At some point maybe they’ll hire a local that understands the community and the expectations and things will run like it should.

Everyone should appreciate the time and effort of 859sports. I think if you talked to them, they don’t pretend they’re perfect. But they do a great job and provide a much needed service. There was a big void in coverage for a long time.

Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
Listerman had a transcendent player named Vinson save his job. He was terrible and had a sub .500 record prior. We’ll see how he does going forward. He’s not going anywhere anytime soon. But, the basketball team still makes a lot of head scratching decisions most nights. Coach Flynn probably still would’ve won state with Vinson and that team.

Covington Catholic at Simon Kenton Predictions/Updates
Simon Kenton was terrible up until the 2000’s. Then the teams didn’t play. It should come as no surprise. Simon Kenton couldn’t beat anyone before Marksberry was coach.

If true and the backup QB wasn’t injured and just didn’t want to play jv against the rival, he must not want to be the QB next year. He’s not going to get the reps to be prepared to be the starting QB next year based on varsity snaps this year. He might want to find a new position. Can he play corner?

It was a no brainer. He needed to go years sooner.

Was it a positive move for Covcath? Hard to dispute given their success after taking away that whistle. I’d say it was the right move.

Seriously doubt the AD would be given the power to make any head football coaching hire. If he made that hire on his own, there would likely be a job opening for principal and AD.

First I’d heard it. But apparently it’s widely talked about. I don’t personally know the coach or his son. They could be the nicest guys around. My thoughts and opinions are strictly based on what I’m seeing happen on the field. As a long time supporter, there are some things I like. The renewed commitment to the off season, player enthusiasm, and a willingness to commit to football. But there’s a few things standing out that need to change quickly. They are easily correctable. Imo the talent level of the players aren’t what cost Highlands that game. Unfortunately there’s no rematch, but if there was, I’d pick Highlands. They were the more talented roster and physically superior team on both sides of the ball.

Heard last night at the game from a parent with a son on the team, that the offensive coordinator for Highlands (the head coaches son), thinks he’s in line to be the head coach when his father retires. I found that laughable after watching him coach the offense. Zero chance that happens.

Big turn around from last week for NCC.

Highlands is getting what the administration has tolerated. The taunting and stupid penalties tonight are unacceptable. A perfect example of what’s resulted in 6 or 7 years of substandard football. The principal should tell the coach to clean it up or he won’t be there next year and we’ll find somebody who will. As a player, if you can’t control your emotions, there’s a seat on the sideline or up in the stands. A little discipline could go a long way to improving this team. The more poised team won this game whether they arguably should have or not.

The understatement of the year. You forgot poorly coached. Selfish football team.

Schools requiring adult guardians to escort students/children to games.
Are the kids really doing anything that bad? They’re definitely not always dialed in watching the game, but I’ve seen very little to get worked up about. If someone gets out of hand, the administrators or cops can handle it. The high schools need kids at the games. It’s a short sighted rule for non football schools.

Covington Catholic at Highlands Predictions/Updates
It seems like every year people think it’s going to sell out. I’ve never ever seen anyone turned away at a Highlands game. Did Highlands vs Cincy X or Elder ever sell out? Not that I’m aware. There’s plenty of room to stand.

I was talking about since then. Was hoping he was doing better today.

Any updates on the player who was hurt? Hopefully he’s ok.

Covington Catholic 37 Ryle 22
Ryle has some potential. But they go no better than 5-5 in the regular season.

For Highlands, Like the 34pts. Still think the play calling is a head scratcher at times. Execute all extra pts. The defense has to get a lot better. There may need to be some personnel changes.

They’ll beat Scott and Boone if that’s noise. They’re not beating Cooper or Highlands.

No they won’t.

Walton Verona at Bishop Brossart Predictions/Updates
Watched NCC tonight. Numbers looked decent from what I could tell but not sure of the breakdown per class. Is Brossart getting some of the kids now that maybe would’ve went to NCC 5-8 years ago? No idea which school is winning the battle for the kids on the fence that are between both schools. but watching tonight’s game made me wonder. NCC had a good number of kids from out towards Alexandria for years and years. Is that still true?
