We were at the game....right at the fence and beyond....I can tell you that both teams were called equal by the refs....both teams should have had more calls than what they did.... That being said, I think this subject should be dropped....talk about beating a dead horse:deadhorse: As far as the game is concerned, both teams played a WONDERFUL game! T should be very proud of their win...In fact, Coach Beatty seemed very happy in coming out of this game with a win. The Bowling Green Daily News has him quoted in telling his players "You better be screaming at the top of your lungs to celebrate! And don't stop till I tell you." As far as the Purples are concerned, they should also be VERY PROUD of themselves....My second year of college I worked my behind off in a certain class. I ended up getting a D out of it. I was more proud of that D than all of my other grades (A's) because I worked the hardest for that D grade.....BG, as I see it, should be very proud of the effort that they put into the games last night....last nights game was the closest final score in the BG-T series. I can also vouch for PH's assessment of many of the T fans. They were very happy in coming out with the win and congratulated us on a great football game and a great effort. On gentleman told PH and I that BG has been the toughest team that T has played all year. He stated that he was impressed and did not think that BG could be stopped by any other team. Hey rockmom! Good to hear from you again, and hope everything's okay. BGHS only has 12 seniors this year!! Talk about boding well for the future! Most of the important cogs this year will be back next season, and there are 86 non seniors on this team. I think that your description hit the game squarely on the head. And there were many Trinity fans actually at the game who echoed your opinion!

Didn't realize that, Nation. Of course, I only see him behind those behemoth linemen and I only see him in a football uniform. Still, I think it's his heart that makes him go, and he's the kind of player I admire. But thanx for the info.

The biggest play of the game: Peter May's third FG attempt being blocked. It would have given the Purples a 15-14 lead and may have been the game winner. Trinity dominated time of possession. They put together some really decent drives, but could only cash in on two, mainly due to the BGHS defense. People talk about their offensive numbers, but the defense has been stellar for the Purples so far this year. Derek Bishop. This kid is unassuming, barely bigger than a hiccup, not very impressively built. All this kid has is heart, and tons of it!! We couldn't stop him last year at Marshall Stadium, and we didn't do much better Friday night. The Trinity fans we talked to were great. They appreciated the welcome and wish for luck when they came in tonight as well as the congrats on a superb game and get back home safely message as we all were leaving. It really made Mrs PH and I proud that we're Purple Fanatics when they were full of accolades for the play of our guys tonight!

BGHS finally drew first blood with 4:24 left in the first qtr, when JR QB Scooter Hollis uncorked a 29 yd scoring strike to JR Brandon Green. JR K Peter May booted the PAT, and the Purples took a 7-0 lead. Only 1:24 later, Owensboro's Tinsley ran 70 yds to paydirt. Gilliam hit the PAT, and the qtr ended a 7-all tie. The Red Devils jumped into the lead with 9:40 left before the half when Tinsley ran it in for three yds and the score. Gilliam booted the PAT, and the Devils went up 14-7. Only 15 seconds later, Green set sail on a 93 yd kickoff return for the score. May hit the PAT, and the score was tied once again. 23 seconds after that, O-boro's Kal Prince was flagged for intentional grounding in his end zone. That put the Purples up 16-14, and that's the score going into halftime. Almost midway through the third qtr (6:15), Green caught a 36 yd scoring strike from Hollis. May's PAT made the score 23-14. OHS's Ealum intercepted a Hollis pass and returned it 61 yds to paydirt with 2:51 left in the third qtr. The PAT misfired, and the Purples were up 23-20. With 36 tics left on the clock, Hollis hit SR Tevin Anderson with a 7 yd toss for a score. May's PAT was true again, and the Purples went to the fourth qtr leading 30-20. The Purples put this one to rest on two runs for scores, one by Anderson on a 2 yd dive with 9:39 left, and the other by Hollis from 12 yds out at 1:47 left. May hit both PATs, and that was the final. Green scored three TDs for the second consecutive game!

As bad as this one got, it could have been worse. QB Scooter Hollis had two TD runs called back on penalties. Kinda sad to see after the last three games being all time classics in the series. Trinity comes to The Big El next week. Sic 'em, Purple!

