  1. Wow... 43 passing attempts. No wonder the game did not end until 1:00am! :creepy: I do not think there were more than 25 total passing attempts by both schools at the game I attended last evening.
  2. I am not 100% sold on the theory that two-a-days is the missing link to Dixie's conditioning woes. I think if the coaching staff could install two-a-days at Dixie than I am sure they would. Will three weeks of two-a-days make that much of an impact to the program as far as conditioning? Probably not. Two-a-days are generally geared towards all of the fundamentals of football such as installing new plays, run and pass blocking, timing, etc. Conditioning should start the first day after the last game of the prior season. That responsibility and committment belongs to the athlete, not entirely upon the coaches shoulders. Do the Dixie players have the committment to take the program to the next level? Season has just started and time will tell...
  3. How did the E-town QB perform? He is a former player of Paul Gray and continues to this day to get training from Paul. The QB is getting recruited from a number of D-1 schools.
  4. Congrats to Coach Deaton and the footballers from DAYTON! Coach Deaton had a great guy watching over him during the game... his father Reno, a terrific highschool football supporter and fan, sadly passed away earlier this year. Congrats Coach Deaton... there will be many more V's to come in your future.
  5. The visiting Beechies win this one 21 - 17! Congrats Beechwood Tigers. Two 1A schools take on and beat two 5A schools in N Ky this week... Wow! When was the last time this happened? (Dayton over Holmes and Beechwood over Dixie)
  6. WhoozYoDaddy: Could not have said it better... the coaching staff takes all of the blame for all of the shortfalls we love to point out on Friday nights. HHS coaches do not get nearly enough credit for all of the positives that take place on the practice field, in the classrooms, in the homes with their families and at church on Sundays. Coach Mueller spends a great deal of time with the Jr. Football League - because he cares about the youth and he knows that he can make a positive impact on their lives prior to entering the HHS football program. As stated, we dwell on shortfalls on Friday nights but forget about how the coaches develop our student athletes the other 364 days of the year...
  7. Saw the news footage of the bridge collapsing and it appears that the north and south piers collapsed at the same time. When I first saw the story hit the air waves, I thought it started on one end and rippled to the other. Not the case... Also, there is thought that the train below could have caused a vibration that set the chain of events into motion. Continuous vibration from trains over time could have caused structural damage to the piers... Will be interesting when the mystery is solved...
  8. Don't dare touch my Party Source... while I may have spent many a quality time at the Vets ballfields w/ my boys... I have certainly enjoyed the refreshments more at the Party Source to help me get through the weekends.
  9. Congrats GT! As a former manager once asked me and I will ask you the same, " Is your bride sight impaired?" I fell for it and I said, "No, she can see fine." Then he would say, "Well, why in the world did she marry you?" Beautifull young lady and I wish you many happy years and little gts in the future...
  10. Excellent! What if you suctioned up all those black rubber pellets? Would that give Bell County an advantage? It would definately take the spring out of their step...
  11. I voted for Starky and Hutch Ford Gran Torino. My dad got one in my early teen years when the show was at its prime. It was a stripped down business car - blue with white trim. It was awesome - but never got the chance to take it out on the open road! If I could have any of the previously mentioned cars - I would take Bond's Astin Martin. That car is probably worth close to a million!
  12. The Daily Dependent - Ashland Kentucky. The million-dollar project is being funded through coal severance money, which is provided to coal counties for community upgrades. Simply put, those who work in the coal mines get to see the fruits of their labor benefit their children and other kids in the state. Matney said it was one of the biggest victories for his team — the community — in a long time. “We feel like there has been billions of dollars that have left the eastern Kentucky coal mines and gone off to Philadelphia, New York and other parts of the country,” Matney said. “The kids of eastern Kentucky have had very little to show for it. We are fighting to keep the money here and this is a perfect example of what kids in eastern Kentucky should have.”
  13. Henry521 - I kind of remember how junior broke his wrist. Was it football related or was it something else? Didn't something kind of flip over on him? By the way, weren't two of my boys with him when that happened? It's all starting to come back now... Bluto - A life lesson indeed. After sitting on the sidelines for awhile - he WILL have one heck of an appetite when he returns! Best of luck to a full and fast recovery...
