A lot has been made about the new alignment, smaller districts, and having to schedule more games. Given what your district may look like next year (barring the option of moving up in class), who do you want to see your team add to the schedule now that there seems to be more flexibility?

 

What rivalries that were discontinued with the last realignment in 2001 would you like to see revived?

That is one of the neat things about the new alignment is one of our old rivals will be in our district next year (Larue Co.). Personally, I hope we can keep Louisville Central, Doss, and or Waggener on our schedule. Then I would like to play some teams we've never gotten to play before, from different parts of the state. I wouldn't want to travel too far, but it would be nice to maybe play Cov. Cath or Highlands from the North. Lex. Catholic, Scott County or Dunbar. Then maybe a Madisonville or Warren Central or teams like that. I tihnk that will be one of the better aspects of the reclassification. It will allow for matchups of high quality opponents from different parts of the state.

For Belfry, I really like the idea of having 7 games to schedule. I'd like to see us keep the series' with Ashland and Lawrence Co alive and then add some other teams that would be a challenge every week. A mixture of 4A and 5A teams would be great with a couple of them using styles we will likely face later on in the playoffs. Some very good 2A teams are out there too.

With that being said, I wouldn't mind seeing both these schools schedule at least 1 school from L'ville each season to see where they rate against the big boys. However, I doubt many of the big boys would have much of an interest in scheduling the Laurel schools unless they both continue to show improvement as they would not benefit as much as the Laurel schools would from these potential matchups.

I would like to see Trinity schedule all of the other class' winners.

For Mason County, I'd like to see something like this:

 

Montgomery County or Harrison County - the closest "large schools" to Maysville

 

Ashland Blazer - I'd hate to see those newly-formed 3A rivalries (Mason County was 2A until just a very few years ago) go by the wayside so soon

 

Boyd County (see Ashland)

 

Lawrence County - as long as Billy Goldsmith is there, anyway

 

Lewis County (D)

Russell (D) - will be nice to see this one on the Royals' schedule again

 

Fleming County (D) - great rivalry game

 

Rockcastle County - the couple of times these two schools have played have been barn-burners

 

A good competitive schedule for a school the size of Mason County with very few breathers. If Rockcastle couldn't be worked out, a home-and-home with a rotating Northern Kentucky school (Lloyd, Newport, NCC) might be in order.

 

Just my $.02 as a football fan who likes competitive games and would rather see two evenly-matched teams play instead of loading the schedule up with cupcakes and hoping for blowouts every game.
