Thanx, 'Fire! For what it's worth, Central had an excellent season this year and was a real force to be reckoned with. Personally, I really like your head coach. I'm sure he'll remember the guy in a wheelchair and a leather jacket saying, "Good luck, Mike!" I meant it. It was certainly a competitive game at first. Then, BGHS started resembling a snowball rolling downhill. All of us on our side were amazed, I can assure you.

The Purples got a bad game out of their system against Greenwood, never mind the fact that BGHS is the only team to beat the Gators in the past five games. The Purples came through when it counted Friday, but their full attention will be on the Dragons in Backyard Brawl II this week. I think that this one's going to be real close! Senior QB Scooter Hollis threw for four TDs, including two of 74 and 81 yards to sophomore WR Necarius Fant to lead the Purples to the rout. Hollis also had a 48 yd TD run to his credit. Seven different Purples scored, along with a team safety. So many weapons! The defense bent some but broke only once, on a six yd QB sneak. #3 for Apollo was an impressive RB. The Purples are looking forward to a rematch with district and county rival Greenwood (6-5) next week, but at Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field instead of the Swamp. The Purples were a machine in obliterating the Gators 62-12 last time the two teams met.:thumb:

I have to say Bowling Green.....It will also be Senior night for Bowling Green High football players....Congrats guys!!! I will say good luck to the Eagles....Play hard and play to win guys....who knows? You can't count on anything during playoff time!

The Dragons in a waltz. I saw Central against Trousdale Co and BGHS. Way too much for the other teams on their schedule, and the only other team besides St X and LexCath who could offer BGHS a decent game. A Dragon team at full strength is a mighty tough nut to crack.

Alma Mater simply has too many weapons, too much speed, too much size, too much strength...well, you get the idea. I'm happy for the Eagles that they made it to the Big Dance, but just not against the Purples. Better luck next time.

LexCath did a creditable job hanging with the Purples in the first half, and I applaud their effort. The Purples just had too much talent and experience coming back from last year. There's just so many weapons in BGHS's arsenal. It's been a great year to date. Yes, John Hardin is a possible road block, but don't forget that the Purples could wind up playing Warren Central again as well. Apollo at The Big El next week...sic 'em, Purple!!!

A bit of trivia about the 1996 game, which was the closest Greenwood ever came to beating BGHS. It was played in a driving rainstorm. The visitor's side of the field has a place where a lot of water can collect with no drainage. After that game, Gator Stadium started being referred to more commonly as the Swamp. They're quite proud of the nickname, and I don't blame them! It also happened to be the first Kevin Wallace coached BGHS team to play Greenwood. Excellent analysis, 'Fire! :thumb:

The Purples made it 19 out of 19 against the Gators at the Swamp tonight. It was the single highest point total and the third highest win margin in the series. Several personal foul penalties against the Gators helped the cause. Sr QB Scooter Hollis threw for four TD passes in the first half (all to different receivers). Four rushing TDs led by Brandon Green's two. Congratulations to the 2011 5A District Two Champions!!! Dominating defense by the Purples, as Central had trouble hanging on to the football. The Purples had more penalties tonight than in just about any other game this year to date, but that's a rivalry game for you. Sr RB Hunter Neveras scored twice on runs, and Sr QB Scooter Hollis was hit hard by three Dragons at the three yard line and still punched his way into the end zone, bringing the Purple crowd to their feet! I congratulate the Dragons on a hard fought game tonight. The Purples just were not going to allow the Dragons to beat them three consecutive games for the first time ever. BGHS seeks to take sole possession of the 5A District Two crown next week down Scottsville Road at Greenwood. Sic 'em, Purple!!:thumb:

Thanx for the reminder, 'Fire...forgot about that one! That game and the Friday game were the largest scoring efforts on the road for the Purples ever. Also, it was the sixth highest win margin ever for the Purples: 1932, 85 v Glasgow 1924, 79 v Whitesville 1931, 78 v Earlington 2005, 70 at Adair County 2006, 70 at Logan County 2011, 69 at Logan County

HUGE game in two weeks in the Backyard Brawl with also unbeaten Warren Central. This one might be the all-time classic in this series. Should draw a monster crowd at Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field!!:thumb:

Nine different Purples scored (unless a tenth different player scored the lone 2pt conversion) in this game. Sr RB Hunter Neveras scored on a one yd run and a 45 yd pass play from Sr QB Scooter Hollis, and So RB Blue Tisdale scored on runs of 32 and seven yards!:clap:

:banana: Way to go guys!!! YEAH PURPLES!!!! Both teams should be proud of their games...we did not go, but, listened to it on the radio. Logan Co. seemed to give it their all. That is all anyone can ever ask of the guys!!

Good call, guys...it was Alma Mater's second game ever! They played later in the season and the Purples won at the Warren Co Fairgrounds for their first win ever.:thumb:

Awww...the late great Monie Beard and a guy named Bulldog....They both can be quoted as saying "....and the freight train just keeps on a-rollin!!"...... Bowling Green wins this one. Our guys are looking better and better every game!!!

It was classic short-field football for the Purples with a few exceptions. To the Trojans' credit, they played very hard, but simply shot themselves in the foot way too much. Three Purples scored twice each (Hunter Neveras, Jalen Hunter, and Brandon Green). Nacarius Fant returned a kickoff 84 yds for a score, and Blake Pillow ended the scoring with a 67 yd scamper. It was the Purples' first district contest, and they trail only Warren Central in the race currently (2-0) after Central's pummelling of Greenwood last night. BGHS will resume district play in Russellville against Logan County next week. It will be their last game before the open date on 7 October. Keep the freight train rollin', Purples!!!

Way to go Purples!!! I briefly talked with the coach of Barren Co. He seemed to be a very nice individual....then, I talked with some of the parents, they were nice as well....Great group of people! I am very proud of our guys and coaches! They are always great year in and year out. I am happy that my hubby got me involved with such a wonderful program! I have really enjoyed this football season. The weather has been perfect, have seen some faces from the past, and PH has felt as well this year as he did bad last. I love it when the fans range from all ages and come year after year to support thier team. That shows how wonderful and dedicated Bowling Green High fans are! That says a lot from someone that did not even attend this school.

I researched the BGHS/Owensboro series this morning. The 62 points was a series record for either team. The previous record was 45 points by Owensboro in 1956 and tied by BGHS in 1997. The 1956 performance by Owensboro was achieved against a Purples team that went 0-9-1 that year and was in the midst of a 26 game winless streak where BGHS seriously considered dropping football!

Total domination by the Purples. Second most points ever scored by the Purples against the Red Devils and the biggest win margin ever by the Purples in the series. This was the 70th game in the series that started in 1932. Great way to celebrate Head Coach Kevin Wallace's 200th game coached at BGHS!!:thumb:
