  1. I heard Menifee led by 9 at halftime and it was a 3 point game in the last 2 minutes.
  2. Finals of the David Garnes Memorial played last night. Anyone have a score???
  3. Im not sure why people think attendance would be hurt. It is just as easy to get to NKY as Richmond. And frankly I dont think there is a significant amount of casual fans that take a week off to attend the All A when the Sweet Sixteen is just around the corner. Fans from the schools will attend if you have it in somebodies backyard or at the HoosierDome. The bulk of attendance is tied to the teams that are represented, which varies from year to year. As for the number of teams that are participating in the All A that has been beat to death on BGP. 125 of 277 schools is too many. Why not add the 13 teams left out and you would have 50%.
  4. Now thats what BGP is all about..... :thumb:
  5. Everyone likes Cubsters polls. Blind admiration I say. What happened to move these teams up and down from last week? Russell was 1-2 and dropped 1 place. Raceland was 2-1 and dropped 2 places. East rose 2 spots while going 2-2. Lets have some honest criticism, dont just say CUB IS GREAT, CUB IS GREAT YEE HAW.
  6. I want to clarify my "Musketeers - Might dominate an All A League" jab. Made in jest towards the schedule GC has. The kids and old guard at GC know I root for them, I have great friends there. But for a school that once represented one of the "Big 3" in this region, a schedule that has: Jackson City twice, Green, Elliott, Fairview twice, Rose Hill, Augusta, Raceland, Menifee, West Carter, Port. West, and avoids playing Ashland twice has to be willing to take a little needling. Nothing against any of those teams in the list, but a school the size of, and with the basketball history of Greenup Co. should face a more challenging schedule.
  7. That is what I meant. My mistake. Thanks. :thumb:
  8. They have to perform to get the credit. They got out of the blocks slowly just as your Devils have. If the Devils win it would not be an upset. With both teams occupying the 7 & 8 spots Russell would be the favorite since they are at home in The Furnace. If they win decisively they will get a bump in the poll, as will the Ramblers see some downward movement. Since Cubster has Russell 6 and Raceland 10, is it safe to assume that should Raceland win they too would get a jump in his poll? Using his poll the Devils should be a 20 point favorite considering they are at home?
  9. Love to keep the Cub in check. Too much hype with his poll without some honest analysis. 1. Cougars - 2 of 3 this week gives them the nod. 2. Lions (Boyd) - Interchange after tough week. 3. Tomcats - Starting to click. 4. Lions (Elliott) - Can win or lose on any night. 5. Eagles - Playing well. 6. Comets - Jekyll - Hyde 7. Ramblers - We will see how the new Ramblers fair this week. 8. Red Devils - Team Turmoil 9. Musketeers - Might dominate an All A League 10. Raiders - Seem to be getting their feet 11. Vikings - Close games will pay off as season moves on. 12. Panthers - Unknown 13. Royals - Youngsters get decent win over struggling Lawrence. 14. Wildcats (Menifee) - Some talent and a fresh coach. 15. Wildcats (Bath) - Beat West. 16. Lions (Lewis) - Struggling.
  10. Your #16 Bath beat your #3 Elliott. :argue: This region is so close that you can rank them from night to night and it be totally different. Cubster is just as biased in his assessment of the Red Devils as I am my Ramblers. I get attacked because I have Raceland 1 place higher than Cub??? WOW!!! And he is the KING???
