BGHS clinches 5A District Two on Homecoming Night! The Purples are 26-1 on Homecoming Night since 1985, when current Purples Head Coach Kevin Wallace coached Warren East to a 6-0 win in East's only win ever over the Purples. The Purples have not given up a touchdown in 21 consecutive quarters now, and during that time frame, have allowed only one FG to Owensboro back in September. Not too shabby for a defense that returned only one starter from last year! Junior QB Devin Hayes tied his own school record (set against Logan Co earlier in the season) with five TD passes in the game. All were thrown in the first half and were thrown to four different receivers. Junior AP All State WR Nacarius Fant caught two, and is one away from D.L. Moore's single season record of 13 (Moore is in his senior year at South Carolina). Returning punts and kickoffs for scores was supposed to be Greenwood's specialty, but Fant took a punt back 71 yards for a score, and junior RB Blake Pillow took a kickoff back 85 yards for another score. Pillow also caught a short TD strike from Hayes. According to the local newspaper, the Purples allowed only 71 yards to the potent Gator offense after a stellar performance against Warren Central last week. The reserves allowed Greenwood only two yards in the second half. Hayes now has 26 TD passes on the season and is only two short of the school record set by Scooter Hollis just last year. The Purples have now won 24 games in a row overall and eleven at the hallowed grounds of Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field. Junior QB Devin Hayes threw two TD passes, 15 yds to junior RB Blue Tisdale, and 23 yds to All-State junior WR Necarius Fant. Tisdale also scored on a 38 yd run. Soph K Hunter Hanks booted all three PATs and a 21 yd FG. The Purples scored once in each quarter. The BGHS defense has grown from a unit with only one starter returning from last year's team and a somewhat unknown quantity into a unit that almost completely shut down the vaunted Dragon rushing machine and rendered three year starting QB Michael Bush ineffective in passing. Unreal. The Purples made the big plays when they had to and allowed the Dragons into the Red Zone only once all game. I'm certainly not saying this because I'm rubbing salt into a wound. I'm saying it because it is fact and I'm still shaking my head. I pictured a super tight ball game decided by the team with the last posession. I have a sneaking suspicion that we will meet again in the playoffs as we did last year. The Purples will host another county rival, Greenwood, for Homecoming and to sew up the 5A District Two race for 2012 next week. Happy Homecoming! :thumb:

The Purples' JV team scored the only touchdown of the game with just over two minutes left in the third quarter for the win. Their record is now 5-1 and have outscored their opponents 142-19. They will finish their season on 15 October at Allen County-Scottsville. :thumb:

Thursday night, the freshman Purples and Dragons had quite a defensive war with the Purples' PAT providing the winning margin. The BGHS freshman team is now 6-0 on the season, and they have outscored their opposition 149-30.:thumb:

The BGHS JV team suffers its first loss on the season tonight in a super defensive battle against one of Tennessee's premier gridiron programs. After a scoreless first half, the Purples had a chance to win as they went for a two pt conversion. Unfortunately, it failed. The JV Purples are now 4-1 and have outscored their opposition 135-19 on the season.

Barren Co fumbled the opening kickoff to BGHS, then on the first play from scrimmage, RB Blake Pillow scored on a 26 yd pass from QB Devin Hayes. Spencer Renfro ran the ball for the two pt conversion, and BGHS leads 8-0.:clap:

Congrats to our BGHS guys!! It was the first time that I had ever been to that stadium...I really enjoyed it. Owensboro really had nice fans there. They were asking about our guys...They were very impressed with the Bowling Green team.

No offensive firepower on the Red Devils' side. BGHS was just beginning to get Uncle Mo going on offense at Henderson Co when the storm sirens went off in the second qtr. It certainly won't be 62-0 like last year, but it will be the Purples comfortably in the 71st game of this old WKC series.

Correction: I got a bad source on the final score, it was 36-0. BGHS JV point differential is actually 129-12.

Game played Monday at Ohio Co. The JV Purples' record is now 4-0 and have outscored their opponents by a combined 131-12. Next game is Monday next week hosting Greenwood.

This game was called with about seven minutes left in the first half due to rough weather, according to the radio station that carries BGHS Football. In the first qtr, junior RB Blue Tisdale scored on an eleven yard run. Freshman K Hunter Hanks booted the PAT and the Purples led 7-0 with about five minutes left in the quarter. Henderson Co scored on a one yard run and kicked the PAT to tie the score. A Henderson Co penalty on the final play of the first quarter allowed junior QB Devin Hayes to hook up with junior WR Necarius Fant on a 44 yard pass play on an untimed play. Hanks hit the PAT, and the Purples led 14-7. On the last play before play was called with warning sirens going off, Fant set sail on an 80 yard punt return, and Hanks booted the PAT once again. They called the game just after 8:30 Central Time. BGHS moves to 4-0 on the season, while Henderson Co goes to 2-2. The Purples will play one of their oldest rivalries next week as they travel to Owensboro for the 71st meeting in that rivalry. Sic 'em, Purple!!:thumb:
