  1. With the advances made on the X's and O's side of things, I believe that the biggest difference between today's athlete and athletes of the past is football IQ. It seems that a lot of todays players have a deeper understanding of the new offenses and defenses. And, that comes from coaching. Teams' attacks are much more intricate than they used to be and that, in my opinion, is the biggest difference. Conceeding the fact that players are bigger, faster and stronger, I believe that players are just smarter...in terms of football IQ.
  2. As Johnson Central fans, we need to leave last year's game exactly where it is...in the past. We are starting to sound like a bunch of whining grade school kids by continually talking about last year's game. Whether the kick was good or not is irrelevant. The official said it was wide so it was wide. This is going to be a great game. One in which I believe Johnson Central has the opportunity to send a message to the rest of the state that they will be hard to deal with come playoff time. So, forget last year's game. Get over it and let's all enjoy Friday night.
  3. The T-Shirts are not making fun of JC. Some of the Ashland fans are just taking advantage of the opportunity to fire a shot across Johnson Central bow. Actually, I think it is rather clever.
  4. This is quickly turning into one of the best rivalries in the state. Both sides have great fans, good programs and supporters who have the ability to talk a little smack (some better than others). I can't wait to watch these two teams square off. I just hope the JC fans get there early. It would be a shame for Ashland fans to get all the good seats...lol.
  5. Actually, I think you have it about right.
  6. UMM...I believe the Tomcats travel to Johnson County next week.
  7. I figured this score would be much more lopsided.
  8. 50-0 vs. 49-7...I can see how the disparity in those two scoring margins could shock you. :thumb:
  9. Now it's Letterman... :madman: :madman: :madman:
  10. I got Frinday Night Lights as well
  11. That may be true...but I really don't think it will matter. Ashland will roll in this one.
  12. I won't be so bold as to say JC can win state...but the district shouldn't be much of a problem.
  13. Considering the speed at which the new Cal Ripken fields were completed this spring, I would think that the new facilities...at least the football field and stadium...would be completed by next season.
  14. I agree. I would love to see JC beef up its schedule in the near future. But, we play the cards we are dealt and all JC can do is beat the teams that are on the schedule. It's not really Johnson Central's fault that the district is so weak, Just take care of business on the field boys and this will be a season to remember.
  15. Hey...maybe it will be a dome facility and they can call it "The Big O"
  16. The clock continues to run even in between quarters...never seen that before
  17. Grimm scored from 20 yards out...extra point is good 256 yards 6 TD JC 56 PHS 0
  18. 3rd quarter about half over...running clock...JCHS Driving...on the Tigers 20 yard line JC 49 PHS 0
  19. From the information given before the Apple Bowl, both the football field and the baseball field are going to be rotated. Both fields will have turf. The impression I got was that everything was going to be torn down and built again. I can guarantee you one thing though...it will be nice!!!
  20. That kind of stuff always happens as you know. I'm not saying it's right...I'm just saying it's part of the rivalry.
  21. Personally, I would not go that far. But, I hope we get the chance to find out. :thumb:
