  1. I'm starting to believe that the officials are hearing the chatter and are paranoid about trying to get the calls right, which actually makes the fans on both sides question them more. It also takes away the rhythm of the game.
  2. It's still open, closes some time in October for the season.
  3. Grass, although the field is in good shape and drains very well.
  4. The long bus ride could be a negative factor, but the Corbin starters did not play in the second half of the Pulaski or Whitley Co. games, so that shouldn't be a factor.
  5. There was a questionable call from that crew that benefited Corbin on their game winning TD drive. Corbin ran an option play and the QB received a big hit a second or two after he pitched the ball and the White Hat called a personal foul, which gave Corbin a 1st down when they would have been facing 3rd and 10 around their own 45. I guess you could call a penalty on that, but it seemed kind of harsh to me. There was also a pass interference call on the same drive, although it seemed like an obvious call due to the defender making a hit on the WR before the ball arrived.
  6. King Buffet would be off of Exit 29 instead of Exit 25. Smokey Bears BBQ is also a good place to eat off of Exit 29.
  7. Corbin had some problems with a player or two who were not dirty players, but were very aggressive and would tend to get some personal fouls called on them for not letting up quickly enough. I would recommend a couple of different places on Main St., which is really close to the stadium, one is called Wrigley's Taproom and the other is Depot on Main. If you like buffets, a lot of people think that Bubby's BBQ is the place to go, although it's on the south end of Corbin off of exit 25.
  8. I wasn't at last years game, but the radio announcers said that Corbin had 19 penalties to Beechwood's 3. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. I asked one of the asst. coaches if they got homered and he said not really. Other than a really bad pass interference call, he said most of the other penalties were more the result of the Corbin players not adapting to the way the officials were calling and Corbin being a little unfocused.
  9. Corbin losses at home in 2015: Danville 20 - Corbin 0 Knox Central 36 - Corbin 0 Southwestern 14 - Corbin 10 Played the same teams on the road the following year (2016) Corbin 28 - Danville 7 Corbin 39 - Knox Central 0 Corbin 20 -Southwestern 8 Wait a minute, maybe we are actually getting a better whistle on the road.:idunno:
  10. Maybe Coach Smith retired and I missed it;), otherwise Boyle County is still #1.
  11. They do not have anyone who starts on both sides of the ball, however they do occasionally bring a couple of guys over to the offense in certain situations.
  12. Corbin jumped out to a 47-7 lead at the half and let the subs play the entire second half. Estep threw for approximately 350 yards in the first half in the rain at Pulaski Co. Next week will be good for the Hounds as Beechwood comes to town.
  13. Estep 347 yards passing in the first half along with 47 rushing. Corbin has over 500 yards offense at the half.
  14. Massengill runs it in from 50+ to score his first varsity TD for Corbin, score now 47-7 at the half.
  15. Kidd with his first TD run for Corbin. Score now 41-7 Corbin with a minute plus left in the half.
  16. Estep with a 70 yard TD run called back. The second long TD run he's had called back. Now 3rd and 40 for the Hounds.
  17. Freshman Longmire with a 63 yd TD run to make it 34-0 Corbin with 10 minutes left until the half.
  18. Estep with 2 TD passes to Steely around 60 yds each and another to Gosslein of 53 yards.
  19. Corbin up 28-0 late in the first quarter.
  20. Corbin 35 - Pulaski Co. 28
  21. It appears to me that the top 4 of Boyle Co., Central, Belfry and Corbin have looked the part as the top of this class, with Lex Cath and Tilghman looking to get into the mix.
  22. $2.489 in Corbin today
  23. Someone in the Corbin School System told me that the boys had a participation percentage of over 40% and the girls over 30% in the KHSAA sports, which seems pretty good to me. I believe kids are a lot less active in non-organized type sports and activities, but organized sports seems to still be rolling along ok.
  24. When Corbin had to replace their safety last year in the playoffs, I was really hoping to see Estep in that spot on defense in the finals. He is a difference maker wherever he plays.
  25. I'm with you on this being a high scoring game. This will be a good test for the Redhound defense, playing against a potent passing attack should help expose any weaknesses and also what they need to work on defensively going forward. They are starting 2 new defensive ends and also a couple of new kids in the secondary, so this should be a good learning experience for them.
