  1. Lawrence County Boys: Tyler Hinton-KCU Coty Roberts-KCU Acie Waller-KCU Bryan Scarberry-Undecided
  2. Good luck to Luke. I think that he will bring some new energy to the program. I just hope that he has the maturity to handle the head coaching position and some of the baggage that can often be added to running a team. I think that he will get the support from the community that he needs.
  3. Guess you should ask Matney if he sent some names in. If not, that would be a shame that some of these guys would not be able to be seen by college recruiters. maybe since it was a new bowl game, some coaches were not familiar with it.
  4. Not sure how the selection process was determined. I did see some from Tates Creek and Highlands so if that was how WYMT reported it, then I can see the confusion that it would cause. Perhaps someone can enlighted us on this????

  6. WYMT has a list of those that will be playing in the game.
  7. Great complex. I have a feeling they will be posting a new sign on it as well stating, 2007 State champs! Their team this year is the best that I have seen!
  8. Letcher Co's field is awesome.:ylsuper: Ranks right up there with Belfry's. Yes they do have a jumbotron. The crowd is really nice and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. From what I could see the gymnasium wasn't anything to sneeze at either!
  9. Well, look what I have been missing! :rolleyes:Remember that LC loves their football and whoever is brought in will have the support from the community....for a while. These fans want to get back to winning, flat out. Don't get me wrong they will be patient, but the coach(s) will need to be moving in the right direction and not backward. I personally would not have a problem with Chuke. Yes he left, but he thought that that was the right move for him at the time. Turned out, it wasn't and hindsight is 20/20. Would love to see Alan back, possibly as an assistant, but who knows? The young man certainly knows football and would never leave home if the fit was right! I think that we would defintely see the belly back (talking about the type of offense:D). I think that we defintely need to sit back and see what people express interest, who knows, some may surprise us. I know of one coach that would have loved the job when it was offered to McPeek (after Chuke left) and later went a little farther south down US 23 :sssh: I wouldn't have loved that, but hindsight is 20/20, right? :thumb:
  10. BC played a good game and it was a well called game. No sense about the fight afterwards. :confused:Just a few kids not knowing how to act. Frankly I was embarassed by it all. I saw Coty talking to the BC coaches when it all happened and he eventually walked over to apologize to the BC team and tell them that they played a good game. Don't let a few kids leave the BC fans with the impression that this is typical Lawrence County, because it is not. Good luck to BC and I hope that they beat out GC (which they should). As far as the camos, I think that it was supposed to reflect that they were in the hunt for the win and the eventual district title. I really hate this for our seniors. I hope that the program can get turned around and get back to the LC football that we love.
  11. Not saying that all the calls were bad, but I can tell you they were not consistent. Acie Waller #1 got blocked in the back by 2 GC players on one of the kickoffs and it was near the ball so I can assume that the refs would have had their eyes in that area, but no call. The thing is the calls that were made were momentum killers and it appeared to the fans to be one sided. I mean you can seeing holding pretty much at any time of the game, but by golly the refs called us, it seems when it really mattered. The offensive offsides at the end of the game, I mean, did not see it at all. The pass by GC, that should have been a fumble, because it was thrown behind the line of scrimmage and was recovered by LC, should have been a turn over. The line ref saw it and you can see from the film that he sees it as a turnover, but the white hat came over and overruled it..but no whistle was ever blown to stop the play  The line ref had a much better view of the pass and the line of scrimmage and the white hat did not, but he came over to the ref and simply over-ruled it. Once again another momentum killer. Also, the ref went to the players and pretty much told them to go ahead and leave before it got ugly and let the time run off. The fans nor the players had issues with each other, mostly the refs. All of the players conducted themselves very well and I guess that the ref thought they were on his level??? Anyway, we here at LCHS have to let this go and move on. Go Dawgs!
  12. OK, I have tried to stay away from posting but feel that I have to this info out there. The boys played their hearts out but they were also playing against the refs. I have never seen a worst called game in all my years of High School football. :irked:Most of the time, I would not say that the refs made that much of a difference in a game, but I can tell you that in this game, they most certainly did. In the Ashland's paper, Goldsmith said it was the lack of leadership???? :confused:Don't know what her meant or if he was just misquoted. Perhaps he meant form the coaching staff, I don't know. The article was a joke and did not truly reflect the game. Biased? I think that one of our coaches were thrown out because of the bad calls. Not only was there a lot of yardage on penalities, but when we had big plays, they were called back and it Killed the momentum. One of our seniors got thrown out for shoving the GC player for grabbing his :sssh: in the pile on the field, but the other player did not get ejected. The ref made the statement that the shove was in relaliation, but IMO that is a reflex and a judegement call should have been made by the ref or BOTH players ejected. IMO GC can thank their refs for this game.
