  1. Austin . . . Texas . . . My son, the Longhorns fan, likes the sound of that. Anyone know if Cris knows Mack Brown? Good luck to all & safe travels to & from.
  2. Do Roller or Welz move inside in 2009? If so, who is the other likely starter? If not, who are the other 2 likely starters?
  3. How 'bout Eamon Mueller at RB? He probably doesn't unseat any of the other RBs mentioned, but could certainly be counted on to get tough yards and do his job. Grover was a stud TE, but certainly belongs at LB if you can only choose 1 side of the ball. Any P suggestions?
  4. If this was instituted for Rounds 3 & 4, what schools would likely throw their name / fields in the hat to be on the list to select from? Obviously, those close to interstates, centrally located & with good booster support (concessions, gate, etc.) would be best candidates.
  5. In Rounds 4 of the Playoffs (and in Round 3 if = seeds meet) the home team is determined by alternating years. If you had your preference, would you prefer: A - to be home/away for both games every other year; OR B - to be home for 1 and away for 1 every year? For me, I would prefer B. Quarterfinals and Semifinals on the road in back-to-back weeks makes things awfully difficult.
  6. For those "off thread," KHSAA would not permit HHS to move to 6A even if they wanted to. (I'm sure LN was going to say this, but restrained himself.) They were permitted to move to 5A because there were not enough 3A or 4A teams in NKy to make a district. ---------- Back to the topic at hand, do not forget that if HHS wins their District, they play in the friendly confines of David Cecil Memorial Stadium until they lose or go to the Pizza Box, whichever occurs 1st. That certainly will increase their chances of success.
  7. Not sure what the "etiquette" is, but I'm sure the ring companies will take the $ if parent orders it. I would be interested in learning whether this is "frowned upon" at most schools.
  8. From a purely monetary and timing standpoint (leave aside the discussion of whether they help the team as a scout player), what about a Freshman player who was given the choice to either continue to practice and dress on FRI night (no realistic hope of playing) after the Freshman season concluded. As a parent, do you shell out $300 - $800 for a ring? What if you are fortunate enough to win more than 1 during those 4 yrs.? Do you spend this kind of $ every year? When do you wear them and which do you wear? Certainly, you can never count on it, but it does happen at some schools.
  9. But Texas beat Oklahoma 45-35 on a NEUTRAL field . . . OOPS, wrong website!!!
  10. I'll bite . . . what's your criteria?
  11. Who was on the 4 x 100 relay team last year or the year before at state? I'm confident that Head was on there, maybe Bardo as well. Who is the 4th DB I'm forgetting? I think the last 2 games have shown how important the loss of Roller at LB is to a Defense that played extremely well at the end of the season. Offense has really picked up the slack, but both JC and Whitley moved the ball effectively if only briefly. That said, the DBs made many tackles preventing long gains from being breakaway TDs. I suspect film will convince CC coaches that testing the HHS secondary may not be the primary attack plan.
  12. More of the same. Will T even want to win the regular season game going forward? I know it's always nice to beat a rival, but the formula of losing in the regular season seems to be working recently.
  13. Looks "slow footed" to me. I think the Ref is catching him!
  14. 4 key plays in the 1st half: 4th & 6 fumble for Whitley 3rd & long pass to Collinsworth for 1st down 4th & 1 fumble for Whitley Interception by Collinsworth deep in HHS territory late in 1st half
  15. Stream seems to be working well. http://www.highlandsgirlssoccer.com
  16. No complaint intended. Anything we get is better than what we thought we might have. Even if it's just someone holding a phone up to a radio in Williamsburg to get the local broadcast AND only 1 person can get it, we'll at least get that person to post updates here on BGP to keep us "workbound" creatures informed. In fact, if it comes off I plan to make a donation to the Girls Soccer Team (or just to the Boosters if a specific donation is not possible).
  17. That is my understanding as well. I'll make sure the Chair of the School Board hears about it -- I know she monitors this site.
  18. Any idea about server bandwidth or are we all going to be hitting refresh and listening to a commercial for "Mountain Cellular now has gift cards for the holidays?"
  19. Based on the article, I suspect Kody was always a "striper" in the Fort Thomas Jr. Football League. As such, he would have been prevented from running with the football, even on an interception or fumble recovery. Only chance to score a TD would have been to recover a fumble in the end zone. Glad he got to experience the thrill of scoring a TD on a big stage. (Although I believe he is usually the lead blocker for Head in the goal line offense as well, right? Maybe Dale will give him his "Refrigerator" Perry moment if the opportunity arises?)
  20. What about a regular season home & home between these 2 squads? I'd much rather do that than play Ryle 2x in 2009.
  21. Couldn't agree more. If the D can't stop you when you run 48 of 52 plays, no need to be balanced.
  22. How many offensive plays did HHS run in the 2d half before the last drive to run clock? It was a small #.
