  1. It still on this machine as a shortcut... its a classic!
  2. And where have you gigoloed? Not that I am interested...
  3. Johnson Central - has lights and CHEERLEADERS! :dancingpa
  4. I wish the team the best of luck this season. It's fun to watch a team in these meaningless 7 on 7's and track their progress during the season. I am sure you are 100% regarding the new receivers - blown routes and developing that important relationship with the QB. Go Royals!
  5. It's not my intent to change anyone's opinion about funding for their respective highschool. Frankly, school board members have nothing to do with the state school funding formula. That my friend, is the sole responsibility of the fine folks we elect to represent our interests in Frankfort. IMO, KERA and SEEK have outlived their intended purpose. I feel that the county schools have caught up and surpassed many of the school buildings in the afluent communities in Kentucky. It's just time to keep the taxes where they are generated and a chance for the less fortunate funded schools to be able to improve their infrastructure. I never said anything about returning funding, except the funny about sending me a check. JC is very fortunate to have the school board that is now in place. However, JC does not necessarily represent the entire state. I am confident that there is some abuse of the state funding monies to these schools that have made the necessary improvements to the infrastructure and now are looking for creative ways to keep the "jack" flowing in. With that said, Are You Ready for Some Football?
  6. Congrats to Cov Cath... I am sure this will pave the way for permanent lighting in Park Hills. I will have to admit... you can not beat the Saturday afternoon games in the Fall when the leaves are changing over at Nortre Dame. What a great highschool football settting...
  7. Agree : ------ Agree with you 100% 100% disagree:------ Not if KERA money from the state is being spent in a wreckless manner, ie. junior football fields.
  8. Wish we had a few local teams on ESPN. The talent in the Ohio River Valley is the best! The kids deserve national exposeure.
  9. The perception of many who travel around the state of Kentucky for business purposes or for the pleasure of watching highschool sports is that the county schools are nothing short of country clubs. The feeling by many is that the county schools have more $ than they know what to do with. And if they do not spend it, their funding from the state is slashed. I have'nt seen any pictures of Johnson Central - but I have a feeling that it is a brand new ultra modern state of the art facility. I will admit that I am clueless about the coal severance tax and its role towards school funding in the state school system. But some of the massive new schools that I see in my travels are not necessarily in the coal belt. The city schools in Northern Kentucky as well as in other parts of the state are in very poor shape. The state school system rates the structures on a scale of 1 - 5 with a 5 being recommended for demolishing. The hamlet where I reside has at least one 5 rated elementary school and another that is rated a 4. In addition to raising taxes for our city schools, we had a public fund raising event to be able to make repairs and updates to our highschool. If JC is not funded by KERA and KERA $$ is not being pumped into JC's sports complex, than I will eat crow. But my sources inform me that JC is moderately funded by the state educational funding formula. Please prove me wrong. By the way, if there is left over money, by all means send it to Northern Kenucky or you can write me a check...:thumb: We all are in this thing together... I am just screaming for an equitable funding system for all schools so that all students get an opportunity to attend state of the art schools and the opportunity to enjoy sports on playing fields like JC.
  10. That is exactly what I was thinking... Jr Football League wonder and you never see them continue to excel at the next level for one reason or another. We alll have seen this so many times in other youth sports as well. Hope this is not the case with this fella... great vision, quick feet and a fantastic O-line. Did not see him play any D. Hmmmm...
  11. My understandng is that Bell will never be able to get Field Turf installed due to being situated on a flood plain...
  12. Sounds like Newport Kentucky just a few years ago... a lot of nudity. Then some 500 or so came to town and cleaned up the city. Oh, there is still some nudity... they just have been cleaned-up!
  13. Do you play on Field Turf w/ new lighting systems and new stands? Synthetic soccer fields and basball diamonds?
  14. That is an excellent observation! :thumb: Please don't get me started on KERA and state school funding. If you want to get 'riled-up, take a look at Johnson Central's new sports complex on a related thread. Great for Johnson Central and the fine folks in Johnson County - but we are being harmed by the funding formula in N. Ky.
