  1. Here is the thing about the pass interference. Either it was behind the line of scrimmage, in which case pass interference doesn't apply. There is no pass interference behind the line of scrimmage. Or, if the ball was thrown past the neutral zone, then Mayfield had linemen illegally downfield on the play. The line of scrimmage is everything. I'm pretty sure it was intended to be a screen pass, which leads me to believe the ball was thrown behind the line of scrimmage. Which is also why the linemen were already downfield. Either way, that call was missed and Mayfield got 15 free yards. Not saying that cost anybody the game. In hindsight, if Caldwell had managed the clock better the last 6 minutes, it still probably wins the game. Hopefully a good learning experience if that situation comes up again in the playoffs.
  2. I thought it was a great effort by the guys in the Cardinals jerseys and the guys in the Tigers jerseys. The guys in the striped jerseys need to drop some of their attitude and work at becoming better officials. They left a lot to be desired tonight.
  3. I believe 7:30 must be the site's default time. I'm pretty sure that Caldwell County and Hart County is a 7:00 game but the scoreboard shows it at 7:30.
  4. No, no, no! Everything west of the lakes is FAR WESTERN KENTUCKY. Thought everybody knew that. :lol2:
  5. Caldwell won 46-27. Not sure why KHSAA has the score wrong.
  6. No Dee Cain for Caldwell this week, but I still think the Tigers win by 3-4 TDs.
  7. It was indeed 46-27. A bit of a strange game, but I think the two teams are pretty evenly matched. Tilghman gave it up 4 times while Caldwell turned it over just once. That's pretty big when you consider just how close the game was otherwise.
  8. Burns was 14-for-14 in the first quarter at Henderson County. Unfortunately, someone on the sideline said out loud that he was 14-for-14, so his next pass was incomplete. :lol2::lol2::lol2:
  9. I wish someone would inform most WKC officiating crews where to spot the ball after a missed field goal. I've seen this botched multiple times over the last few years by multiple crews. If the missed FG crosses the goal line, it's a pretty easy call! haha
  10. I have Caldwell 42-28 this week, so I hope you're right!
  11. And Sindelar only averaged playing about 2 quarters a game. There were some games this past season where he was out before halftime. I've never seen any other team pull its starters as quickly as Caldwell did the last 2 years.
  12. I meant that AP membership overall is dropping, not the number that voted. That's why I said 24 seemed like a pretty good number.
  13. Actually just six players from Caldwell County. The kid with the last name "Caldwell" doesn't count. :lol2:
  14. Players had to be nominated to be voted on. If no one in the northern Kentucky area nominated anyone, then those players were not available for others to vote for. I saw that 24 AP members voted. Wished there were more, but it seems like AP membership is dwindling so that's probably a pretty good number.
  15. I think overall Caldwell is the more talented team. I also think overall that Murray doesn't care who the more talented team is. And there is a lot to be said for having confidence this time of year, and Murray does have confidence. I expect Caldwell to get punched in the mouth Friday night. How Caldwell responds will determine the outcome.
  16. Caldwell County has an opening for Week 4 (away in 2015 and home in 2016).
  17. Classic Little Brother Syndrome. I just don't know who they are the little brother to. Mayfield? Calloway County?
  18. If this game doesn't come down to the last couple of possessions I will be shocked. I'm thinking Caldwell 42-35. Mayfield will be the best defense Caldwell has seen, but the Tigers haven't turned the ball over much. I think the starters only have 5-6 turnovers all year. Sindelar has thrown 3 picks, two against Christian and one against Murray. Two of those were his fault for poor decisions, but one was a ball his receiver fumbled into the defender's arms. However, there have been a couple that could/should have been picked, so that all evens out. (Not going to complain about a guy with a 39:3 TD/INT ratio :lol2:). However, if Mayfield could get a couple of turnovers, that could certainly swing the game the Cardinals' way. I think Caldwell's passing game is much farther along than this time last year, but I don't know if the running game is as good. Boyd is still tough, but I'm not sure the Tigers run block as well as last year. This game will be a good test for that. From what I can tell, Mayfield isn't as good offensively as last year, but the Bright kid is scary and the Cardinals will probably make some big plays. Everyone says Mayfield is better defensively this year. Speedy defenses usually give System offenses fits, so that will be an interesting matchup as well. I think it's going to be a fun game and hopefully both teams will play well. I don't think a loss hurts either team at all, so both teams should throw everything they've got at the other and see how it turns out. This game should be a showcase for high school football, and hopefully both teams come out injury free. :thumb:
  19. I really don't think it's that big a deal who is ranked No. 1 right now. Ranking CAL No. 1 just means it may be more deserving today, it doesn't mean CAL could/should/would beat Caldwell County if the two should meet. I just wonder if CAL and/or DeSales has faced anyone with a quarterback/passing game similar to Caldwell's. Games always come down to matchups. I don't know enough about CAL or DeSales to know if they can defend Caldwell's passing game AND keep running back Jaylen Boyd in check. Similarly, I don't know enough about CAL or DeSales to know what they do offensively. Caldwell's defense, despite its continued perceived weakness, is good enough to stop a one-dimensional offense, but will probably struggle against a more balanced offense. I think the state semifinal will come down to CAL or DeSales vs. Caldwell or OCath. Should be an interesting matchup either way. (And, no, I don't think Murray gets past OCath this time around.) Whichever one of those four teams gets to Bowling Green will have earned it.
  20. Crittenden County needs some 8-10 minute scoring drives to keep this game close. I don't see enough speed on the Crittenden defense to ever stop Caldwell's offense. I'm thinking 56-14 Caldwell. Could be a big night for the Tigers. It's senior night and Elijah Sindelar needs 4 TD passes to break the state record for career touchdown passes. Jaylen Boyd needs 89 yards for his fourth-straight 1,000-yard rushing season. Only other Caldwell player to do that is Jerrold Fuqua.
  21. I think you're a little early for the Caldwell-Mayfield prediction thread. :lol2:
