Theoldguy Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 That should be #2 CovCath vs. #3 Cov Holy Cross Correct you are sir: :thumb: Sorry for the typo, but I think most understood what I meant to type.
Sandman Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Are the games at Holmes? I thought it was Beechwood's turn to host the district.
Eta Rho Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Are the games at Holmes? I thought it was Beechwood's turn to host the district. I think it's at Holmes, but Beechwood is still hosting it. Could be wrong though. It's a good idea IMO. Gives more fans an opportunity to come to the games and gives the players a bigger stage to play on than CCH, HOly Cross, and Beechwood where the gyms are tiny.
Ol'Coach Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 The district is at Holmes and Holmes is hosting. KHSAA website lists Beechwood as hosting, and they had planned on doing so up to the deadline for filing the necessary paperwork. Beechwood decided against it and Holmes was next in line.

Holmes should be the favorite to win districts having it at home and not meeting CCH on a neutral floor.
Flotsam Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 What is up with Beechwood? They have a very solid team that would have had a "punchers chance" to score an upset on their home court against Holmes. Instead, they pass on playing the Districts at home. In so doing, they get Holmes at Holmes. Wish I could be present when they 'splain that decision to the parents. Think that would happen to the Tiger's football team??

Beechwood has no chance of beating Holmes whether it was played at Beechwood or on a neutral site.
Flotsam Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 In passing on the Districts, Beechwood does not get Holmes on a neutral site. They get Holmes at Holmes. Beechwood played Cov. Cath very solid in Park Hills. They have a victory against Holy Cross. Playing the Dawgs at home....stranger things have happened. (19-0 Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots)

Ol'Coach Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Anyone know how many Beechwood's gym holds?
Sandman Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I think it's at Holmes, but Beechwood is still hosting it. Could be wrong though. It's a good idea IMO. Gives more fans an opportunity to come to the games and gives the players a bigger stage to play on than CCH, HOly Cross, and Beechwood where the gyms are tiny. It's a poor decision by those at Beechwood who made the choice. Parking and capacity would have been an issue, but are also issues at CovCath and Holy Cross and they still host. Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton, and Villa all host when it's their year.

[b']Beechwood decided against it and Holmes was next in line.[/b] If Beechwood decided against hosting, wouldn't CovCath be next in line? Doesn't C come before H in the alphabet? I don't know the details, and am not questioning your facts, but it looks like the next school on the list would have been asked first. Still can't believe Beechwood not only gave up the districts, but elected not to "host". Should have gone and gotten TMC, NKU, or even President's Park before turning over the district to their first round opponent.

Sandman I am pretty sure CovCath hosted last year, and Cov Holy Cross the year before that, so it was Holmes turn. Really doesn't make sense to me, that Beechwood gave up the right to not even host. Think about this! Do you honestly think Beechwood would ever tell the KHSAA that they wouldn't host a football playoff game?
