It was a long time to wait for their first region tournament berth - and South Warren isn't ready to go anywhere.  Logan County got an early lead, but South Warren reeled off a 17-0 run during the second quarter, and never trailed again.  South will await the winner of Glasgow and Monroe County, and there is a very, very real chance the Spartans could advance to the region final.

Told a few pals of mine that South was going to the Championship and they looked at me like I was a wild man. 3 “upsets” in the opening round of the wacky 4th region this year, have to love some March madness. Didn’t realize the Perkins kid is only a SO, high motor, a  very quick guard.

Is this an upset? I'm always of the belief that the winner and runner-up in District 14 are the favorite and second favorite in the 4th Region tournament.

South is a bit of an exception to that (potentially), since no one knew what to expect from them.  It is their first trip to region ever, so it's a bit more of a stretch than usual to put them advancing.  I had them going to the semis, but the team I thought they'd face is out.  I could easily see them in the final now.  

14 of the past 19 4th Region finals have been between two 14th District teams.
