Mason County 45 Lawrence County 6

Featured Replies

Great game by the Royals tonight. This game was Mason after the Half as they out scored Lawrence 32-0 in the 2nd half and basically left the Dogs without much of even a first down in that 2nd half. One of the biggest difference in this game was Mason could pass and Lawrence absolutely has no passing game as i believe they didn't complete a pass.:dancingpa Know on to the biggy next at Home against Johnson Central on Senior nite.Royals improve to 7-2 on the season.

By the way the field was as sloppy and muddy as Ive ever seen this field and Ive seen about every game played there. It was really bad.

Complete domination by the Royals in the second half.

Game highlights - Royals return the opening kickoff for a touchdown, 13-16 passing by Cox in the slop with two TDs to Darius Miller, a fumble recovery in the end zone by D Robb, and a blocked punt that led to a TD. Nice deep kickoffs also by the Royals, forcing the Bulldogs to march 75 or 80 yards through the mud nearly every time. Lawrence County completed 1 pass for 7 yards the entire night.

Finally that "complete game" the Royals have been looking for - offense, defense and special teams. Great game!

Although the Royals aren't complaining, some of that was weather and some was having to play several soccer games in the rain the past two weeks on the football field.

What was up with the field was it the Soccer that was played there that messed it up that bad.

Congrats Mason County...I hope to see some of you guys next week. I am planning on making the trip.

There was a lot of Fumbles in the mud tonight also.

Looked to me like Lawrence County dressed somewhere between 29-32 players (it was hard to tell in the mud who was dressed and who wasn't from across the field). Are their numbers down that much, or do they just not travel with anywhere near a full squad?

No there # are way down. That was about the # of players they had when they were home against JC earlier this year. Right now are bad times in Louisa.

Thanks JC, I wasn't sure - just seemed unusual that LC would travel with fewer than Frankfort, a 1-A school.

Mason Co. doesn't have turf yet??? I'm surprised.

Or was the game at Lawrence Co.?

I know some turf guys, you should have people contact me if needed.

Thanks to the Royals for answering an earlier post I titled Mason County Royals Question??? You answered alot of questions by playing 4 quarters of Mason County football in the mud!!!!!! It was good to see the Royals playing 4 quarters of kick-butt football. (No disrespect to Lawrence County) Now let's step up and build on this for next week. Gooooo Royalssss!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper:

Don't be - Mason County may have just about the finest basketball facility in the Commonwealth, but every other sport plays second fiddle, including football. That is evidenced by the fact that boys and girls district soccer games and girls regional soccer games were played in the rain on the football field. There was absolutely no chance for the field to be anything but a mud hole last night.

Field turf would be nice; maybe after this week's laundry bill will convince the powers-that-be that it's economically viable!

A couple more notes on the game - penalties were kept to a minimum; I think there were only 4, and 2 of those were for offsides on kickoffs.

You know you've had a good game when about the only negative you can point to is only being 3-7 on point afters. The last one would have given the Royals a running clock with over 7 minutes left in the game.

Toughest game of the season for the Royals will be this Friday against JC on senior night with first place in the district on the line.

Congratulations to Mason Co. on the impressive win.

Now you get Johnson Central at home. Here's hoping you get the upset. :thumb:
