Good win for Central. I guess this would be considered an upset since the Cats beat them earlier in the year by 20.

I wouldn't call it an upset. KC was rated quite a bit higher.

I would consider it an upset, not a huge one but definitely an upset. Even though Central might have been ranked higher, the Cats beat them by 20 earlier in the year and a 25 point turn around for Central to beat Lynn Camp was IMO a huge win for them. LC just could not seem to use all the talent and size they had this year and translate it into winning games.

 

This sets up a big rival showdown on Friday for the district championship between Central and B'Ville, this should be a good one!

Not an upset! LC has only beaten KC 2 times since 1963. Getting to the region is a huge win for any team. You should know that from being a coach at LC yourself.

This is 2010 not 1963 I feel like LC was the better team this year. Personally, I've played alot of games at LC but was never a coach, wish I had of been sometimes though.:lol:

Just because one team was a 3 seed and the other a 2 seed you wouldn't think a 50 point turnaround was an upset? That, to me would be funny stuff. Anyway KC's gym should be packed for the final.

But it wasn't .... Central has been one of the top four teams in the 13th Region the ENTIRE season, and Lynn Camp has struggled to remain in the top 10. Plus like I said, it was at Knox Central, and Central has one of the top players in the state and wins, like they should have.

On a side note, Coach Pennington is the best coach to EVER roam the sidelines at Lynn Camp (for boys basketball), and congrats for him being the winningest, too.

No way this was an upset. Lynn Camp has a better basketball program than before but this Lynn Camp team was not expected to beat Knox Central on its home floor. Sorry to say this was no upset. I will have to disagree with one thing Les. Miller is not one of the best players in the state. Maybe a couple years ago many thought he would be. He is a very good player but not one of the state's best.

Past is the past. Has no bearing on the two teams that played the other night. Not one player that scored 25 for LC or KC in nineteen-sixty-whatever scored a point the other night.

 

If I just go by who has been "on top" longer, I would venture to guess, based on tradition, that we should go ahead and get ready for the Yale vs Harvard BCS Championship Football Game in 2011? By the "tradition" reasoning, both were the Top Dog in college football decades ago.

Lynn Camp has a nice team, I don't see Barbourville being the best team in that district. Barbourville lost to Whitley twice and KC beat them and LC would not even play them....In my mind KC was the best team with the best individual player.

Lynn Camp was #2 seed. KC handles Bville by about 14 tonight. I don't think past traditions play a role anymore either my point was only to show this wasn't an upset. LC is no pushover for anyone anymore. The cats ended up playing KC tougher than Bville. KC is playing a lot better lately. The cats have come a long way and will continue to get better. I'm very proud of all our sports at LC now. Congrats to the girls! Looking forward to Football season this year too! Cat fans seem more excited and united than ever about all sports! Go Cats! The key is we are keeping our kids now instead of losing them to rival schools. Future is bright at LC!

They did drop off for a little while.

 

Florida State, Penn State, Miami, Nebraska, Boston College, UT, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia, etc. were all dominant teams at one time. Full of tradition, too. None of that has helped them. They are still good teams for the most part, but they are nowhere near their old glory. Tradition is great, but what you are doing now is important, too!

 

 

 

 

What I was saying was that, even though Harvard and Yale were dominant, they no longer are. The tradition of football is steeped in the Ivy leauge, but they are no longer competitive on the football scene. Tradition or not, it does not matter what used to be.

 

B'ville was the best team in the district in the regular season or they WOULD NOT have been the #1 seed. KC was the better team post season. They did beat the #1 and #2 seeds.
