The best performers tonight were Chikeze, Amanda, Carly, Brooke, and David Cook.
The little kid is just OK. The girl that pouted after her dreadful performance should have been immediately kicked off.
Speed is great - IF you can get on base. Votto is a strong OBP guy which is what you want, right? You can't score regardless of how fast you are if you don't get on base. Votto draws lots of walks which is why you say Hatteberg should bat leadoff.
Phillips is a power guy - not a high OBP guy.
But one of the factors in determining the top 25, 50, etc is team and conference SOS, thus, its a factor.
I'm not sure how you can ignore the mathematical side of this but I have a 6:00 alarm awaiting me so we'll resume this tomorrow.
All other things being equal and they're not going to look at the strength of the conference a team comes from?
If not , then what is the deciding factor?
Who said it was straight RPI? You and GT are saying conference strength/RPI don't matter. Of course it matters since its part of the overall RPI calc. If the RPI is a factor (and please tell me we agree that it is) then by simple mathematical deduction, conference RPI matters.
Did it hit the Rock girl before it went across the division line?
If they both saw what they think they saw and both called it at the same time, that's the rule. Usually, you hope there is a slight hesitation when both blow their whistles to let one call it but if they both call it, they did the right thing by rule.
But part of the conference RPI is the accumulation of the above and other factors. So to say its not a factor is to ignore what the rating consists of.
I see it used this way. Two teams are in contention for a seed or even getting in. All things being equal or close, they then look at the combination of SOS and conference they play in.
UK has a SOS of 12 in a conference with an RPI of 4. Are you going to say that doesn't weigh into the equation?
Are you saying its not a factor in the room next weekend?
There's not one team in the Big East that is top of the charts scary good/dominant. Its strong but it also has 16 teams to pick from.
I don't understand why the average RPI has any bearing when they've already calculated the league RPI.
1. ACC
2. PAC 10
3. Big 12
4. SEC
5. Big East
6. Big 10
You telling me that the average is 80 has about as much bearing as you telling me that the SOS is 5. That's already been factored in and the results are what they are.
