  1. Stats for the game: Kentucky - Proffitt 0 4 4, Hill 5 2 12, Brooks 3 0 6, Coleman 5 1 11, Pettigrew 11 2 26, Jones 1 2 4, Lewis 1 0 2, Hamilton 4 4 12, Benson 4 0 8, Benock 1 0 2, Jacobs 6 1 13, Clark 1 0 2, Hurd 1 0 2. Totals: 43 16 104. Good to see both Hill and Jacobs represented NKY well. Profitt with only 4 points........
  2. Correct. Austin was 9th region POY for the second year in a row this year. He won it as a junior too.
  3. How did Austin look timid? He had 20 points every game in the state tournament. If anything, Austin is one of the most confident people on the floor in every game. Austin doesn't have to be "The Man" to play D1. He is good enough and has played good enough competition to play at the D1 level. It will just take a extra hard work and more time to become a contributor. I think a couple of you (not you) are thinking he can't play at the D1 level because he wouldn't go in and start right away or play, but I can guarantee you by his late soph early junior year, he would be a contributor, once again, whether it be off the bench or as a starter.
  4. Whats up with Brossart? They've been kind of sluggish this season so far.
  5. Hill had 20 every game in the state tournament, and had to play defense against the likes of Matt Walls, Bud Mackey, Stephon Perry, Jordan Hammonds, and some fo teh best players in NKY. Jocaobs, Bovard, etc. Whilke Corey may have put up better numbers, Corey didn't have to play defense against the better players around the state and didn't have those guys guarding him. Plain and simple...both players are outstanding athletes and players. Both players were keyed on in every game they played. Austin was just keyed on by better players which is why IMO he is the POY. Also think about all the adversity Austin had to overcome this year. You don't think he had to make EVERYONE around him better when Duran was out and when the players got suspended? The JV guys who stepped in for Duran and the suspended players were all made better because of Austin. But this will be my last post on the subject regarding Austin. Congrats to Pelle, and enjoy it. Good luck at WLS.
  6. Couldn't have said any better myself. :thumb:
  7. I understand where you're coming from and agree with you to an extent. While Corey may have saw the team they were playing best player night in and night out, that best defender in some cases wouldn't even be considered a top 5 player against a Holmes or CCH. Was Pelle 10th Region POY? Bottom line is this...Both players are great student athletes but when it comes down to it Austin played the better competition and still shined while getting less shots every game than Corey.
  8. Austin won't be at a JC...if he doesn't go big D1 he'll end up at Western KY. I had a chance to speak with him and that's another school recruiting him pretty hard.
  9. Austin had 2 other NKY all star 1st teamers in RIce and Henderson, but was still the best player on the team. And yes I have seen Corey play, many times not only over the summer on the AAU circuit but also a few games this year. As one person stated, it's a lot easier to stand out as the best player on a smaller level team with less talent than standing out like say Jacobs did for CCH and Hill did for Holmes.
  10. One school that I wouldn't count out that may be in the picture is WKU..... :sssh: I had a chance to speak with some inside sources and this is what I found out. Also let's not forget that Mr Jefferson is attending UK for football. Hill could very well end up at UK considering Gillespie is there and so will one of his best friends.
  11. Austin was waiting until after the state tournament to do his visits and make a decision. He is still weighing his options with his family.
  12. IMO Hill is this POY. I don't care what you say about Corey having to play against a weak schedule. Bottom line is this. Austin averaged 20 a game playing against the state's best. Also Austin had 3 other NKY All star players on his team who were going to get their numbers too which also proves why Austin is still the best in nky. Best player on the best team in NKY should have won this IMO. Don't get me wrong, Corey is a great player and I've seen him play quite a few times. But if Holmes played the same schedule as them and Austin saw the same defenses as SG did, Austin would have averaged 30 a game too. Hill shined when it mattered most...in the state tournament.
  13. Not that good? And of course he's not going to play for any sweet 16 team right away. He is a 17 year old kid. But I guarantee you by his late soph early junior year he would be a contributor whether it be a starter or off the bench. P.S Texas A & M was a sweet 16 team and they have been recruiting Austin harder than any other schools on his list.
  14. !) Austin is 6'3. 2) For those of you who think he's not "good enough" to play D1 why does he have schools like X, Winthrop, and above all Texas A & M looking at him? He obviously is good enough to play major D1 otherwise those schools wouldn't be recruiting him so hard. 3) Nobody ever said he'd go straight to the D1 level and dominate. IMO by his late soph early junior year, he would definetl;y be a major contributer for ANY D1 school. 4) Austin has played at the AAU level against the top players in the country and still excelled. What makes you think he couldn't do the same in college? 5) Austin's ball handling skills are probably better than Jeffeson's. Jefferson just has better vision. If you think Austin has bad ball handling skills, you obviously haven't seen him that much.
  15. Nice win for Ryle. Don't think this will be the same kind of game later in the season though when both have their studs on the mound.
  16. Highlands has been a very nice surprise so far.
  17. I though Dom was going to be a Soph. Either way he will be a major contributor next year and probably step in as the 5th starter.
  18. I think you're right, but IMO Austin has the work ethic and talent to play for any school in the country after his freshman or say soph year.
  19. How does he not have the talent to play at the top D1 schools? That's a joke
  20. Wow very surprised by this score. Sounds like Bush had his stuff on the mound.
  21. Sounds like Ryle is starting off where they left off last year. Ryle shold be fun to watch this year.
  22. Nice win for the Rebels. Is the Houlehan kid who pitched the same Houlehan that played for CCH?
  23. Nice win for the Birds.
