  1. Interesting, who holds these 3 records? I'd guess the K from the Lorenzen/Smith Highlands era, but not sure. As for the JC v. Ashland game, I'm pulling for Ashland for family reasons. If the Birds are able to get to Round 3 of the playoffs, I sure would like the #1 seed to be gone (whoever it is) to allow for another Home playoff game. If not, we'll happily travel down the AA or to Johnsonville because while it's fun to have a home game in the playoffs, an away game is better than no game at all!!!
  2. Trick or Treat is 6:00 - 8:00 PM in Ft. Thomas (I think). Crowd may be late-arriving, but heavily "sugared-up" and maybe a few costumes as well. P.S. As for the game, could be SCARY :scared:for Madison Central.
  3. If you want to stay in KY the entire time, take 275E, then 471N the Memorial Parkway R or E rather than going into OH and back to KY.
  4. Counting football over the past 2 years and this game, that pushes it to 102-0 for HHS v. CovCath!!
  5. I understand Bardstown is playing at 3:00 PM on Saturday as part of their Centennial Celebration. Any thoughts on the game or the festivities?
  6. Only difference is the varsity BYE this week. Some had suggested earlier that without a game the night before, the JV roster might swell for this matchup. I doubt it, but we'll see.
  7. 1 FTJFL game before (3rd & 4th Graders -- should be a hoot to compare sizes as the JVs come out to warm up) & 3 in Death Valley (5th/6th) before & during -- final games, so kids will be turning in equipment after their games in the same general area where the Spirit Wear is sold; should be high foot traffic because of that
  8. If both are #1 seeds (likely), it would be Highlands that would travel to Johnsonville to meet JC. Maybe we can get CCH's announcers to join us?
  9. Respectful? prepared? thankful? etc., sure. Afraid? Never!!!
  10. For those that didn't click through to the article, the bid process is a 2 yr. commitment, so it appears BG will have it for 09 and 10.
  11. What is URL for CovCath radio? P.S. Is Conner playing? Sounds like may not be needed.
  12. If you want to win these games, you must play flawlessly. That means TD on the 1st drive when you have 1st & Goal from the 5; TD after the interception provides a short field; 1st down at the end of the 1st half at Colerain's 30 yd. line with 3rd and 4th and 1; and TD after Colerain fumbles at the beginning of the 2d half. Didn't happen and there's no room for error when the other team is as good and deep as Colerain. Last 2 TDs were our 1s against their 2s. That said, Birds played well and improved from Week 1. Lots of good things to take out of this game and the experience will do them well. Hopefully, they will continue to do so as the season progresses toward the Pizza Box in December. We shall see. *From an earlier, pre-game post: 2008 Olympics - May-Trainer / Shaw and The Redeem Team win the Gold.
  13. * - 1980 Olympics, Coach Herb Brooks: "If we play them 10 times, they'll probably win nine. But not tonight. Tonight is our time!" * - 2000 Olympics, Rulon Gardner breaks 3 time defending gold medalist Russian Alexander Karelin's 13 year unbeaten streak in wrestling * - 2008 Olympics, Jason Lezak tracks down the current world record holder in the 100m freestyle by swimming the fastest split (46.06) in history by .6 second (an eternity in this event) to capture a gold medal for the USA -- search for it on http://www.NBCOlympics.com Miracles do happen. That's why they play the games. Are you ready for some football?
  14. I stand corrected. The detail above describes the 2007 column. Changing both the classifications and district matchups in the same year made it double confusing. If a MOD can delete my post, that would be helpful in case someone doesn't read the full thread.
  15. So if I read the previous post link with this link http://www.khsaa.org/football/alignment.pdf that means the CovCath / HHS District (5) plays the Clay County / Letcher Central District (8) in Rounds 1 and 2 as follows: Round 1 G1 - 8(4) at 5(1) G2 - 5(4) at 8(1) G3 - 8(3) at 5(2) G4 - 5(3) at 8(2) Round 2 G5 - W of G1 v. W of G4 (better seed hosts) G6 - W of G2 v. W of G3 (better seed hosts) Round 3 (Regional 3 Champ) G7 - W of G5 v. W of G6 (better seed hosts unless tied; if tied District 8 hosts because even # year) Round 4 (Semi-State) G8 - W of G7 v. W of Region 4 (District 6 v. District 7 games) (hosted by Region 4) Round 5 (State) G9 - W of G8 v. W of Region 1 v. 2 (District 1 - 4 games); Pizza Box Correct?
  16. While I don't really care who it is, I think there is merit to JBWill's position (which seems to be supported by LN's facts). You always want a challenging schedule that can prepare you for the playoffs. That said, you want enough games where you are favored to win, won't get beat up and can fine tune some things. While tilted to the "too tough" side for a few years, Dale seems to have found a good balance. The new district helps in that regard. Back to the OP, for plenty of reasons I don't think it makes sense for HHS and THS to play every year, but there is no reason they shouldn't play every 3 or 4 years in a showcase event.
  17. Congrats to the Pioneers on getting a good one. With 2 baseball players (Muench & Towles) and, I think, 2 girls soccer players from HHS, it seems like a good pairing going forward.
  18. Where is the 5:00 PM game to be played today? Never Mind. I looked at the scoreboard which says @ Newport.
  19. How would both schools moving down (CCH to 4A and HHS to 3A, I think) make things "more competitive for them?"
  20. While I would certainly hope/expect a SAT game, it's not a requirement like it was for Hopkinsville. Given the fact that the time change hurt them and helps us, it's a 2 hour swing. Wouldn't be "ideal" to go to school, take a long bus ride, play a game and then come home, but it's certainly possible.
  21. Lip service only from the AD. The message is clear -- play baseball if you want, but jobs are won during spring football.
  22. Last sentence more important than previous. You only get 3 games if you win MON v. NCC. Should be a war. Home court is important advantage. Hopefully they seize that advantage and then fine tune in games 2 and 3.
