  1. Ah, very true. So, was the LCC win over Breathitt a fluke or do you have to figure the Owls have some basketball left to play this year?
  2. And, LCC beat Breathitt a couple weeks ago, by 12. But, I'd move JB down a few slots. Hard one to figure really.
  3. They are 20-2! How many more games could they have won?
  4. They couldn't have done better, you'll be a great addition to what I think is the best high school sports board anywhere.
  5. Actually Jackson used Breathitt's Gym last time so they could have done so this time also but word is they felt like Wolfe would be a more neutral court if they drew Breathitt. They later worked out a deal with Breathitt, because of some of the reasons listed here instead, but the latest is the KHSAA won't change it back to Breathitt because of a signed deal with Wolf or something. Anything is possible so stay tuned.
  6. I don't mean to sound critical but I don't think they would dominante anyone. I liked Collins, seems like a solid player, not dominant, but solid. The big man Collins seemed physically weak and although sort of smooth, fairly easiliy handled by a decent sized, strong player. The other fellow, Short, didn't really register in my memory from the Hazard game. It was only one game, but that is the impression I came away with. As for the Steps? Clark is a decent ball handler but takes some of the worst shots I've ever seen, as if trying to draw a foul on each try. To be for real he needs to actually challenge the defenders and take solid shots. The younger Step has a nice set shot but defense was unimpressive and only fair ball handling ability at this point.
  7. You are absolutely correct. I thought they were Breathitt's last home game but it's Lee. My bad.
  8. I hadn't seen June B. play until this weekend and now I have. I haven't seen Perry or Powell yet but just by the wins and loses over the past couple of weeks I would rank them like this: Hazard (slightly) Perry Central Breathitt Powell June Buchanan
  9. I think you have to put PCC in there somewhere, maybe first?
  10. I think it's at Breathitt.
  11. Blank came out in the first 2 minutes and hit 2 or 3 3's straight for Buckhorn and seemed top put JBS on their heels a little. It was an outstanding game.
  12. I'll go with Hazard and not all that close.
  13. I didn't mean that, just that June Buckhorn got in a position where they had to foul and June B. hit their shots.
  14. Hazard blew out Jenkins, Buckhorn took June B. to OT before falling.
  15. Really good game. Margin is due to fouls in OT, as it was close all the way.
  16. Actually, I think they beat Hazard by 1 on Hazard's court, but your point is well taken as far as I'm concerned. I think Breathitt is a top 4 team also and not because of Smith and Hollon but because of their freshman, depth and the improved play of the Hayes kid (although I don't think he's the top forward in the region by a long shot, but he is much improved). I knew Perry Central would surface toward the end of the year. I've seen Hazard play and they are a solid team. I'm egar to watch June B. play this weekend in the all A at Breathitt. I gave them a hard way to go a couple years ago when they were racking up big numbers on a string of very weak teams and thought they were setting some "phoney" records if you will but I'm afraid they have probably come of age and they very well could be the team to beat in the 14th for a couple of years. I'm glad Breathitt is having a great season but I'm also very aware of their weaknesses and if I am, then any decent coach will be also and if they have the players to do some things, it could be bad! But, I'll hope for the best and look forward to an exciting end to the season!
  17. That's interesting, as in other posts you seem to attribute their bad year last year to coaching. But now you knew they were not very good and expected losses?
  18. I try not to put anyone down, and those other teams have to paddle their own boat. Breathitt is my team so I have a vested interest. Look at it this way, if some team last year had beat a young Breathitt team by 50+ what would your stance be? My guess is a little bit different then now.
  19. People like me? If you had been around more then a few weeks you would know that there is no more of a Bobcat fan on this site then me. But being a fan doesn't mean not being critical at times. And I didn't say starters, I said front line players meaning the first 5 and the next 2 or 3 off the bench. At 3:30 left to go in the game there were 4 front line players on the floor for Breathitt and one kid , Salyers, who plays a little varsity. So whoever said Breathitt played everone 5 min. is just wrong. That is a fact. It does have to do with class and not humiliating a struggling team, but I think Breathitt was going to reach the century mark regardless and that's why they didn't sub.. And perhaps the coaching staff sees a margin like this as a boost for a young team going into the toughest part of the season. I don't know and don't really care but don't get on here and be less then honest to justify something. Or, accuse me of not supporting mountain teams.
  20. I was sort of hoping no one would post on this game. I listened to the radio pre-game and Menifee's coach said several of his senior starters were out with suspensions of some sort. Breathitt kept their front line players in until 3:30 left to go in the game when they reached 100. I wasn't real proud to be a Bobcat fan last night.
  21. Only two starters currently are from the 8th grade chapionship team, Smith and Hollon, which I've always argued that the 8th grade championship doesn't mean anything in high school. And the other poster was correct, Smith, Hollon, and Combs were all "holdbacks" which a lot of kids do that now a days. I will say this, if not for Breathitt's strong freshman class they would be burried somewhere in the middle of the pack in the 14th. I too worry about the weak schedule that Breathitt has played this year and it in no way compares with J.B.'s. Guess we'll find out soon enough when they meet.
