  1. Good observations. Of course, things will play out as the season progresses, but I am a little leary of the lack of playoff experience on the part of Johnson Central. The Golden Eagles have only one playoff game under their belt since 2000. The bright spot is that it was last season and these players were a part of it. Still, the other teams you mentioned are used to big playoff games which is a huge advantage. However, I believe that if there is any coach that can get an inexperienced playoff team ready it is Jim Matney. Not trying to be a downer here...just trying to be realistic. But, a Regional final appearance would suite me just fine.
  2. With all of the talk JC fans have been doing (myself included) I sure hope you are right. This is still a relatively young team. That would be a mighty big mouthful of crow to have to swallow.
  3. I haven't heard anything definite either way but from all accounts that knee looked terrible last Friday. If this South Point team is as bad as everyone says it would probably be good to rest him one or maybe even two more weeks. There are three more games before JC gets into district play. After all, those are the games that really matter.
  4. You are right on the money. 10 to 15 throws per game may be the max he will get in this offense so he needs to make the most of his opportunities. I look forward to watching him this season as he matures. It will be fun.
  5. Are you talking about the Highlands player or #7's ankle? Both look painful.
  6. I think Johnson Central will have their way with South Point. However, the thing that intrigues me the most is how JK Ratliff will play. With all of the attention the South Point QB is getting, I wonder if there will be any college scouts in attendance. If that is the case, it could be a great opportunity for JK to begin to make a name for himself in the eyes of some colleges. Now, before some of you begin to jump my case for saying that Ratliff is a top college prospect...that is not what I am saying. However, he does have a college frame (6'4 or 6'5") and a really strong arm. This could be a plus or it could be a negative depending on how he responds to the pressures of having scouts in the stands if there are any there. Does anyone from JC have any knowledge of colleges which have indicated they will be in attendance?
  7. Les has had a problem with Johnson Central since the 2000 season when South Laurel was defeated at Johnson Central during the Golden Eagles' perfect season. So, personally, I don't put a lot of stock in what he has to say.
  8. Settle Down? I just asked for an updated score...with all of the changing threads I didn't know if it had changed.
  9. That was not a typo. Matney said it was a $15000 package. I believe it was part of the Touchstone Energy Bowl being played this week.
  10. You might want to do that...check the map that is. Columnus is the same travel time as Louisville. BTW, is Louisville even considered part of KY anymore? I thought all that red meant that it was annexed as part of IN.
  11. I believe it had to do with the KHSAA moving Johnson Central three out of four years...or something like that. I believe the conflict arose with Greenup County as the Apple Bowl week was the only date they had available.
  12. Believe it or not....this actually is one case of a scheduling conflict.
  13. This coming from a man with four first names...lol...why is it so hard to stay on topic? The fact is that a lot, not all, but a lot of teams refuse to play Johnson Central. Whether Johson Central loses in the first round of the playoffs has no bearing on whether or not teams will play Johnson Central. It's really not that hard if we all concentrate.
  14.   A PERFECT example of missing the point.
  15. Those are the same teams that I have heard too. Some teams will say that Johnson Central's size is a factor....but, like you said, these same teams had no problem playing the larger school when a "W" could marked down in the preseason.
  16. I don't know how many of you heard Matney's comments before the North Laurel game Friday. But, I wanted to get some thoughts on his comment that other East KY teams were dodging the Golden Eagles. He said that it has been tough finding local teams that were willing to play Johnson Central. Apparantly one school turned down a $15000 package. It seemed out of the ordinary for a coach to call out other teams like that. What do you guys think? Personally, being a Johnson Central fan, I like the confidence being displayed by the Golden Eagles.
