  1. Newport on the Levee is the place to be, especially if you have teenagers with you! Walk across the Ohio River via the Purple People Bridge and you will be darn near the best ribs in the area... Montgomery Inn. Then afterwards, come back across to the Kentucky side of the pond and enjoy yourselves at Jeff Ruby's Tropicana! ...or if you do not care to drop all that cash, just call lneck and Henry521. They are just loads of fun!
  2. What was Cory's final rushing yards for 2006? Boone's passing vs. running this year will impact Cory's total rushing yards for 2007. Looking for Cory to get some recognition in Kentucky this Fall for Mr Kentucky Football! Congrats on being selected to Kentucky's Tremendous 26...
  3. How is Bellvevue's little league football program? The last I heard it was really struggling. Do they play their games @ Gilligan? Turf might be best to support the play from little league, highschool practice and games...
  4. How about Paul Gray from Elizabethtown? Paul has had several coaching experiences in northern Kentucky - Lloyd and Bellevue and he just resigned after two years @ E-town. Paul is excellent at developing QB's and just might be a good fit @ Newport...
  5. With all the development in Bellevue and the tax base growing, I expect that we will see the plastic stuff in a few years. Heck, I expect another tiger stadium on the water front..
  6. Very unfortunate! I think John and his top-notch staff would have made continuous improvement at Newport. I would love to have seen Newport get deep into the playoffs this year. Good luck John! Best of luck to Newport in their efforts to find another fine role model for the athletes...
  7. If the KHSAA is consistent with their recent rulings in northern Kentucky, I really do not think that will fly. I believe there was a footballer who left Conner Highschool his junior rear to play at Holmes Highschool his senior year. I think he was moving to Covington to stay with his grandparents. The KHSAA did not allow the young man to play his senior year. If I am mistaken, please correct me..
  8. Don't know if this would work for highschool, but a college game I attended last year - bagpipers led the team from the locker room to the playing field. The players, all 80+, walked in pairs for about a 1/4 mile to the field. Very somber and impressive... The cool part, you could hear the team marching from the time they left the locker room.
  9. Mahan will certainly be an interesting case study. It will be interesting to see where, why and how he starts the 2007 season. Or, if he plays! I really do not think getting kicked off of the team versus parents relocating or an athlete changing schools for playing time will make any difference to the KHSAA. My guess, he is finished as a highschool footballer...
  10. For the record, Ivy League schools do not offer athletic scholarships. They function just like a DIII. We have received letters and some calls from the Ivy League schools. Unfortunately,we are caught in the middle. Not eligilbe for financial aid and not willing to take out a $50K per year student loan.
  11. My son is off to a Summer camp in North Carolina. $10 /hour and he can work additional hours in the office and make some additional dough... He loves kids so I look at this as a win - win. For the kids and junior!
  12. Dang! Looks like lneck lost some weight. Looking good studly! I think he resembles Sponge Bob... No pants!
  13. I agree. I much rather hear about the highschool yacht team in Silver Grove or something about the past legends of Bishop Brossart's football teams. Heck, a feature layout of Leatherneck in a speedo would be more appealing than all that Highlands stuff...
  14. I remember my parents dropping me off at my grandparents on Saturday evenings. (Dropping is the key word. I don't remember the car stopping.) I loved the TV dinners in the tin-foiled trays - however I had to watch Lawrence Welk and listen to that Ah one and Ah two... The best part was Albers had these horse racing cards you would get at the grocery store during the week. One of Lawrence Welk's commercial would feature a race from River Downs. If the horse on your card matched the winner on the commercial - you would win something of value. It was really fun to watch. I think. Come to think of it... I never won!
  15. Some really great posts! It's still warm up hear on the second floor of our dwelling this eveing. I am thinking of closing the windows. Perhaps I can get the upstairs to about 85 degrees. Then the fun starts... listening to the kids whine for the ac to be turned on. Not going to happen tonight! No ac in the good ole days. Windows open in the evenings. Holes in the screens that be just big enough to let in all of the mosquitos in the neighborhood... Ouch!
  16. Went to Camden Yards Monday and watch the birds play the Indidans. The Orioles have the same problems as the Reds. NO bullpen...
