That is one of the neat things about the new alignment is one of our old rivals will be in our district next year (Larue Co.). Personally, I hope we can keep Louisville Central, Doss, and or Waggener on our schedule. Then I would like to play some teams we've never gotten to play before, from different parts of the state. I wouldn't want to travel too far, but it would be nice to maybe play Cov. Cath or Highlands from the North. Lex. Catholic, Scott County or Dunbar. Then maybe a Madisonville or Warren Central or teams like that. I tihnk that will be one of the better aspects of the reclassification. It will allow for matchups of high quality opponents from different parts of the state.

Freedom in scheduling. We've been playing in a 9 team district, plus we are locked in a game with Bullitt Central every year. This left us only ONE game to schedule. With the new set up we will have 6 games to work with.

Yes, that is true. They will be in the same district. I'll try to get the list of all the districts. One of the BE coaches had a copy from the KHSAA.

I don't think successful seasons are only defined by champioships, but winning matters. For some teams, winning the district or the region is a successful season. For others, just making the playoffs would be a success. For a struggling program, just getting a few wins and heading in the right direction is a success. For the elite teams, I do think anything less than a championship is a failure. It varies by each individual team and their particular circumstances. I don't think under any circumstance could winning less than 4 games be considered good, and that is only for a team that had 1 or fewer wins the previous season. For Trinity, they should strive for a champioship every year. For Bullitt East, winning the region last year was a successful season. We would love to win a title, but were not quite there yet.

I don't know, obviously the KHSAA found something. They don't make teams forfeit games for no reason.

If the heat index is 104 or above there can't be any outdoor activity. Like an earlier poster said, there is going to some gym time this week.

I might do a little research and see if I can come up with the playoff numbers. That could be interesting.

I think he may have been referring to Highlands. They did have issues with their last title team.

It was a little joke relax. Until they added Atherton to our district, we always started the season with 3 games against 4A teams.

We don't have a choice on who is in our district, and we have to play Bullitt Central every year. That's nine out of our ten games, but there are 4 teams from our district on this list. Plus, we are undefeated against a certain Southwestern team.

Bullitt East does not do two a days. Been that way since Coach Settles took over.

Hopkinsville could make the same arguement. In the last 6 years they have played Male 4 times, Memphis Ridgeway, and an Alcoa team that crushed everyone they played last year. Louisville Central has played Male 4 times and St. X Lexington Catholic has played Male twice and St. X twice. Highlands isn't the only team that regularly plays the "Big Boys".

It's only over the last 6 years and I just listed what the KHSAA has down. I don't determine the records. I think we are all smart enough to know why Highlands and Lexington Catholic are listed where they are. I think there are much more interesting things to discuss on this topic, then this. For example, the excellent records posted by Rockcastle County and Bowling Green. That Covington Catholic didn't make the top 20 and Southwestern checked in way down at 17. How many would have known that East Jessamine had such a fine record? Thanks for the compliment, Coach Egan did a great job building the program up. Coach Settles is continuing the growth and BE will stay a top 10 program for the forseeable future. Now, BE needs to take the next step and win a champioship. That isn't going to happen this year, but 2007 and 2008 could be a different story.

I think the KHSAA would disagree with you on that. If they wouldn't have broken rules in real life, they wouldn't have been forced to forfeit those games. On field results are meaningless when you break the rules to achieve them. So their record reflects this. Despite this, they are still in the top 20 and proved last year they could win the right way. I think everyone knows that they are a top flight program.

According to the KHSAA website Lexington Catholic has compiled the following records since 2000. 2000 11-2 2001 2-11 2002 4-9 2003 7-5 2004 10-2 2005 14-1 They were forced to forfeit games in 2001, 2002, and 2003 for violations. The record I have listed is their official record.

The forfeiting of games definetely hurt Highlands winning percentage.

How do you leave Bullitt East off of that list?

Right. You are in for a surprise then, if that is what you think. East will be far better than you think. I would personally give more respect to a team that I hadn't beaten in 8 years. North won't get any respect until they actually beat East or Louisville Central. Getting close doesn't count.

They are STILL a 3A power. They were 11-2, that's very good. They only had one loss in 3A, they went to the regional finals. They aren't going to win a state title every year. They had an incredible run. They also had incredible talent during that run. That is the biggest difference, the players they have now are good, but they don't have as much D-1 talent as before. However, they aren't going away.

I know some have their doubts about Boyle, but you are talking about a team who was 11-2. They return a senior at QB, which is very important in their offense. I think they will be very good. I think one thing overlooked by most is the number of D-1 signees that Boyle had while Smith was the coach. He did a great job, but they had tons of talent to work with. The talent level is not as good as before, but they are still strong. Ultimately, it is about talent. The top teams in 3A usually have multiple D-1 players. That is why I favor BG this year, but I wouldn't write off Boyle just yet. I agree Highlands will be very good as I put in my post, I think they will make it to the title game.

I'm curious, why does everyone think so highly of Southwestern? They have a solid team, but they have never done anything in the playoffs to warrant a top ten ranking. I personally would rank them 1. Bowling Green (Loaded!) 2. Lex Catholic (Out of respect from last season.) 3. Boyle County (I think they will be very good, just not as good as BG.) 4. Highlands (Maybe a return to the title.) 5. Hopkinsville (Can they overtake BG?) 6. Rockcastle County (Should be their turn this year.) 7. Louisville Central (Lookout, this team was very young last year.) 8. Cov. Cath. (Expectations are always high, but they just can't seem to get over the hump.) 9. Bell County ( Not quite as good as the last couple of years, but still solid.) 10. Bullitt East (A young team, the sophomore and junior classes are very strong.) I'm not sold on NB either, Central was just as young and better than NB last year. Plus, NB won't be as good at the wr position. They will be solid on defense, but they can't let themselves be one dimensional on offense. I think that will be a problem. Plus, you can't be ranked until you actually beat somebody, getting close doesn't cut it. Also, NB has to play at BE this year.
