  1. ST5, Harlan beat Burg a few weeks ago by almost 20. Not cheering against anyone, just saying the best in the district has already lost badly to the second best in the other district, just as we did. Also, just replying to the "put in their place" comment and how we all will be. Burg is young, Campbellsville is talented but not as talented as Harlan or Hazard. Berea is better but no where near the two and we are struggling. Hazard is beatable but I do not see anyone in the district beating them just to be a realist. Harlan is an uphill fight for the teams in our district. Hazard is a vertical battle. Read into it what you want, but we are weaker than the other district. Not a matter of rooting for or against, just a matter of observation. High School football is all about rivalries. Who on earth does not pull against their rivals? Rooting for your rivals is right there with participation trophies....Ask cnc78 if he is pulling for LC to win out. I am thinking no based on his earlier statements.....
  2. Also, CNC78, if we were 10-0 this season or we go 0-10 this season, and if you were 10-0 this season or 0-10, Hazard and Harlan kill whichever one of us they get in the playoffs. Short playoffs coming up again. District Champ or District 4th will all be the same thing this season. We are "in our place" and holding seats for the rest of the district in a few weeks....
  3. Yep. We got put in our place. Sorry we don't live up to the vaunted district we find ourselves in. Off year to say the least. But, out of curiosity, cnc78, we are 0 for the season. We lost to Pineville. We lost to Harlan. Exactly what IS our place to begin with? Were we awesome coming into this? Were we district favorites coming into this? Did I miss something somewhere that Lynn Camp was going to tear up the football world? Mighty Jackets will roll on Berea and will probably run it up on the Pirates if they want to. Good Luck to the classy Burg fans that I do know personally and that DO understand Class A football! You know that we all have these seasons eventually. To the not-so-classy fans, the bad talent year(s) will come to you sooner or later.......We'll be watching for them......
  4. Not a good situation this season, IMO. Grumblings real and imagined. No feeling of support. Just a bad overall vibe just under the surface of this season.
  5. How is the senior lineman for Burg? Heard it could have been a broken leg.
  6. We have a new Tail Back every week. 3 in 3 weeks. Consistency is lacking.
  7. A long season gets longer every friday for the Cats.....
  8. Bringing the Hammer Down On Opponents? It was bizarre to say the least. We were not intimidated if that is what it was for. We were in awe that someone would treat such a nice field that way, though. We have to fight to just get ours taken care of, much less take construction tools to it......
  9. Thoughts and prayers for the family. Horrible story.
  10. Last night before the Lynn Camp/Madison Southern game @ Madison Southern I got to witness a strange event. Madison Southern has a really nice artificial turf field. As MS began to run out on the field one of the Eagle players ran out carrying something. I thought it was a baton or something. IT WAS A SLEDGE HAMMER! He held it over his head with one hand and preceeded to bring it down hard with two hands into the center of the Eagle logo. Rubber BBs flew into the air. I guess my question is: Is this something that really should be done to your artificial turf? Do they do this before every game? Does this damage a field worth hundreds of thousands of dollars over time? Last but not least, If we play there again can we bring a machette? I do not see how this is something that I would want done to my artificial turf. (I also did not get the jest of the hammer. Can someone enlighten me?)
  11. How many turn overs were there in the game? Sounded like about every other touch was in the grass....
  12. Tight game that Harlan pulled out big in the second half. A young Burg team can use this as a good learning experience as the season goes along. Harlan can be a very tough place to play.
  13. Could there be an upset in this game? Regardless of outcome?
  14. I know the contracts used to have an ammount the teams agreed on if one forfeited. Seems like it was usually between 500 and 1000 dollars.....
  15. My brain keeps telling me that Burg is a bad match for Harlan, but I also keep getting the feeling that Harlan is going to be a tough out for most 1A teams this year. This has the makings for a good game. Harlan will probably take this game over in the second half due to the way they pound you down and Burg being young. Being played at home is a big plus for Harlan too.....
  16. IMO SL has to be heavily favored. After what we saw against Clay last week it will take a super human effort for the Cats to pull this one off.....
  17. Are you going to be in the booth for the LC game?
  18. Roster is out in the other Corbin weekly paper already too.
  19. The Scrimage against Clay County last night made me want to rip my hair out. LC has to pick it up or a very long season starts next friday......
