  1. This team is young pure and simple. A veteran team really isn't bothered by away games but young players sometimes are. Having your first five games of the season all away would strain a veteran team much less a team that starts so many soph's. It is widely held around here that the best three classes in the program are 8th, 9th and 10th grade. I do think there is a slight talent lull right now but it's not as bad as people think. The one thing people do not realize is that our past QB's were not products of the offensive system they were indeed very, very good. B. Johnson (who did not win a ring), Duggins and Brandon Smith were exceptional. I think were are spoiled because of this. One last thing and I will shut up. They are averaging 4 turnovers a game and have been in every game except Henry Clay. Thats hard to do. One more thing I shouldn't say but I will. I sure wish Coach Pardue was still calling the plays.
  2. The offense hasn't, how should I say it, flowed this year as in past years. It has been effective in most games but has not been smooth. Inconsistant play on the line and in the backfield has kept the team from really getting on a roll. I said it last week and I think it still holds true. This team fights very hard and works as hard as past boyle teams they just fail to execute on the level that past teams have. I think their youth has a lot to do with that.
  3. Football 101 boys and girls. If you ever needed an example of what turnovers do to a football team just look at B.C. this year. Throw away the Henry Clay game and Boyle could very honestly be 4-1 instead of 1-4. The teams that beat us deserve some of the credit for causing the turnovers I know that. But boyle has without a doubt been their own worst enemy this year.
  4. He was on the trainers cart last week with ice on his knee and did not play against Lafayette. Do not know about this week. I can possibly find out tomorrow if he is practicing this week or not. Last week they said it could be a couple or three weeks but I don't know yet. Will keep you updated.
  5. I guess I have to make a pick. until Boyle shows they can defend the pass I will have to pick Mercer. I think rushing is mercer biggest attribute but they can throw also. Sorry guys. Boyle--24 Mercer Co. All Star team--35
  6. I have to say one thing about your post. I know it was meant out of respect for the program but the rebels have not fallen prey to bad luck this year. What they have fallen prey to is poor execution. The effort has been there and they are playing and fighting very hard. That understood, you still have to execute. They are young and inexperienced and need to grow quickly. I like this team because they do not quit but they have to start making the play.
  7. Before you fall out of you chair you need to know that not every Boyle fan roots for the Ads. Don't buy that tye dye VW van with the peace sign on it just yet.
  8. I agree about the tough schedule but this team has a major problem with it's pass coverage. Although the offense never seems to look fluid, they did not punt once last night. They either scored or turned it over after driving a few plays. Run defense is good but not great and they cannot defend the pass or have not yet. Period.
  9. I agree. They really struggle shooting from the outside and never really found a PG last year. I think they struggle to be 500 this year personally. Lincoln can shoot the ball and return several guys.
  10. I happen to have heard that it has been asked of the football boosters to attempt to raise 600,000 to replace the field with turf by next season.
  11. Must be a politician! Just some info by the way. I believe I saw a Tamme sitting out practice with ice on his knee today.
  12. Actually most of us knew what a pancake block was. Our questioning came as a result of no one agreeing with you.
  13. I really do not agree with the pancake reference:confused: Almost all of D-villes ground yards on those spread plays to the outside. Both teams pass protection seemed good and Dvilles lb's are tough but I thought the line play was pretty even.
  14. I was at the game last night and have a couple of things to say. 1. Congrats to D-ville the team that puts the most points on the board wins. 2. Their D-fense is the key to their season. They played very well up front last night. #21 was very impressive. He is small but plays BIG. 3. They had better improve their secondary or someone(else) will burn them. Boyle Co. 1. There is no excuse after getting one punt blocked and another that should have been blocked at Harrison to continue to let that happen. I know Danville has to get some of the credit, and they should, but it should happen once and that's all. 2. Both teams came to play and played hard but both secondary's need work. 3. Boyle's offense seems to be improving.