  11. Surely someone has another poll? Everyone spends too much time stroking Cubster. 1. Lions - Boyd 2. Cougars 3. Tomcats 4. Lions - Elliott 5. Eagles 6. Red Devils 7. Ramblers 8. Musketeers 9. Raiders 10. Comets 11. Vikings 12. Panthers 13. Wildcats - Menifee 14. Wildcats - Bath 15. Royals 16. Lions - Lewis
  12. Thats pretty much the story. Elliott played as poor as they can play and Raceland shot the lights out, played nearly flawlessly. But alas they came up short. That's pretty typical in this region that the upper crust plays poorly to allow the bottom dwellers to at least feel competitive. Thanks Elliott. Oh and another item to touch on. It was a rough day for the POWERHOUSES in the TOUGH Pool. Lawrence lost, and Fairview, Greenup and Elliott all played just terrible and made the games close to make it an interesting event for those that attended to enjoy. From us bottom feeders Breathitt, Rose Hill, Rowan and Raceland we appreciate your playing down to our level during this holiday season. Thanks. Another note for the Greenup faithful. You might want to save your coin on the trip to Cumberland. Coach Hicks says its a much tougher tournament than this Raceland Derby. Seriously though you fans should support your players and coaches they work tremendously hard, and my buddies on the staff know I'm all about loyalty to the kids and my friends. I'm just not sure what Coach was trying to get across? Is it going to be a long after Christmas for the Musketeers or was this pitiful little backyard tournament not much? Merry Christmas To All.....
  13. This was a neutral floor. Unless Fairview has decided to move all their home games to The Palace. I guess now Fairview would have to win 8 of 9.
  14. Duck: I had been told Blair was out for the year. I guess that was a bad rumor. What would you estimate him at? 30%?
  15. I will add that Elliott has the ability to lose or win against everyone from probably 1 thru 16. Which is pretty standard for the Sandy Hook squad.
  16. Good thing they aren't smaller. New Cath would have been in the road...
  17. It also means that had that game been in Sandy Hook, Elliott probably wins by 15+. Let's see your poll Jay. Do you agree top to bottom with Cub? Or just a fan of the old 62nd District?
  18. I agree that the Devils' once healthy will move up the charts. Though I'm concerned that they will find it difficult to replace last years graduations to get to that region title. Interesting that I got some grief for putting Elliott #6. Normally I have to field shots from having them so low. They are mainly there by default. I don't know who to put above them. Cubby has Russell, West, and East above the small school Lions. Russell in it's present state, I don't think could beat Elliott. Elliott beat West, and East hasn't been overly impressive. Had East not held off a 4th quarter rally against Raceland, they would be 1-3. I am a small school guy!!! :ylsuper:
  19. 1. Cougars 2. Lions (Boyd) 3. Eagles 4. Tomcats 5. Musketeers 6. Lions (Elliott) 7. Comets 8. Raiders 9. Red Devils 10. Ramblers 11. Vikings 12. Panthers 13. Wildcats (Menifee) 14. Lions (Lewis) 15. Wildcats (Bath) 16. Royals After the first two it gets VERY difficult.
  20. Bath Co. 57 Elliott Co. 56 This should be proof enough that Elliott certainly has no free pass to Johnson Arena. Lets look at a district with Morgan, East, West and Elliott and there is nothing certain or easy.
  21. Hokie: Not sure what RH guidelines follow. BUT, KHSAA rules say that you have to be passing more classes than failing. If you have a 7 period day for instance, a kid could have 4 D's and 3 F's and be eligible. But each school decides what they wish to follow.
  22. RickyP: I think ASE is going for the Jugular!!! This is the inherent problem with building a high school basketball team. Controversy, Controversy, Controversy. Let's just hope that the players themselves (all of them) are enjoying the season and their parents make the right decisions concerning their lives. Where is the truth in this saga??? The World May Never Know!!!
  23. Is this a forum to discuss a young mans grades? AND can we take with any reliability from anyone in this arena what a kids grades are or are not. I think it in poor taste and downright wrong to post anything concerning a high school students grades. Unless you be Ryan Williams and Justin Perry who lead their class. Anything else should be kept to that child, his teachers and parents.
  24. Knute: Is it not getting away from the main idea if you don't adjust the enrollment figure to reflect a loss in enrollment in schools statewide? The idea was to have a tournament where your smaller schools could compete for a championship against like size schools. If you have continued enrollment decline across the state you eventually have most of the teams in the state competeing for the championship. What is the point in that? We have that now with the Sweet Sixteen. I can't believe anyone would think that keeping the number the same would mean you are staying with your roots. That is frankly ridiculous! If a gas station owner stayed with his roots and kept gas .49 a gallon, like it was when he opened his station then that poor man has no gas station OR food in his home for that matter because he is BROKE!!!
