I was thinking the same thing. He was the only guard that really impressed me offensively. Two shots, 2 3's.

SL will have the height advantage in this one, but one think that I think SL has trouble with is a team who is athletic and has players that can play multiple positions. SL really struggled with Fairdale's athleticism and IMO Holmes plays better defense than Fairdale. Key to the game: Henderson vs Profitt. Henderson is Holmes best defender. If he shuts profitt down, then Holmes wins. Down low, I don't think SL has anyone who will be able to hang with Rice or Hill. Hill showed last night why he's the best player in the 9th region and one of the best in the state. And after seeing SL against Fairdale, their post players seem very lazy. Rice and Hill are so quick, the big boys will have trouble keeping up with them. Let's not forget about NElson though. He held Perry to 4 points. Also I think Holmes bench is a little deeper than SL's which proved to be tremendous on the defensive side last night. Close game til the end and Holmes pulls it out with late free throws. Over exaggeration a little...But Holmes hadn't played a team like Tilghman that could athletically match up with them. Maybe I should have phrased it that way. My Apologies.

I was very impressed with PT's defense. I haven't seen a guard hang with Dj like that all year and no big man has had a presence like that against Holmes. Mcclure did an oustanding job. They just didn't have any answer for Hill.

For everyone saying this was a sloppy game, you need to realize it's because BOTH teams played outstanding defense. Holms hasn't seen defensive pressure like that all year but still managed to get the W. So before you guys get too critical, why not give teams a little respect and congratulate them rather than focusing on the negatives. From the courier journal: "I think you have to give them a lot of credit," coach Brad Stieg said. "They were very physical. It's a different style of play from the First Region. We just weren't as strong and tough with the basketball as we needed to be." Holmes' defense limited Tilghman star Stefon Perry to eight points. "Probably the key to the game was Josh Nelson," Henley said. "He did a great job on Perry. When you hold David Jones to four points and Perry to eight, that's pretty good defense."

Alright folks, who would you say put on the best show? IMO on the offensive side Hill of Holmes wins the award. 26 points and thats despite sitting on the bench much of the game. Defensively, Mcclure of PT put on a shot block clinic and was a man on the offensive flass as well as putting up 16 points.

True but don't you think having one or two of the pre season favorites would match up better and make a game or 2 a little more exciting? For example, I feel SK would have given Scott Co a much better game today than Oldham Co did.

Don't forget about Holmes my friend. IMO if any team in that upper bracket is going to do it, it will be Holmes. Scott Co only beat them by 5 last year, AT Scott Co and that was without Greg Rice playing.

Had a chance to catch much of this game. South totally got dominated tonight. Fairdale held the lead much of the game then let South back in it when they started making bad decisions with the basketball. Give South credit though. They did what they had to do to win. If they play like that against Holmes though, they won't be fortunate enough to squeak out a win. Profitt was impressive tonight though. Other than that, South was very average.

Just got back from Lexington and man did Hill put on a clinic despite sitting out much of the game b/c of foul trouble. My assessment of the game: PT came out clicking on all cylinders with an early 9-3 run. Holmes then managed to creep back in the game, goin on a 9-2 run of their own to close out the first quarter including a 35 footer by Hill at the buzzer. Some sloppy play in the 2nd qtr allowed PT to get back in the game and cut the lead to 3 on a ticky tack foul right before halftime. Momentum changer: Jefferson to Rice alley oop that would start the 2nd half and Holmes cruised from there holding a 5-11 point lead the rest of the way. Jeferson was quiet but very effective tonight distributing the ball. Holmes bench really came up HUGE on the defensive side when Rice and Hill both had to sit because of foul trouble. Iron man of the game: Arrez Henderson. Played all 36 minutes and quietly had 12 points I believe. I was very impressed with the Mcclure kid of Pt. He definetly gave Rice a wake up call tonight. IMO MCclure is the best player PT has. Perry was virtually non existent as well as Jones. I believe the guards had more combined points than those 2. PT is very scrapp and stayed in the game with their offensive rebounding. All in all, great game by both teams, but Holmes was just too much.

Congrats to Scott Co. They totally dominated from start to finish. As for Oldham Co, you guys had a fine season. Nothing to be ashamed of so keep your heads up. Heck at the beginning of the season you weren't even in people's top 5 to qualify for state. You have really proved yourselves this year and had an awesome experience today. You just got beat by a better team.

I'm sure Pitino, Smith, and Cronin will be there. Holmes will have a few scouts at their game to see Hill.

IMO Ryle and CCH will be battling it out for the 9th region championship. Ryle was a Junior laden team last year.