  14. Agree 100%! I had a chance to meet and talk to Chuck Smith this Spring. He is trying to change the past recruiting practices and looking in state.... time will tell if proof is in the pudd'n!
  15. Great response! I would support that 100% Maybe for another thread.... But how do you feel about female football referees? Had one in N Ky for several years. Haven't seen her lately but she was the white hat.
  16. He is OK in my book. The 30 on the ACT will land him in D3 for sure, and if he has a standout year - DI will be calling in the winter! Good Luck to the young man...
  17. I travel the AA quite often to get to business contacts in Maysville, Portsmouth and Ashland. I tried counting the crosses on the side of the road from Campbell County all the way down towards Grayson. It's flat out scary to think that many, and probably a lot more, have lost their lives on that road. I do not speed on the AA. It seems that every trip I make on the AA the State Police is going the opposite direction w/ radar. IMO, the intersection fatalities are probably the leading cause of deaths on the AA. In the US, 30% of all accidents take place at intersections. 40% of fatalities are at intersections. Type of intersection accident: T-bone. Most vulneralbe part of the car being struck - the side. I wouldn't think route 8 is any safer. Per car volume, I am thinking the ratio of car traffic to car fatality may be very close. Very little escape route on 8, you have the drink (Ohio River) on one side and developed trees about 9' on the other side. Besides, you have to watch out for all those river camps along the Ohio on the weekends. Party goers and trains pulling out in front of you! Eh.. skip the trains comment. We pull in front of trains... L-neck, be careful in your travels on the 8. Mrs L-neck would be quite upset if you dinged that red man machine.
  18. Sounds like the time our church put a new addition onto the existing structure. The contractor struck the septic tank we never new we had... We never could figue out that occasional awful smell in the kitchen for all those years and now we know why... this is a fairly old chuch in the middle of a city of 17,000... :creepy:
  19. Started at left tackle as a frosh and now going into his 3rd year of playing. I think the playing weight is 172lbs...
  20. I heard that BC was getting back on track for a great season this year. The frosh squad was impressive last year and many of the JV players are muturing into some real talent. Perhaps that's the reason why some of the seniors to be are leaving... They also picked up another coach that many BC faithfull seemed to be pleased about.
  21. Are we going to get a chance to see Cole in N Ky prior to the playoffs?
  22. Haven't seen their complex yet... when I or if I get the opportunity... I may light another fuse. Regarding the funding... I have said all along its not your fault, I am sure we would do the same thing IF we had the funding. My gripe is with the inequitable funding formula. I hope you guys have a great season. Nothing at all against Johnson County and I am especially pulling for the boys! Too bad we are in different class brackets... I would enjoy the visit to JC during the playoffs!
  23. Wow! Feel better now? I asked early on in this thread how was the complex funded - no one seemed to know. Apparently you are in the dark as well and I take it you live in Johnson County. My first assumption was that there was an endowment or money from boosters and other groups. That's how we funded our Field Turf. The parents painted the stadium and a local paint supply store donated the paint. Several times during the season, dads paint the hashmarks on the field because we did not have enough money to have them installed. IMO there are folks on BGP that would like to know how these complexes are funded so that they may be able to pursue the same avenues in securing funding for a similar complex. I have not seen Bryan Station, Letcher County, Dunbar and Belfry's sports complex. I was just asking how JC funded theirs. It would do the faithful in the hamlet little good by trying to light a fire under the school district office. First of all, the major part of the original structure burned down in a major fire in th late 60's. Secondly, if there is no money to spend on improving the infrastructure raising a little heck is pointless. In fact I think our school district and its community has great vision and leadership as they are able to accomplish many things for its students without the type of funding you are receiving. You keep you coal severance - we keep our school tax and SEEK monies in Northern Kentucky.
  24. The boys still have the cd. Just got a new hard drive and the youngest re-installed the game. :thumb:
