield. My wife and daughter went on up the trail and I was standing at the site near where a blacksmith's barn had stood. As I was reading the plaque at the site I could have sworn I heard people running up towards me. I looked around and no one was anywhere to be seen. I started reading and it happened again and it was louder. Still no one around. I finished reading the plaque and realized that the area I was standing in was the direct path one of the Mississippi regiments took during a retreat during the fight. It was weird.
  17. I'm hoping for a rematch, too, Ram. Just hoping it is not a first round game again....
  18. Terrible news. God be with the family. Turp was always one of my favorites.
  19. Welcome to modern America. Always somebody else's fault. Want to know something scary? These are the "productive" leaders and citizens of tomorrow in the making.....
  20. Replacing the QB here will be the big question in my opinion. Jackets could be looking at a somewhat rebuilding year but, as always, can suprise us all. Sounds like a lot is being placed on Root's shoulders.
  21. LC has always played a tough schedule. It usually does not drag the kids down much if they do start bad. The Cats have also seemed to get better as the season has gone along, also. Spring practice went very well, but I really would like to see more kids out for conditioning and weightlifting. The talent is there and the attitudes are better. Look for LC to pull off some suprises this year.
  22. I will say this: IF coarse language is the biggest of UK's concerns from here on out they're in pretty good shape. I do not defend the language, but if you walk around in public pretty much anywhere you will hear language you do not like. Also, as far as the language goes, not every kid on every team will be from our beloved "Bible Belt" and will have some very diverse background and will use the language from habit and environment. (There are some rough places in this world not as sheltered as we appear to be.) If these kids are punished, how about the kid that is always trying to push beliefs on others or just has rotten social manners (i.e. "Breaking Wind" which is not always involuntary)? How should they be handled?
