fbjones Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 There has been talk of Lex. Cath and Boyle Co being "power houses" in 4A this year. Can anyone shed any light as to how the other teams in this district looks.
Charger1 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I think Lex. Catholic will fit that bill, but I don't think Boyle will. The new playoff format hurts Boyle. Only 1 of those 2 teams will get out of the 2nd round of the playoffs since they are in the same district. The other districts look like this, last year's record in parenthesis: 4-1. Calloway County (4-7 ), Hopkins County Central (1-9), Lone Oak (5-5), Muhlenberg North (0-10) 4-2. Allen County-Scottsville (6-5), Franklin-Simpson (5-6), Logan County (1-9), Russell County (4-6), Warren East (10-2) 4-3. Atherton (0-10), Breckenridge County (0-10), Fairdale (4-6), Valley (9-3), Western (10-2) 4-4. Bullitt East (6-4), Larue County (10-3), Marion County (6-5), North Bullitt (7-4) 4-5. Bourbon County (0-10), Franklin County (9-3), Harrison County (5-6), Pendleton County (3-7) 4-6. Boyle County (6-6), East Jessamine (8-3), Lexington Catholic (10-2), West Jessamine (1-9) 4-7. Bell County (9-3), Knox Central (6-5), Madison Southern (4-6), McCreary Central (5-5), Rockcastle County (11-2) 4-8. Boyd County (4-7), Greenup County (3-7), Lawrence County (2-8), Rowan County (2-8) I don't know much about a lot of these teams, but I would expect either Bell or Rockcastle to come out of district 7. In district 4, Bullitt East is returning 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense. North Bullitt is returning most of their starters and Larue should be sold. District 4 looks like it is fairly even from top to bottom. It is the only district where every team had a winning record last year. Districts 1 and 8 look pretty weak. District 6 has 3 very good teams. District 2 is pretty solid as is district 3.
jbwill2 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I'd bet that the winner for this class is either LexCath, Boyle County, Bell County, or Rockcastle Co, in that order.
FOOTBALL PRIDE Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Western should be the favorite in district 3. Returning the whole offensive line, and key underclassmen, now maturing, the warrior now look to mix up newly accuired strengh with everfamous WESTERN WARRIOR SPEED. This team is a lock top 10 team.
UNDERTHEBRIDGE Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Man, if Boyle Co. and Lex Cath can maintain their programs to the level of a few years ago then 4A fans are in for a fun football rivalry. Being a part of the '99 and '00 seasons when these two teams were 1 and 2 in 2A was simply awesome. Course it would have been better if we hadn't been #2 both years.
EJHS Fan #98 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Isn't Franklin Co. in the 4-6 district, with Catholic, Boyle Co., West, and East?
fbjones Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 Not since the class change and everyone moved around
Charger1 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Isn't Franklin Co. in the 4-6 district, with Catholic, Boyle Co., West, and East? Nope. 4-5. Bourbon County (0-10), Franklin County (9-3), Harrison County (5-6), Pendleton County (3-7)
TonyDanza Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Atherton should not be in 4-A. No disrespect to them but I think more like 2-A would fit that program. I know how they decide who goes where...doesn't mean it works.

I don't know if that will translate to wins or not, but it did seem to be an improvement.
