  1. I knew that the Gators' bubble would burst sometime soon, but I believe that their 3-0 start was the best in team history. Will they come back and win next week? Good comeback for Big Blue after getting lambasted by BGHS last week!:thumb::thumb:
  2. I sure hope so, Irish Cat! The Red Devils did a little tuning up themselves with their demolition of Daviess Co. Looks like it's shaping up to be a good old fashioned no-holds-barred bare knuckles WKC gut buster! The series started in 1932, and Owensboro has beaten us more than anybody (38 times)!! I hope we can put up #27 on them next week! Can't wait for this one!! I also can't wait to see some new BGP friends I met at the playoff game last year, and see one old friend I graduated with in 1977!:banana::banana:
  3. Good win for the Dragons...three in a row now!:thumb:
  4. Final on Homecoming Night!:clap:More to follow.
  5. You got it, Ox!! Maybe they'll get Skip Bond and the Fugitives to play at the stadium once again (they're like the Blues Brothers)!! The whole stadium (even the students) will be twistin' then!!! :dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa
  6. I like this one, Ox!!!:clap:I never played against Buehner's father Rick, but I played for BGHS about that time...he was truly a great one. Looks like his son is a chip off the old block...with a better arm!:thumb:
  7. I don't like Greenwood that much (being a huge BGHS fan!), but I'm proud that Greenwood is 3-0 this year, maybe for the first time since the varsity started playing in 1990. I like the Hoptown Tigers (even though they're an old WKC rival!), but the Gators deserve a pat on the back. I hope they can keep it up as their schedule gets tougher!
  8. In this tradition-laden rivalry, the Purples make it ten in a row over the Wildcats. JR QB Chandler Sears, after having no TD passes in the first two games, threw three tonight. JR TE/DE Jake Hodges rumbled with a 31 yd fumble return for a score late in the first half. SO RB Brandon Green caught two TD passes (one from Sears, the other from SO QB Scooter Hollis). SR RB Lavance Anderson scored on two short bursts (five, one). The first half was sloppy, but the Purples really took advantage of Big Blue miscues in the second half. Next week, the Purples are home for the first time this season, the 40th anniversary of Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field. They will host Warren East for Homecoming, and I can't wait!:thumb:
  9. Stick a fork in it...it's done!:clap::thumb:
  10. SR WR Wes Cole catches a TD pass from Sears! The PAT was blocked, and BGHS has the 51-9 lead against Big Blue!
  11. After recovering the fumble and returning the ball to the BGHS eight, Big Blue's Patrick Flippin scores from two yards out. PAT missed, and the Purples lead 45-9.
  12. SR WR Sam Howard caught a 63 yd scoring pass from Sears! K Sam Williams (Zach's cousin) boots the PAT, and the Purples lead going into the fourth qtr 45-3!:clap:
  13. L. Anderson one yd TD plunge at 8:13 in the third, Z. Williams PAT. Purples up 38-3 now!
  14. SR OLB Alfred Gilbert recovers the fumble at the F-S 25!:clap:
  15. SO RB Michael Bailey returns the opening kickoff to the F-S 35 yd line, then SO RB Green scores on the first play from scrimmage on the pass from SO QB Scooter Hollis! Z. Williams boots the PAT, and the Purples lead 31-3!:thumb:
  16. SR K Zach Williams has booted four FGs so far this year...the record by an individual is seven at BGHS, and the team record for one season is eight. Nice going, Zach!!:thumb:
  17. Jake Hodges scores at 0:08 on a 31 yd fumble return! Halftime: Purples 24, Big Blue 3!!:thumb:
  18. Zach Williams hits a 21 yd FG at 0:21 left in the 2nd qtr. BGHS 17, Big Blue 3.
  19. Big Blue punts, Purples ball on the BGHS 43.
  20. Wow!! SO RB Brandon Green, on the second play after Big Blue's FG, hauled in a 65 yd TD pass from JR QB Chandler Sears!! Purples lead 14-3!!:clap:
  21. K Colin McElroy hit on a 35 yd FG, and the Purples now lead 7-3. I'm sure that I had a bunch of relatives glad about that FG!
  22. This thing is pretty tight, but then this is one of the great rivalries in KY high school football! The only score so far was a five yd run by SR RB Lavance Anderson with 5:34 left in the first qtr. Zach Williams booted the PAT, and the Purples lead 7-0 into the second qtr!:thumb:
  23. Great job Purples!!! Keep up the good work and you will work Miracles!!!
  24. The Purples take the nightcap in the doubleheader at the Independence Bank Border Bowl @ KWC. SR RB Lavance Anderson scored twice on the ground (43 and 36 yds). SR WR Sam Howard and JR TE Tyler Gibbs each caught a TD pass from SO QB Scooter Hollis. Two SO RBs, Brandon Green and Montel Carpenter, made their marks with impressive scoring runs as well. Green's run went for 35 yards, and Carpenter's was a new team record 99 yards!! SR Zack Williams nailed his third FG of the young season. The defense was extremely impressive once again except for a late short TD toss by the Aces, the first given up by the Purples this season. All in all, an outstanding effort by the Purples! Next week, BGHS will travel to Franklin to renew the hot rivalry with Franklin-Simpson...it might be a real good one!:thumb:
  25. Stick a fork in this one, 'cuz it's done!:thumb:
