Your defense of Coach Matney is admirable as loyalty is always good. I stated in my original post that this is not a shot at Coach Matney. I'd take the money, too, if offered. My question is two-fold. First, is it true that he makes that and who pays it? Secondly, does this show that high school football is going the way of college and pro? Before you say "yes," I'd argue that high school sports do not have the revenue streams that college and pro do so that makes $100k difficult to justify.

There's simply no way he makes $100k , its paid by the school system, and he doesn't teach. No way. Right?

I'm with you , 2C. Even if the kid knew it was against the rules but you had family and coaches saying it was OK, what's the kid going to do?

So he teaches full-time, is the head football coach, AND the head wrestling coach? Busy man but not unique. I'm trying to figure out what makes this particular gentleman a 6-figure guy.

If I'm understanding correctly from another thread, Coach Matney of Johnson Central makes approximately $100k per year. I'm stunned. Is this an isolated case? Does he teach full-time at JCHS as in 6 or 7 classes per day? Does the district pay his full $100k salary? Note: God bless him if he's getting paid this much. My post is not a criticism of him. Its a serious question of priorities in the state of KY.

1. NDA sports are not well supported by fans. Vball does well. The rest do not. 2. Nice move by the HC students. I saw that once at a CCH-Scott b-ball game. 3. NDA seems to be hitting their stride at the right time.

They may have played 8 but they could not win without their top 5 playing 28 to 30 minutes. In a man, you expose Cory to early foul trouble and then you have zero scorers left - athletes yes - scorers no. They took their only shot and it failed. That happens.

That was the only bright spot.

When you have no bench and you have to protect your scorer, you play the 2-3 and live with it. Unfortunately, it gives up shots and it gives up offensive rebounds. HC didn't have the manpower to play man.

It would be a waste of time for a fan of either side to try to rationalize the first game these two played. If you're Holmes, you say your team missed so many easy shots. If you're CCH, you say that your team only had one ballhandler to handle the press and now they will have two. Both are legit. Tossup IMO.

Oh, yes. The youngster that looks VERY young. He does have a nice-looking shot. I've just never seen him shoot much in games. Good for him.

When you say "on the bench" do you mean someone other than the head coach?
