First, if you look back, I was always a supporter of Mike, as were many. We simply disagreed with his offense, but agreed he was coach for the right reasons. Second, the 13 team was tailor-made for Mike. He would have won, and ridden Charles Walker all the way to the bank. Wolford upset the chemistry by trying to make it a passing team suddenly, and bringing in a transfer for QB, whose father was the QB coach. We also started "daddy-ball" which we had not done in the past. Third, the ad for coach states the candidate "must have significant football coaching experience at the high school level or above." It requires a teaching certificate, or eligibility for one, as well as a working knowledge of the educational mission. Reading between the lines, there is an acknowledgement that the no experience did not work out, and neither did the fact that Will was not on campus during the day.

You do your searches, we do ours. It seems to work for every other sport. I am not saying to only hire those with St. X connections. I have a problem with that to be frank.

No. They are saying we are a high school, and not a college. Simple as that. It is called perspective.

I am quite confident there will not be a national search, unless there has been a change of heart. Several years ago I had this conversation with the powers that be, and was reminded that this is a high school, not a college. Really don't have any clue. Todd Walsh will be part of any consideration. There have been non Catholic head coaches at X, just not football, at least that I am aware of. If not Catholic, I am quite confident that your core principles better align with those of Catholicism. Mike is probably 65. They need to bite the bullet and ask Mike to be on the search committee. I believe there was one for when Mike left, and, if memory serves, Wolford chaired it and asked for the job himself.

On a somewhat related note, this year the Tigers had a great season overall in the Fall sports. Two championships: Soccer and Cross Country; Two State runner ups: Football and Golf. Go Tigers!

I can think of three transfers. I suspect there are more. Colt Totten, Creighton Jones, Matthew Stein. Ready to move on from Wolford experiment. Next year will not allow for any excuses.

Just a sidenote. The 2005 game turned when St. X QB, Brent Curley, went out with injury early, and X was forced to play with a sophomore QB. Should have won that game. Even so, came down to just about the final play. An awful lot of ground to make up this year.

Did this for about 20 years, and now notice in certain games that some guys are just not up to par to call certain games when your whole season is workin A, AA, or AAA games. The size and speed at the 5A, and especially the 6A are different. Also, X and T are taught to play til the whistle blows. I've seen late hit calls, which were not, because of this.

Just hard to fathom. My prayers to Coach and his family, and I hope the little ones make it OK. This puts things in perspective.

I like Todd, but no. Need someone with HC experience. This is not a training program. I like Lefors, because he brings an offensive mindset, and hopefully the return of more of the skilled athletes which we have lacked for some time. I have no problem with most of the assistants, particularly those held over from Mike. This needs to be an athletic decision, with approval from the administration, not the opposite.

As I have said before, it is time for the Wolford experiment to end.

I think it's an opportunity to get to play the guys that don't get much playing time. It's not beyond Donhoff's thinking either to split a gate and help another school out.

I just think that it is important that we maintain a good relationship with the public schools, particularly out in the state. Several years ago, the Jefferson publics refused to play us in any sports because of an issue over scheduling. This was a decision from the top, not the schools. The public schools in the state were playing us so we could fill out a schedule in each sport. I think that we've always remembered that. I think we have a good relationship now with the Jefferson publics.

I haven't been to a X-BG game, but I have to state that I have seen nothing but good sportsmanship shown on here between the schools. Don't know Wallace's beef with X. Assuming that X was about to score again, and intentionally didn't, then I am proud of the coaching staff.

This was done in the 60s when I played for sure.

Looking at SK passing stats, what happened to X defensive secondary?

Are they coming this year?

I know the family. I hope all goes well. They are "good people" in general.

I don't totally disagree, but remember that Joe Bergamini was let go, and his Father was one of the largest donors, and also served on Board of Directors.
