Doesn't the KHSAA regulate wether or not you can practice depending on the heat index?

Field temp. I believe it is 104 degress.

Remember the days of limited water breaks and salt tablets?  Man things are a lot different now and as far as protecting kids from heat strokes.... a lot better.

If the heat index is 104 or above there can't be any outdoor activity. Like an earlier poster said, there is going to some gym time this week.

Thank goodness water breaks aren't a sign of weakness any more. I remember some brutally hot practices from back in my day.

I remember guys dropping like flies in the heat when I was a kid. The view was the kids were soft, or were trying to slack off. I had a buddy of mine, a lineman, who lost about 10 pounds of water weight in a day during two a days.

I lived for 3-a-days in July! If the heat didn't make you puke, the salt tablets would.

That's what I referring to in my earlier post about the little amount of water and salt tablets.:thumb:

Yep, all of that and grass drills to go along with it.:D :scared:

Weren't the rules further imposed a few years ago when that one linemen died? I remember practices got a LOT better after that, as far as water breaks were concerned.

Before that, we had practices where my mouth seriously felt like it just dried up. My toungue felt like sandpaper against my mouthpiece.