The only score in the first qtr was a three yd run by JR Hunter Neveras. Will Porter ran in the 2pt conversion and, with 4:03 left in the first, BGHS led 8-0. At the 9:07 mark in the second qtr, JR Scooter Hollis ran it in from the eight yard line. JR Peter May booted the PAT, and the Purples led 15-0. With 7:05 left, lightning struck in the form of JR Brandon Green, who sped in from 44 yards. May again hit the PAT, and the Purples led 22-0. With only 20 tics left on the clock, BGHS finally surrendered the first points of the season. Nathan Nelms caught a short five yd pass from Christian Flores. Khyree Boards knocked the PAT through, and the Purples led 22-7 at the half. BGHS blew the game open in the third qtr. Neveras started the scoring parade by running 50 yds to paydirt. May knocked home the PAT, and BGHS led 29-7 with only 44 seconds gone in the third qtr. With 8:41 left, Green set sail on a 64 yard run. May nailed the PAT, and the Purples led 36-7. At the 5:25 mark, May hit on a 35 yd field goal to give the Purples a 39-7 lead. Then, with just 1:47 left in the qtr, Green scored another rushing TD, this one from three yards. May nailed the PAT once again, and the Purples led 46-7. Blake Pillow ended the Purples' scoring parade with a one yd plunge 11 seconds into the fourth qtr. JR Sam Williams booted the PAT, and BGHS led 53-7. Adarius Barnett had a six yd run with 2:27 left in the game. Boards kicked the PAT, and made the final score 53-14. The Purples are now only six wins away from 600 all time! Sic 'em, Purple!!

Coach, I know that your dad was with you last night....you did your mom and dad proud! Congrats!!!! You are not only a wonderful coach, however, a powerful influence in many lives. A big thanks to your wife and family for letting you achieve this great mark!! I know that it takes many hours away from them for you to be the wonderful coach, mentor, and friend that you are to so many!!!

With the Purples' 53-14 win over Warren East tonight, Kevin Wallace became only the 24th head coach in KY HS Football history to win 200 games in his career!! He won 45 games in ten seasons at his Alma Mater, Warren East. He has now won 155 games at BGHS, most in school history! It took him 14 seasons and four games to reach that total. I can't think of anybody who deserves a bigger pat on the back for a job well done! May there be many more wins in the future for you, Coach! JR Brandon Green scores three TDs and JR Hunter Neveras scores two TDs as the Purples roll again. East ends the BGHS shutout streak with two scores in the game. More to come in the morning! The Purples travel to the Dungeon to do battle with old rival Owensboro next week. Should be a great test for both squads!

The Purple defense certainly faced its toughest test to date tonight. Big Blue made it deep into Purple territory, but it ended on fourth and goal at the four with an incomplete pass. BGHS wins its 11th in a row over a great program. Kevin Wallace is now only one win away from the exclusive 200 win club!! I suspect that 'Fire is right...Big Blue has too much firepower to be held out of the end zone all night. Besides, this is one of the most heated rivalries in the Commonwealth, and the home team is as likely to lose as the visitor!:scared:

With 8:55 left in the first qtr, JR LB K.J. Cofer drew first blood with a fumble recovery in the end zone. SR Will Porter passed to SR RB Tevin Anderson for the 2pt conversion, and the Purples led 8-0. At the 4:08 mark, JR RB Brandon Green hauled in a pass from JR QB Scooter Hollis for a 48 yd score. The pass attempt failed, and BGHS was on top 14-0. The defense scored a team safety with just 1:32 left in the quarter for a 16-0 lead. Then, with just 43 tics left, Green snagged another TD pass from Hollis, this time from 38 yards. SR K Peter May booted the PAT, and BGHS led after one 23-0. The Purples put up three scores in the second qtr. Anderson scored on a 16 yd run and May booted the PAT at the 7:51 mark. JR RB Hunter Neveras scored on a 29 yard run with 5:11 mark. Porter threw to Neveras for the 2pt conversion to make the score 38-0. Then Anderson finished the first half scoring parade by snagging a 25 yd scoring strike from Hollis. May was successful again on the PAT, and BGHS was up 45-0 at the half. After a scoreless third qtr, FR Nacarius Fant scored on a three yd run just five seconds into the final stanza. JR DB Herbert Scruggs intercepted a pass and returned it for a score with 6:09 left. JR OLB Nick Durkalski punctuated the scoring parade by returning a fumble eight yards to paydirt with 4:24 left. JR K Sam Williams punctuated each score with a PAT, and the Purples win 66-0!:thumb: Next week, the Purples host old and heated rival Franklin-Simpson for Homecoming for their home opener!

