Johnson Central/Mason County predictions
I would say last year that was the case but not this year. Case in point...last Friday against Ashland Grimm gained major yards between the tackles. Actually, most of his runs were between the tackles.

Johnson Central/Mason County predictions
This game scare's me. Mason County is very capable of beating Johnson Central especially if the Golden Eagles have a mental letdown. I don't believe this will happen but it is a possibility. The one thing that makes me feel a little better about this game is that the win over Ashland was a blowout and not a nailbiter. The game was never really in doubt. Therefore, while it was an emotional high to beat a rival like Ashland, the emotions are different than they would have been in a close game. Those emotions are draining and are hard to overcome. The emotions that come with a blowout can be easily overcome with good coaching. All in all, I believe JC fully understands what is at stake and will not have a letdown. But, you never know...we are dealing with high school players. My Prediction... JCHS 28 MCHS 14

Haven't heard any excuses yet. Actually, the Ashland fans that have posted have just congratulated JC. Ashland is a good team...just faced a better one tonight. One question...does anyone know what the Ashland players yelled toward the JC players during their stretches? Just wondering.

The man in charge of the music is Todd Conley. He does an excellent job.

The score was really not indicative of how much Johnson Central dominated this game. It could have easily been a 5 touchdown margin if not for back-to-back penalties on JC inside the Tomcats' 5 yard line late in the third period. This was definitely a statement game for the Golden Eagles.

Domination. That is the only applicable word for Johnson Central's performance tonight. This game was never indoubt from the first play of the game in which Grimm took it about 75 yards for the score. I was impressed with Ashland's QB. He looked good tonight. The Tomcat's o-line also played well, giving him all day to throw. JC's secondary really stepped up with about three interceptions. The thing that surprised me tonight was the play of Matt Thomas. He was highly touted coming into this game. And after getting hit in the mouth he seemed to not want the football. He was tentative, dancing around in the backfield and looked as though he was afraid to hit the hole hard. Great performance by the Golden Eagles.

Johnson Central vs. Ashland part 2
I am heading out to the game now. I would love to meet some of you guys...especially the guys (and gals) from Ashland. That way I would know who I am arguing with. I will tell you how to find me. Look for the best looking guy in the stadium. When you find him he will be able to tell you where I am...I told him where I would be sitting. :thumb:  Good luck Tomcats. Go Eagles!!!!!

Johnson Central vs. Ashland part 2
A few thoughts on tonight's game... I really have a good feeling about this game. I usually am pretty reserved and cautious about making bold predictions about a JC win against a quality opponent like Ashland. With that said, I honestly believe that the Golden Eagles have a good shot at beating Ashland by 2 or more touchdowns That is not a shot at Ashland...I believe they are a really good team. However, I also believe that JC has one of the best AAA teams the mountains has seen in a while. One thing JC has to do tonight is play tough between the 20s. Most, if not all, of the opponents JC has faced this year, have considered anything inside the JC 30 yard line 4 down territory. If Ashland gets inside the JC 30 they will more than likely put points on the board. JC has done an excellent job of giving their opponents poor field position to start drives. This is going to be key again tonight. Barrett must continue to boom the ball on kickoffs and not give Ashland a short field to work with. My prediction... Ashland 20 JCHS 38

Jimmys and Joes--X's and O's
With the advances made on the X's and O's side of things, I believe that the biggest difference between today's athlete and athletes of the past is football IQ. It seems that a lot of todays players have a deeper understanding of the new offenses and defenses. And, that comes from coaching. Teams' attacks are much more intricate than they used to be and that, in my opinion, is the biggest difference. Conceeding the fact that players are bigger, faster and stronger, I believe that players are just smarter...in terms of football IQ.

Johnson Central vs. Ashland part 2
As Johnson Central fans, we need to leave last year's game exactly where it is...in the past. We are starting to sound like a bunch of whining grade school kids by continually talking about last year's game. Whether the kick was good or not is irrelevant. The official said it was wide so it was wide. This is going to be a great game. One in which I believe Johnson Central has the opportunity to send a message to the rest of the state that they will be hard to deal with come playoff time. So, forget last year's game. Get over it and let's all enjoy Friday night.

Johnson Central vs. Ashland part 2
The T-Shirts are not making fun of JC. Some of the Ashland fans are just taking advantage of the opportunity to fire a shot across Johnson Central bow. Actually, I think it is rather clever.

Johnson Central vs. Ashland part 2
This is quickly turning into one of the best rivalries in the state. Both sides have great fans, good programs and supporters who have the ability to talk a little smack (some better than others). I can't wait to watch these two teams square off. I just hope the JC fans get there early. It would be a shame for Ashland fans to get all the good seats...lol.
