  1. Breathitt Country, Owen County, Louisville Christian Academy, Western Hills, Boone County, Butler, Shelby County were some of the others that played. Also on Saturday, Male beat Bullitt East for the JV championship. There were 2 JV pools. Pool 1 was Bullitt East, Fern Creek, and Manual JV. Pool 2 was Male, Seneca, and Manual Freshmen.
  2. 1. Depth at WR. Right now there is only 1 player with varsity experience. Fortunately he started down the stretch and should be very good, but there are only unknowns behind him. 2. Secondary play. Several players return with playing experience, but BE only had 6 interceptions last year. That number must improve and some guys need to step up. The good news is instead of sophomores and juniors being in the secondary, this year it will be juniors and seniors.
  3. I think Lex. Catholic will fit that bill, but I don't think Boyle will. The new playoff format hurts Boyle. Only 1 of those 2 teams will get out of the 2nd round of the playoffs since they are in the same district. The other districts look like this, last year's record in parenthesis: 4-1. Calloway County (4-7 ), Hopkins County Central (1-9), Lone Oak (5-5), Muhlenberg North (0-10) 4-2. Allen County-Scottsville (6-5), Franklin-Simpson (5-6), Logan County (1-9), Russell County (4-6), Warren East (10-2) 4-3. Atherton (0-10), Breckenridge County (0-10), Fairdale (4-6), Valley (9-3), Western (10-2) 4-4. Bullitt East (6-4), Larue County (10-3), Marion County (6-5), North Bullitt (7-4) 4-5. Bourbon County (0-10), Franklin County (9-3), Harrison County (5-6), Pendleton County (3-7) 4-6. Boyle County (6-6), East Jessamine (8-3), Lexington Catholic (10-2), West Jessamine (1-9) 4-7. Bell County (9-3), Knox Central (6-5), Madison Southern (4-6), McCreary Central (5-5), Rockcastle County (11-2) 4-8. Boyd County (4-7), Greenup County (3-7), Lawrence County (2-8), Rowan County (2-8) I don't know much about a lot of these teams, but I would expect either Bell or Rockcastle to come out of district 7. In district 4, Bullitt East is returning 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense. North Bullitt is returning most of their starters and Larue should be sold. District 4 looks like it is fairly even from top to bottom. It is the only district where every team had a winning record last year. Districts 1 and 8 look pretty weak. District 6 has 3 very good teams. District 2 is pretty solid as is district 3.
  4. BE wins the district title in a very tight ballgame. Matthew Bowles relieved Travis Broughton early in the game after Travis sustained a shoulder injury. Bowles gets the win, couple that with Brandon Alphin's performance against North Bullitt in the semi's and BE won the district behind the pitching of 2 freshmen.
  5. Louisville Male on June 8 & 9. Bullitt East on June 16, also includes a lineman challenge
  6. I don't know how much "diversity" you will see, but I do think BE is going to try to attack the middle of the field more. Plus, BE is going to have a big threat at WR, something that was missing last year. Nathan Brooks should have a big year at WR, he has good speed and is 6'2". He will be a matchup problem for most teams. He started to show some glimpses last year as a sophomore and the coaches are expecting him to produce this year.
  7. Definetely a game of contrasting styles. The 1st game of the season is always hard to predict, especially right now. I don't know much about Woodford, other than they like to throw the football and they have a VERY good WR. I think they graduated quite a few kids, but I don't know any specifics. BE should be improved from last year, as most of the starters are returning on both sides of the ball. BE will be breaking in a new QB, but I don't think it will be an issue. Can't wait for the season to start. Should be a good opening game for both teams.
  8. Doesn't Woodford County have a WR that is supposed to be really good?
  9. Here is the Bullitt East schedule for the 2007 season: 08-25 Woodford County @ Papa John's (Ray Adams Charger Classic) 08-31 DeSales @ BE 09-07 Bullitt Central @ BE 09-14 Louisville Central @ Louisville Central 09-21 Marion County @ Marion County-District Game 09-28 Fairdale @ BE 10-05 North Bullitt @ North Bullitt-District Game 10-12 BYE 10-19 Larue County @ BE-District Game 10-26 Dupont Manual @ Manual Stadium 11-02 Nelson County @ BE
  10. Bullitt East has 5 home games, 4 road games, and 1 neutral site game.
  11. North will need to improve their passing game if they want to make a playoff run. That was one part of their offense that was missing last year. Other than that they should have a strong team.
  12. I think this is North's last chance to make a big run. They will lose a bunch of talent after this season. I just don't think they enough after this group graduates to make a big push. Cissel can't do it alone. Other than Dalton, his class isn't very strong. The group behind him is solid, but I think this incoming class of freshmen won't be as good. You're only as good as your seniors.
  13. BE had a bunch of sophomores get playing time last year. Those kids took their lumps, but should be ready to hand some out this year. BE will take some losses during the regular season because the schedule is very difficult. By playoff time East could be ready make some noise. North would have to be the early favorite, with East likely making a run at a state title in 2008. BE 2007 Schedule DeSales H Bullitt Central H Louisville Central A Marion County A District Fairdale H North Bullitt A District Laure County H District Manual A Nelson County H
  14. Troutman has gotten some interest from some smaller schools. It will be interesting to see if the some bigger schools start to contact him as the season goes on. He has all the tools, he needs to be consistent.
  15. I would figure that Scott Co. is the region favorite. I'm not sure about the district. No team is great, but BE may have a slight edge.
  16. Final. North Bullitt had 30 turnovers against the BE press.
  17. There's one problem. Another problem, teams that play in tough districts have a more difficult road than teams that play in a weak district. There is no way the teams that are still playing in 4A are better than Male or St. X. Same thing with Highlands.
  18. Let's not forget, Rakes wasn't a one man show last year like Dalton is for North this year.
  19. I think it will be interesting to see this matchup. Teams haven't had much success running on BE. Teams that can throw have had some success. North is a poor passing team, but they run well. It will be strength on strength. North has rushed for 2489 yards (276.6 ypg). While the BE defense has only allowed 797 yards rushing (88.6 ypg). I wouldn't be surprised to see a score similar to the game on Monday.
  20. In a 3 way tie, you count the number of wins from the teams your team defeated, minus the one's against the schools your tied with. So Doss, could count the wins from all the teams they've defeated except North Bullitt.
  21. If there is a 3 way tie with NB, BE, and Doss. North would be the 3 seed, BE would be the 4 seed. Doss would be out, they lose the tiebreakers. If North loses they are out.
  22. You are correct. The PSW district will host the regional title game because that is district 4. This is an even numbered year, so the even numbered district will host. Seeding or record doesn't matter. Even though we were undefeated in 2002, we had to travel to Boyle County.
  23. Even year, even district hosts. Odd year, odd district hosts. So this year, the even number districts would host.
  24. The regular season is for seeding only. The district champion will be crowned after the 2nd round.
