Greenup County 12 Beechwood 11

Featured Replies

Greenup Co. also managed to beat Scott 4-3. Seems like they have a good team this year....

Upset IMO

I am not sure it was an upset. Beechwood finished 1-2 in the Foothills and wasn't all that impressive. They committed tons of errors, but to there defense, they never threw their #1 OR #2 IN THE TOURNEY. Greenup is pretty solid, with their only loss in the tourney coming to East Carter.

By the way...... heard earlier that East Carter was beaten by Fosteria, OH.

From what I understand that there are 3 teams with 2-1 records and they are East Carter, Greenup Co., and Scott. My question is..... who wins the tourny?

Maybe, maybe not. Our area (16th region) can play some very good baseball. GCHS, Boyd, East, Rowan, Russell and Raceland are all capable of beating some good teams such as Beechwood. That is not meant as a cut on Beechwood at all, they have a great program. Just that there are some good programs in our area and the 15th region as well. :thumb:

Tiebreaker was fewest runs allowed. Greenup allowed 21, Scott allowed 14, East allowed 10.

Not to rain on your parade, but Beechwood only returned one starter. They are not the Beechwood of last year.

You are not raining on mine or anyone else's parade DD. I was mainly speaking of and complimenting the Beechwood program as a whole and not just one season. Without a fine program a team just has a good year every now and then. With a program and tradition a team is competitive every year with some obviously better than others. :thumb:

I failed to mention Ashland on this list of 16th region teams that are competitive year in and year out.