As time ran out in the qtr, Williams hit on a FG from 32 yds out, and the Purples led 10-0. With 8:23 left in the second qtr, JR QB Scooter Hollis ran three yds to paydirt. SR Will Porter ran over the 2pt conversion, and BGHS led 18-0. At the 4:46 mark, Hollis hit JR Brandon Green with a 34 yd scoring pass. The Williams PAT made the score 25-0. With 1:24 left before halftime, JR Will Kilgore scored on a spectacular 68 yd pass play from Hollis. The PAT attempt failed, but the Purples went in at the half with a 31-0 lead. No times were given on the scores in the second half. SR RB Tevin Anderson, more noted for his power running, showed off his quickness on a 35 yd scoring run. The Williams PAT made it 38-0. JR Sam Wilson caught a 17 yd scoring pass from FR QB Devin Hayes. Williams' PAT rounded out the third qtr scoring, and the Purples led 45-0. The final score of the night occurred in the fourth qtr when Hayes ran the ball in from seven yds. The Williams PAT made the final score 52-0, and the second half gave BGHS an opportunity to show off some of the young talent the Purples have. The future indeed looks bright for Purple Nation!

I just went over some of the official numbers for the game. 41 yards total offense allowed...frightening!:scared: I sincerely hope that the Warriors will keep this as a learning tool and come out ripsnortin' against Somerset next week!:thumb:

The offense sure got its share of credit, and deservedly so. After a sluggish start, JR QB Scooter Hollis got the Purples roaring on all eight cylinders. But the defense was just short of magnificent. They flew to the ball and took no prisoners. JR DB Michael Bailey won the Defensive Player of the Game Award. On one SW posession, he almost had an interception for a score on one play and almost got a safety on another play. It was next to impossible for the Warriors to get outside. The 52-pt margin was the most one sided margin of victory in the history of this bowl series. The 52 points scored was also a new bowl record. It's a shame because SW played as hard as they could and deserved a better fate than this. I will post the scoring summary later in the morning when I get my paper. BGHS will play in the Independence Bank Border Bowl in Owensboro next week against Daviess Co. In the meantime, cammando, keep encouraging the guys to get better...I hope that the season gets better for the Warriors! Sic 'em, Purple!!!:clap::thumb:

The Southwestern guys never gave up on this game. They gave it their all....very proud of both teams. Congrats to BG!!!! Our offense could have been better....it is just going to take some time and practice. PH and I really enjoyed seeing Commando again!!! I hope you had a safe trip home and hope you did not see any deer along the way!

Guys...I did quote it, but, as BF knows, my computer has been acting up badly and it did not quote it the first time. I am happy it did the second time. I know that Highlands has been working for this -- so have we. It is amazing to me when a child of 5 year old--yes five--comes up to PH and asks if he can "slap skin" with Bulldog LOL LOL. This was the youngest that I am aware of, but children of all ages come up to PH and say this LOL. They tell us both that they have been working very hard to become a Purple and win the State Championship. It is a big dream for them. I think it is great that these young men have something to look forward to. It gives them dreams, hopes and goals.

Henry and Birdsfan....this is what I was answering to....I was not saying that you don't take teams lightly....I was simply answering a question....I thought that I could answer this question intelligently because I just saw them play!!! UM....please don't think that JH could not upset Highlands.....My Gosh, these boys are great. I would not take them lightly at all. Good luck to both teams....

what a great game! OMG, what a great game! Congrats to JH....PH and I talked to some of thier players and they are top notch. The Purples have nothing to hang their heads about. My gosh, you would have thought you were watching two pro teams play. Our guys NEVER gave up. Not once did they give up....2 seconds on the clock and they were still going. I really wish sometimes that both teams could win the game.....it is games like this that should not end up with one not winning...and yes, I would have thought the same way if we would have won. BGHS guys, you all are a great group of young men. For some of you, this will be your last high school game....for others, you will be here again next year. No matter, just remember this, you all have formed a great bond with each other. You all will still be team mates, even when you hit the old age of 40 LOL! Honestly, you all will never forget this game....I just hope when you look back, you will realize that this one game has already taught you a very important lesson....Never give up on anything, no matter what!!! You all are winners....this game did not change that in any way shape or form!!! GO PURPLES!!!!!
