  1. Word on the street is DaMarcus Smith is on staff. We’d have to do a deep dive through the archives, but DaMarcus was “hired” by Brandon Bender in 2021 to lead the Evangel program that eventually disbanded two weeks before the season was scheduled to kick off. Will be interesting to see what happens with Eminence and how they compete with Sayre.
  2. Agreed! Both are great players and have very bright futures. Eric stepped up big time when he was asked to play DT. Excited to see him at LB this year!
  3. From what I’ve heard, all is going well for the Bearcats this summer. They’ll be down numbers wise after losing 19 seniors, but return State Championship MVP Deion Davidson. Be on the lookout for rising freshman Braylon Batts-Hobbs. Received offers from Louisville and Akron earlier this summer. Deion received an offer from Miami (OH). Nobody does a better job than Coach Jones, in my honest opinion. The adversity the staff and kids had to overcome the week of the state championship last year can be written in a novel one day.
  4. I would be shocked if the kid from Hazard isn’t QB1.
  5. I expect them to be back to where they're defeating Trinity regularly once this monster senior class graduates from Trinity.
  6. It'll take time for Landis. Those expecting a miraculous turnaround in year 1 are going to have to be patient. I expect them to start rolling in year 3.
  7. KHSAA sent an email yesterday stating that board drills with OL/DL are now banned. Seems odd when it's a productive and safe drill.
  8. KCD wasn't able to have a typical spring practice due to many athletes in spring sports. So they had four days where they practiced.
  9. This could happen and be successful. The state won't consider it for financial reasons. A lawyer should have Tackett provide a open records request asking how much time was allocated to the entire multiplier discussion. It's just like they'll never class basketball because Tackett and his entire staff get to stay at the Hyatt for two weeks between the boys and girls state tournaments.
  10. Another blunder not having a tournament format here. It was much better when Collins and venues around Shelby County hosted.
  11. Revisiting this: are they doing a tournament bracket on Sunday?
  12. Games have been announced. Looks like they're not doing a tournament format again, which is a BIG mistake IMO.
  13. Just like we're seeing with the University of Kentucky, change is needed in the KHSAA. Time to revamp the entire office.
  14. What a time to be alive. Rash will have a heck of an opportunity to bring home another this fall.
  15. This is not surprising after they refused to give Noel Rash a pay raise after three consecutive state championships. Will be interesting to see how things unfold in Ft. Mitchell this fall.........
  16. Eastern KY Football was down in 2012 as a whole. The top three teams that season were in the west with Mayfield, Beechwood, and KCD. The state championship score reflects that.
  17. Good ole Donny Wayne.
  18. For example, KCD dressed 21 kids in 2018 and was down to 16 players against powerhouse Beechwood in the 2nd round. KCD almost had to forfeit that matchup due to safety. That scenario could very well happen to KCD or Bethlehem. KCD had the rare circumstance of having over 45 kids on the roster the past 4 years due to a senior class that consisted of 19 football players (17 who had been there since elementary and middle school). They'll be lucky to sniff 35 the next 2-4 years.
  19. 1000%. The Board's explanation is "let's try this and get it 100% right for 2029." No reason to punish schools like Bethlehem or KCD where numbers fluctuate depending on Soccer numbers. This doesn't happen at schools like Raceland, Pikeville, or Campbellsville where football is the outlier.
  20. Yeast destroyed that program. Kids were either transferring out or quitting football all together. I hope Mercer can rebound and get back to their winning ways.
  21. Perfect. Do you know sites by chance?
  22. Does anyone know if the event will be the 19th-21st in the Lexington/Georgetown/Versailles area like last summer?
  23. There's literally 4 schools it affecting. KCD, Bethlehem, Cal, and Cov Cath. This hurts Bethlehem worse.
  24. The true loser is KCD. Gets punished for winning a state championship.
  25. This should be a fun topic when the athletic directors meet next week at the state conference.
