Doesn't the KHSAA regulate wether or not you can practice depending on the heat index?

Is that actual temp, or heat index.

I believe it's the heat index, but I'm not 100%

^ I am pretty sure it is the heat index also.

Yes it is the heat index.

heat index 104 plus

100% positive

Remember the days of limited water breaks and salt tablets?  Man things are a lot different now and as far as protecting kids from heat strokes.... a lot better.

Not sure I want to recall a few of those 2 A days, I once drank out of a water puddle from the sprinklers on the field with about 5 other linemen, man times have changed.

Why do schools wait until late afternoon/early evening to practice? Why not go in the morning, get your work in, be out of the afternoon heat?

Alot of schools do go early afternoon. But the I think all schools will start going about 3ish or so the closer it gets time for school to start, because that is the time they will be practicing then and it could be just as hot. You have to get the a little used to the heat, you don't want them practicing in upper 70's to low 80's mornings all summer then when school starts throw them out in a 90+ afternoon.
