You read WAY too much into my comment. I didn't say the teams didn't work hard or play good defense. I simply said neither ran very good offenses. That's only one part of the game. They both played strong aggressive defense and got after it very well. Effort often can overcome a lack of efficiency . The big boy getting double digit rebounds and getting points off of many of them supports that.

Dixie's Matt Trammell is the best FROSH guard I've seen this year.

Neither team played well offensively. They got their points on steals, breaks, and offensive rebounds. I didn't see many sets tonight that resulted in points.

Let me add that I'd take Boone's Jordan Oppenheimer on any team I had. The kid is poised, smooth, tough, and has talent. He's the glue to that team IMO.

Let me preface the following with the fact that every school has fans that yell too much and too loudly. No one school owns that distinction and its an age old problem. With that said, Eric Deters owes everyone an apology because he flat out embarrassed not only himself and his family but the SK community. While I can see that it was him that lost his mind, some will simply generalize as "SK fans." When you don't like a call and run down 5 or 6 rows of stands to get close to the official while he's reporting a foul and you drop the big expletive on the official, you no longer deserve to sit in the stands. Add to it that the official was right (learn the rules, Eric) and top it off with him waiting outside the officials room after the game so that he could once again attack them and you've got man (and I use that term in its loosest sense) who needs to get some help. I can't tell you how many people said to each other after the game "did you see that one guy in the hat?" I truly feel bad for his child and would challenge him to take a step back and determine if that is acceptable behavior. Even if the officials were bad , and they weren't, there is simply no excuse for the lunacy that was Eric Deters.

To be honest, the only difference was that the students were actually in attendance against Holmes. They didnt make any noise but they were there.

The Birds played 6 guys against Holmes on Thursday. The Birds then lost 2 of those 6. So Willie was playing at one player in his 5 that got no action against Holmes plus brought bench players in that played zero minutes against the Dogs. The Birds are going to have to win in the tourney with 6 (7 if Simpson returns) players. That can be a challenge.

Why? Good question. However, it would open up the possibiliity of a player going up for a jumper and then , realizing its not a good choice, start his dribble before he lands. It would also put the defense at a disadvantage on the perimeter when you would be allowing an offensive player to essentially get a running start before he even dribbles.

A 2 man ref will not call as many fouls/see as many fouls on an aggressive defensive team like the Birds and, for that matter, Holmes.

Agreed. As I stated earlier with Wireman, its hard to "read into" what the words mean. When you say "start a dribble," does that mean at anytime? Before the pivot foot is lifted? After? When it comes to rules, the details matter and this type of forum where you can't immediately ask or hear makes it more challenging.

The 4.0 is only one component. The ACT is the other. I can tell you that a top-notch student coming to UM is not automatically getting scholarship money. My neighbor scored in the 30s on his ACT and got a $10k scholarship. That sounds nice until you realize its about $40k to attend UM. Supply and demand is only UM's side.
