The Bearcats were hit very hard by graduation. Both offensive and defensive production from its state title team took a massive hit. The loss of 20 Seniors from last years squad will be a huge up hill battle.

The Bearcats will bring back MVP Deion Davidson though. The backup fullback Nic Doster returns as well. They have Sophomore to be DJ Lawless back too to help with this rebuilding (or reload) season. They return 3 staters on the offensive side of the ball, and 3 on the defensive side. Tripp Swisher will headline the Kentucky Country Day defense from his Safety position who was 4th in tackles from last season.  The Kentucky Country Day Bearcats return just over 1,028 total yards of offense from last season. The defense returns 2 of its top 7 leaders in tackles from last season and a secondary that had 5 interceptions from last season.

The Potential Schedule if Same from 2025

Aug 28 vs. WEB DuBois
Sep 4 at Spencer County
Sep 11 vs. DeSales
Sep 18 vs. Hopkins County Central

Any word on how spring practice has been?

Bump.

KCD wasn't able to have a typical spring practice due to many athletes in spring sports. So they had four days where they practiced.

Any word from the Defending Class 1A Champions from last season?

From what I’ve heard, all is going well for the Bearcats this summer. They’ll be down numbers wise after losing 19 seniors, but return State Championship MVP Deion Davidson. Be on the lookout for rising freshman Braylon Batts-Hobbs. Received offers from Louisville and Akron earlier this summer. Deion received an offer from Miami (OH). Nobody does a better job than Coach Jones, in my honest opinion. The adversity the staff and kids had to overcome the week of the state championship last year can be written in a novel one day.

Two more young players I expect to have big years for KCD are SO WR DJ Lawless & SO LB Eric Forney.  Both are solid football players.  I believe DJ led them in receiving last year and Eric had over 10 tackles in the state championship game last year.

Agreed! Both are great players and have very bright futures. Eric stepped up big time when he was asked to play DT. Excited to see him at LB this year!

What happened that week? Not trying to be nosy, just genuinely curious.

Who is KCD scrimmaging this week?
