Arnett has enjoyed enough of that Tville BBQ and figured to be better off. I’m sure majority of alumni on both sides will miss that game and rightfully so, may not be too competitive but nothing like beating up on your third cousin or your step brother in between the lines. I remember when WC and BG finally decided to part ways, even though it felt criminal everyone around the area knew it had to stop. Jokes aside, Glasgow being an independent school you still have to play the teams around your area. Allen, FS, Barren are three I believe they should play yearly, maybe try to add WE/WC next cycle? Then possibly adding one decent travel game with a top 2A,3A or middle of the road 4A,5A school. Good luck this season Scotties!

Maybe, I haven’t looked to see how the Sweet 16 bracket is shaped up. There is some good ball teams across the State this year and the Dragons are one of them indeed.

Don’t see this trend breaking this Spring either. Dragons by a lot, their defense is stifling and in Diddle I haven’t seen a team really get the ball in the hoop consistently.

Congratulations to Coach Davidson. Had every reason not to come back and still chose to put those kids and that community first. Regardless of what happens on the field, that’s a very high character move and I have to give a tip of the hat to Coach.

Told a few pals of mine that South was going to the Championship and they looked at me like I was a wild man. 3 “upsets” in the opening round of the wacky 4th region this year, have to love some March madness. Didn’t realize the Perkins kid is only a SO, high motor, a very quick guard.

Cougars win 85-67, back to back district champions. Grayson County jumped on Trinity early, their lead got down to 10 in the 3Q but there was never a doubt here. Will need to play better defense in the Sportscenter next week if they want to go to Rupp.

I agree that he may not be better than Crowe but we’ll find out soon enough. I see the vision, his skill set as a QB sets up very well for Tilghman. Can really sling the ball all over the field and is capable in the pocket with his size. Isable was far from the reason why Warren East didn’t make the playoffs. Came into an awful situation, lost their HC before the opener. They had the district athletic director coaching by the end of the year; mind you there are THREE other high schools in the area that are supposed to be looked over. Three different people leading a program in a 10 week season it was complete chaos on Louisville road.

Free basketball in Glasgow. Took 2 OT’s for this one to end. Scottie’s SR Jerrick Martin fouled out before regulation ended. Glasgow had a hot start in the 2OT and the Trojans weren’t able to get back into it. Some clutch FT’s from Glasgow to ice it out. Great game in the 4th region.

Dragons win 70-46

Was a one horse race the entire season in the 12th district, the Cougars have a very good team and well the other three teams just weren’t too competitive. The game is in Morgantown tonight. Speaking of Butler County, yes the same Bears who just sent a couple of players to D1 schools finished 1-26, not a good start to the Dustin Barnett era. Whitesville lost both matchups to Grayson County this season, the first by 48 points at home and then went on the road and lost by 26. Maybe they can bring it to within 20 but I see no scenario where they find a win tonight. Very exciting matchup for HS basketball in our state is coming together again. Know Daviess County will be looking forward to the rematch with the Cougars, should be another great game and this time it’ll be in the 3rd Region tournament. Closing in on about 6 hours until tip off at Warren Central tonight. South Warren beating their rival and punching their first ever Region tournament appearance had to of felt good for Coach Quarles and company. This was the most competitive I’ve seen the district since 2013, just goes to show the dominance of BG/WC over the last decade and some change. The Spartans dropped both of their matchups to WC this year; first one wasn’t a bad showing but the matchup earlier this month in this gym they play in tonight they got crushed. I expect Warren Central to take care of business again. They’re still one of the top teams in the State and have a nice collection of players who can contribute. In saying that I’ll add that South Warren has a good chance of playing on the 2nd day of the tournament and depending on how the bracket draws out they could find themself in the Championship game. I’ll bite, however in my area of Kentucky I can honestly say I don’t see anyone on the hot seat. In Warren County alone, 3 new coaches, last year’s COTY in KY, and then a multiple time State Champion in Coach Spader. If I wanted to critique or create noise on this thread I’d say another season similar for the Purples could cause some friction. Win two back to back, go 6-7 and all of a sudden you’re getting questioned on your ability to lead young men, it wasn’t too loud this year though. An understanding of the situation was enough to keep it mellow. Would like to add that I don’t believe they’d ever fire Coach, but a similar sort of year this Fall somebody may mosey to the door and crack it open for him to leave. Surrounding counties, I’ve only got a couple that come to mind. Coach Chaney with Franklin Simpson, he’ll be entering his 7th season this Fall and the Wildcats haven’t been to the 3rd round once. Coach Hood from Allen County, worst season of his coaching career this past year. A lot of external factors played into that but it’s hard to just turn your shoulder to an 0-10 season. Do I believe either two of them should be fired? No, but I do know they are both competitors and expected to win football games at their respective schools. Barren County job is one that could open soon too, not sure how much longer Coach Myers plans on continuing his career. You could really add Spader into this as well, retired now, been to the top many times so how much more does he have in the tank too. Not really a hot seat sort of comment but when is Coach Brandon Smith going to be cherry picked from a bigger HS program across the Southeast? Know he has a nice setup at South but I’m sure he’s got phone calls of opportunities that can top whatever is being presented to him today. Possibly the task of trying to slay Goliath is the new goal or will Goliath be the reason he does decide to leave after what could be many failed attempts?

I have to agree with this as well. When you crunch the numbers it’s hard to believe the Raiders could’ve got anyone that would’ve been more qualified than Coach Foley. I’ll note that when I was crunching said numbers I couldn’t help to wonder if he’ll bring the same sort of run heavy offense with him. Raiders have lacked size in the trenches for nearly two decades, had a few special units sprinkled in up front but consistently just lacking the physical capabilities. On the other hand this may be the first time we’ve seen a snap from under center in nearly a decade so that’ll be nice. Never an issue finding a few cats that can run the football out Louisville rd, it should be interesting.

They must believe they are New York Jets or something. Just let the good people know.

Add Franklin Simpson in there too, and you can’t leave out ACS who has split the last decade with the Raiders in their H2H matchups. Tough to get a home playoff game let alone make the playoffs, which this year was the first one the Raiders have missed since 2015. We’ll see what happens, this week off from school should’ve gave them plenty of opportunity to anchor down their decision and hopefully break the news to the public this coming week.

Anything after Christmas is late, job has to be posted for 30 days before a hire as is, so that’s February 23rd. Then you have spring practice starting a few weeks later.

With a little later resignation than you’d hope for, I believe they’ll keep it in the house and go with Jason Jaggers or Tony Adams. You could add Justin Chaffin in with those names too.

Heard plenty of rumblings about this back in the Fall, with his youngest son graduating in the Spring it makes sense. Curious if he’s done with the coaching or if we’ll see him sporting different colors here in the next few months.

Dragons were down 10 midway through the 3Q but ended up gaining the leads back. Kaleb Prince fouled out with 3 or so minutes in the 4Q and their slim lead went with it. Rough outing from him on the evening though, only nine points. Great game by the Purples. High energy from the players on the court as well as the bench, they wanted this one very bad and really needed it in terms of the district standings and avoiding a matchup with this Dragons team in the opening round.