  13. I know the snaps are just killing us. I don't know what the problem is but I do not that it has been a problem since the start of the season.
  14. I thought that Cody Patrick had an excellent game. I am so glad he was able to come out and play his senior year. He has played with these guys for so many years; it just would not have been the same without him. His offensive blocking has been good and as we all know, that is a thankless job. He just goes in and does his job. I thought that Timmy and Brad both had good games as well. I thought that Timmy Cantrell had some good catches as well. Coty ran well, the kid gives it his all, and for the little bit that he was in on defensive, he did great and then they pretty much took him out and just played him at offense?? For the most part, these seniors are all aggressive and do not want to stop. Very competitive. Fundamentally, Rowan was better than LC and I cannot understand what the answer to that is. I believe that Rowan County continues to get better as the season progresses and LC continues to struggle. Hope they get it together and get prepared for Greenup. LC has always played GC tough.
  15. LC has been improving every week and they will win this Friday. :ylsuper:
  16. Heard that Acie Waller's PATs really made a difference. He got all three attempts! When was the last time that happened at LC?:jump: Sounds like it was a great game.
  17. I want to go on record to clear up the previous response. I totally support the DAWGS and I understand that sometimes the team does not necessarily have the depth to address these issues such as fumbles, jumping off sides, etc. These are often mental mistakes and can occur because of fatigue. Since many of our kids play both sides, this can easily happen. I guess that it just got to me when the person stated that these kids practice all week to lose. Really:rolleyes: I do not think so. These kids practice hard and have sacrificed their summer and could easily be getting into trouble. These are a bunch of great young men. I LOVE THE DAWGS!!!! We have all got to stay positive and support the team. These boys really need all of the confidence that they deserve from us. :ylsuper: If I gave the impression otherwise, I apologize. By the way if anyone wants to see some pictures from the game, go to http://www.blackcatfootball.com Looks like he took some good pictures of both teams.
  18. I disagree. If the kid jumps off sides, drop passes, etc, then the coach should take him out and put someone else in. That will either drive that player to step up his game and make the replacement keep on his toes to take over anytime. IMO, it is a win-win situation. Fumbles and interception will happen, but there has to be a limit as well. The coaches have to be able to make those tough decisions and sometimes I don't think that if necessarily in their overall plan. :sssh: Chuke, come what may, would jerk a kid out if he made a mistake. You kinda felt sorry for the kid but believe me, he did not make the same mistake twice. Some of these kids don't feel that pressure of another kid may replace them. I have also seen some "stupid" moves by the coaching staff that have hurt the team as a whole and I am not just talking about this year (but the same staff). Maybe it is not intentional but how many times can we say "what was he thinking?" as an excuse. These kids are talented and believe me they need a win to get their confidence up. By the way, I really don't think that these kids prepare all week to lose the game A good coaching staff by the way can make even average players above average.
  19. Kudos to Austin Roush for the game he played when he was in there. I think he was third in rushing with a TD and only played for about one quarter of the game. He is a under-rated and underused player for the Warriors and I think he showed what he could do on Friday.
  20. These boys walked off that field with their heads held high. I can tell you that Coal Grove was glad to get out of there with the win. I think that LC gained a lot of respect Friday night. These boys will take this momentum into Belfry and IMO, play them tough enough to pull out a win. Especially if Belfry thinks that it will be a easy win.
  21. LC always plays Belfry well. We actually played them very well and almost won on the new field year before last. I think that with the momentum from the Coal Grove game, this team will be fired up and will give the Pirates all they can handle. The forth quarter comeback gave these boys a lot of confidence in themselves and what they can accomplish if they don't give up. Would love to see a big following from LC to support the Dawgs. The fans were a big part of the game Friday. Look for an upset. :sssh: LC 21 Belfry 20
  22. I could not agree more. :thumb: These seniors deserved better than this. They need to put that article behind them and prove that this is their team and go out to win. :ylsuper:
