Fair question. I'm not going to agree on the passing area or help defense. Almost every time I've watched HC , Sorrell has been in the middle of a 2-3 zone to protect him from fouls. They're two different and complementary players.

I assume these happened in high school using FED rules. I can't imagine the justification for interference on #1 on a play at the plate. I think there is a misconception that in high school a player HAS to slide if there is a "play" at the plate. That's not correct. The rule simply says that he can't jump over a standing player nor can he "truck" the catcher.

I had a tight game where the head umpire in the league called a "fielder's balk" because our LH 1b had his left foot in foul ground while holding the runner. I told him that it wasn't a rule and that it was a myth. I lost that argument.

If my memory is correct, in OBR its a judgement as to whether the interference effected the runner's ability to score. So, the "country mile" margin would most likely result in an out since he's only protected to 3rd base. In Fed, I'm guessing that the runner is awarded home - one base he would have gotten plus one more.

I would go with the thinking that its a force since the runner never touched first .However, many umpires say that the only way the runner can be put out is to tag them. Apparently, there is a ruling/interpretation that says there must be a tag. That surprises me.

He's not "too good for Northern." NKU currently has 3 or 4 D1 players on their roster. He would be a nice addition to the Norse but he would not start as a FROSH.

I'd say TG plays the appropriate amount of minutes. He doesn't really have the offensive skills needed to play a lot of varsity minutes on this particular team.
