The Spartan defense is unscored upon so far this year. They will host Greenwood next week, and the Spartans are extremely hard to beat at home. Don't be surprised if Sparty takes the Gators next week after the Gators had a tough time with AC-S tonight! :thumb: -

I agree, however, it would be wonderful for WKU to get him!!! I would love to see my school pick up a lot of players like him. -

I can vouch that PurplePride92 is a proud product of BGHS and is a solid member of Purple Nation. I had shared many posts with him before now, but I finally met him in our win over Cooper at WKU. He just happens not to live here anymore (and no grudge for that...he's happy where he is).:thumb: All we wanted to do was be proud of our team and I prefer it be done in a way that reeks of class and not put anybody else's program down. That's not the Purple Way. And we do not have to ask permission from others to be proud of our program. When our people get out of line here and I see it or hear it, I tell them in no uncertain terms to back off. In 2009, the Highlands football team worked out at our facility. Now, just to show that this is no lie, the BGHS principal is a Newport High grad and played football there. He knows many people who work at HHS. He said that the administration, the coaching staff, and the majority of the players loved our facility. That meant the world to me, especially since it was the 40th anniversary of our proud facility. Now, THAT'S class on both ends!!:irked: -

....And besides....Who cares if a team wins a game or not? We all would like to see our team win, however, in the long run, the boys that don't pull off the W will lean more in adulthood. Not everything smells of roses all the time. It is how an individual handles not being the best at everything that ends up being the winner in the end. A person, or team, that handles winning all the time with grace, honor, and dignity is the real winner. A winner that rubs it in constantly is really the loser at the sport and in life. Conversely, a person, or team that handles a loss or many losses with grace, honor and dignity is the true winner....if the person or team knows they did their best can hold their heads up high and know that they did not let themselves, their team, or anyone else down....these are the people that I am most proud of.....the ones who can lose and not be losers!!! -

Oh my goodness!!!! Threadjacking at its finest! I tell you what....All the teams are great. These boys and their parents spend many hours getting ready for games. They do not get paid, they are not famous, and they are just kids.....They are doing it for the love of the game and to build memories!!! Sometimes they are doing it for scholarships.....We are the adults here...or maybe in just age.....I have read so many threads where individuals get upset that someone else is proud of their team....lots of threadjacking goes on.....it is crazy. Sometimes I wonder if the boys out on the field are more mature than us adults.....good grief!!!! -

Offensive Player of the Game: You need to ask??? Defensive Player of the Game: Tyler Jopes, LB, 5-9, 170. Almost ran back an interception for a score. Had his hands full with LexCath's plethora of receivers and really good running backs. This game was a total team effort, as pretty much everybody contributed to the win. Just like last year, the Purples had to come from behind to win, and the score could have been worse with a break here and there. BGHS will travel to LexCath to play in their bowl game against Bryan Station Saturday, while LexCath will take on BGHS's third opponent, St Xavier. We had a great time at the game, highlighted by a special guest for the coin flip: former BGHS and US Military Academy QB Trent Steelman! I got to salute my superior officer, and he returned in kind. I also saw his older brother, Tyson, who is the QB Coach at South Warren. Their father, Bob Steelman, certainly did a super job raising two sons, and I'm very proud of both of them! They both will always be my boys too! I also saw two other great Purples tonight: my classmate (Class of 1977) and QB Doug Beard, and his elder son Ryan, who play a whole lot of football at WKU as a DB. Their father, the late Monie Beard, was a mentor to literally over a thousand Purples in his too short lifetime. It was a great night for Mrs PH and me! I got my photo made with a very influential lady in our community as well, Mr. Beard's widow, Betty Jo, a fellow BGHS graduate! This will be a night neither of us will soon forget!:thumb::thumb::thumb: I'd also like to mention that my in-laws just moved in from WA State a few months ago and my brother-in-law had never seen a football game before. He got his eyes full tonight with two games, and has become a bona fide BGHS Fan immediately. Purple Nation has welcomed him with open arms! -
You're a little ahead, HD...South Warren is still in 3A, but will move up to 4A in the next realignment. Otherwise, I agree with you. They definitely could have a legitimate shot for a long playoff run this season!

Warren Central's lack of experience, especially on the offensive line, appeared glaring tonight. Here's hoping that they get some needed experience...quick!:thumb: Madisonville facing a very experienced Owensboro team in 4A will be worth seeing...I think that this will be a very gritty game! -
All of the Spartans' scoring was done in the first half. Sounded very dominant in that first half, as East had no answer for them. Very much lived up to preseason hype. Coach Nelson has a fine, experienced, and talented team that looks like it just might make a long run in the 3A playoffs if it can keep up their level of play.
