  1. Kentucky won, largely because the guy with all the “skill” went 0-12 from 3. Strange time to make this case.
  2. You're right. It's an insanely terrible idea.
  3. Unless something crazy happens, I don't see any movement on the realignment front for another 4-5 years. I do expect things to get crazy again in 2023 or so, but a lot can happen in terms of how we consume content between now and then.
  4. Same thing was said about Evans last year. Mick won 28 games in a "rebuilding year" instead. Keep swinging JA. You'll connect eventually.
  5. Huggs had opportunities to leave UC pretty much every year during his time there. Especially the first 8 years or so. He declined them all. Very much revisionist history to say he stayed because he didn't have a choice. UC basketball is a big time job. Football has only been relevant since the turn of the century, so it is a stepping stone.
  6. And Mark Dantonio. It’s life in big time football, and the big boys are going to come calling for Luke soon. In basketball, however, they’ve had 2 head coaches since 1989 and both have won a ton of games.
  7. They've won a game 5 of the 9 times. So there is that...
  8. The other thing is, this is only the 2nd time they didn't live up to their seed, with the other being the 5-12 loss to Harvard when Kilpatrick was a senior. Outside of that and the win over FSU when UC was a 6 and the Noles a 3, the results have gone as expected every time. I get the frustration with not advancing in March, but life in #7 conference isn't an easy one. There is a huge gap in resources that is only getting wider and recruiting to a league that has only been in existence for 6 years makes it tough to land higher rated kids with any legit P5 options. It's not an easy spot to be in, and Cronin is the only one to win through it with any consistency to date.
  9. They've won 89 games in the past 3 years. Previous school record over a 3 year period was 85. There was a necessary shift in recruiting philosophy that takes some time to take hold in a 4 year developmental program like UC, but there has been a much heavier emphasis placed on recruiting skilled offensive talents that has starred in this recent stretch. Troy Caupain, Jacob Evans and Gary Clark are all in the NBA with only Caupain being on a 2 year deal and Kyle Washington was very much an offense first guy. Cumberland is in the same mold, and will make a run at being an All American as a senior. That's not for his defensive prowess. The problem in each of the past 4 tournament Ls is the defense not holding up in the 2nd half against Top 15 offenses. Heck, Iowa shot 62% from the field and 65% from 3 in the 2nd half today while scoring 48 points. The lazy narrative is he runs a slow down system and they can't score enough in the tournament, but the reality has been if the defense is even remotely solid in each of those games, UC advances. I think right now the biggest issue in the tournament is that the matchup zone. Teams that move the ball at an elite level can find the open man faster than the necessary rotations can be executed. Once a top 15 offense settles in, the ball finds a scorer in rhythm before the defense adjusts. I'd like to see more man to man worked in to give them another option in those situations. The schedule stuff is silly. They played Ohio State, Ole Miss, Miss St, Xavier and UCLA in the OOC this year. They did everything possible to test themselves before AAC play, it just turned out some of those games weren't as strong as they should have been. Reality is they blew it last year and squandered what very well should have been at least an E8 and probably F4 run. This was a rebuilding season that saw the team far outperform expectations. They exited a game earlier than they should have, but that's the nature of the tournament. 3 senior starters next year, so expectations will be sky high once again. Mick needs to break through in March, but this was never supposed to be the season to do so the minute Evans declared and left a year early.
  10. Zero chance he goes to Bama. Only possibility I see is UCLA. If not, UC fans will have to suffer through another 30 win season next year.
  11. Andy Kennedy is the name tossed around most with Tulane so far.
  12. Little GT trains at Premier, and while they didn't train together, they did have workouts on the same nights at the same time. Mrs GT and I recognized her as soon as we saw the picture this morning. Just soul crushing to think what her family is going through. Bright and talented young girl full of life one day, and gone the next. I can't even imagine. Going to be a rough week at Premier. Rest easy Lilliana. Gone far too soon...
  13. Sounds like a great way to get extorted for a heck of a lot more than $58...
  14. Old rich guy hits up local rub and tug for a happy ending. Big deal. The people running the sex trafficking ring will get locked up for a long time, as they should be...
  15. If the overhead camera was shooting directly down to the center of the basket, sure. Instead it is behind the backboard, and also creates a shot that doesn’t exactly tell the whole story of where the ball is on the cylinder. What the sideline angle shows that the top doesn’t is the trajectory of the ball moving away from the front of the rim. At the point it was tipped there was a zero percent chance that it was still in danger of being a made basket...
  16. I know everyone is caught up in the angle that showed the tip in from above the basket, but the sideline angle was pretty clear that the ball was out of the cylinder. Tough way to drop a game on such a bang, bang call but there is enough video to think even if it was review-able the initial call was going to stand. Johnson blew the on ball assignment and the bigs had to react to help. End result is the weak side wide open for a last ditch tip and LSU made the play. I didn't see any way the call would have been reversed based on all the camera angles that were shown...
  17. Doug and his wonderful bride are already up to 6 kids. I don't think this decision to go work for the Bengals had anything to do with the working environment at Moe... :lol2:
  18. Top 50 on offense, about to drop below 200 on D. There is no way they should be that bad on D with the roster they have. They have been in multiple games with quality opponents, and it was because of the offense. They aren’t winning because the D is putrid...
  19. I think Zac is a bright young coach, but I have a hard time seeing him being ready for a HC job in the NFL this early in his career...
  20. Holgerson already owns a home in Houston and is tight with Tilman Fretatta from his previous stint there. Deal is pretty much done unless something unexpected pops up...