  15. I sincerely applaud the efforts of Johnson County, especially Johnson Central and Central Johnson Elementary, for all of their academic achievements. I, like many in Johnson County, am very fortunate to have such a fine school district in the town where I live. A strong school district mirrors the people that the live in the city, the administrators, teachers and most importantly the students. I believe if it were not for our academically strong school district - the quality of living in my little hamlet would deterioate to that of some lesser cities in the surrounding area. I am aware of your opinion that Johnson County deserves the state of the art sports complex due to the educational achievements of its student body and the hard work by the fine folk who reside in Johnson County. I just feel that KERA money, money that is coming from outside of Johnson County should not be used to build fields for junior league football, highschool football, soccer, baseball and track. Not to mention the building of stands around these fields. After the sports complex is complete and paid for, what is next on the checklist with KERA money? As you get the opportunity to travel to other schools, especially city school districts, take a look at the structure of the school buildings and grounds. The grade school and high school my sons and daughter attend are the same buildings that my wife and I attended and the same buildings that my parents attended. Unfortunately, the buildings look their age. Structures that are without air conditioning in the elementary schools and a high school that is just getting air conditioning installed this Summer. So, that's my issue. It's certainly nothing against my fellow Kentuckians in Johnson County. It's with the politicians in Frankfort. Good luck in football ! You had a great year to be proud of last year. I hope you continue your winning ways in the '07 campaign! :thumb:
  16. Don't think you will have to sell a single brat! My understanding is KERA is playing a major role in the funding of this sports complex. Maybe not entirely, but perhaps in the 75 - 80% range. Look- the field looks great. It's state of the art in my opinion. Our Kentucky neighbors deserve a quality sporting complex. However, and I realize I may be lighting the powder keg and that is not my intentions here, but I just do not think that building a college quality sports complex with KERA funding is what the politicians had in mind when KERA was formulated years ago. IMO, KERA was intended to bring up the quality of instructional education in Kentucky to the level of the more affluent communities. And by the way, I am all for that concept. I just have to question the funding of sports complexes for high school, middle school and now junior league football with tax money from other communities that are truely struggling to house students in decent school structures. Just one man's my opinion. Congrats to the kids and coaches of Johnson Central. A state of the art complex that will be enjoyed for many years to come...:thumb:
  17. Congratualtions to the 'Stangs and to the Newport Independent Schools for reaching a solution for and with BBs football team. I wish they could have worked something out in Ft T - but Newport is just great IMO. Down the line I envision BB getting thier own Stadium w/Field Turf and leasing their complex to Campbell County. Merely, a reflection of the direction the two school's athletic programs have demonstrated over the past decade... :thumb:
  18. The scrapbook will be a thing of the past... I agree with most of the posters, the POST had the best sports coverage in Northern Kentucky, newsprint and pictures! I hope the Enquirer will expand its Northern Kentucky staff.
  19. Another T.O. impact player on the squad this year? IMO - he will be the sleeper on the team...
  20. Dead period is used by many, especially seniors, to travel to different college camps and clinics. Many scholarships are borned by attendance to these camps. The underclassmen use other football camps to sharpen their skills for football. The other footballers use the dead period to travel and go on vacations with their parents. I would like to see the dead period acually lengthened.
  21. I am in favor of the bye week as well. Gives the players a week in the schedule to heal their wounds. Most schools use the bye week as a strength and conditioning week ~ which is an asset for the players deep into the season. Also, I use the bye week to travel to watch other teams in the state play. I like the idea of only the top two teams of each district going on into the playoffs. The first game is usually a blowout for all teams in the state. The starters are usually pulled by the end of the half, the attendance is embarassing and you risk injury to your players. Some of these first round games I have seen in the past - tend to get ugly due to the blowout factor. Seniors on the losing squad tend to take out their frustrations in this match-up. Semifinals at a neutral site sounds like a great idea. Although that would take revenues away from the schools from the sale of tickets, concessions and all the other fund raising schemes that you normally see at the games.
  22. Apparently you missed the point... Other schools, other athletic boosters just may like to know how JC assembled close to a million or so dollars to build a state of the art highschool sports complex. I am sure there are other kids across the state of Kentucky that can not wait to have a sports complex like that in their own back yard. It also matters to many where the money came from. Is it coming from public funds (KERA, city generated taxes, county tax, etc.) or from private supporters.
  23. I just read all the pleasant remarks regarding Coach Buchanan on BGP. Everyone seems to be right on the mark as to what I witnessed last evening. Saw Coach Buchanan in action last night at a 7 on 7 in N Ky. I remarked to my spousal unit as well as to my son that the head coach of Mason County had a lot of class. He was very congratulatory to the opposing team and he was full of encouragment to his squad throughout the 7 on 7. And yes, he has that southern Kentucky draw! Reminds me of a former coach that went on to finish his career in Harrison Co. many years ago. The Royals starting and 2nd string QB seemed to struggle last evening. I was very surprised as I have heard of great expectations of Cox. Cox has great size, good speed - but had trouble with the touch pass and the deep ball finding its target. Trouble one wouldn't expect without a pass rush, blitzing LBs and Safety. The defensive unit seemed to play much better. Cox seemed to be in great shape as he played the Safety spot throughout the eveing. The DBs played pretty well. Looks like Defense will the key this year for a sucessful campaign. I hope the Royals can turn things around this Summer. It will be fun to watch their progress when they start playing real ball! Good Luck to a well respected Coach and to his team!
  24. Field looks great! Nothing better than field turf... Not sure if you answered the question... How was the Field Turf funded? When we installed Field Turf about 5 years or so ago, all money came from outside the school system. We did not have enough $ left over to install hash marks, team mascot, etc. or lighting. Nice job!
