Scott County was supposed to be one of the teams all year. Now I have my doubts. SC appears to be solid, but who is their best win? Woodford? They’ve only beaten two teams that made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs at any level and it’s Madison Southern and Madison Central… (that’s not great) I think Cooper is solid, but I think they are mucked into an NKY echo chamber that’s giving people a lot of false hope. Having said that, I think that both teams will move the ball at will. So I’ll go with the team that can control the ball more: Scott County. p.s. look for Scott to take at least one or two kickoffs back. p.s.s. the assertion that Scott doesn’t have the athletes that Cooper has proves you haven’t watched Scott County.

This one will be ugly, but worth paying attention to for some fans. Future Kentucky OL, Hayes Johnson, will probably battle both of Corbin's Smith twins in some one on ones.

While most readers seem to leave this game off their radar, the winner still will go to a region championship. Both of these teams look to take their programs to the next level. I’ve heard the “they watered the field last night so we couldn’t beat them with speed” excuse around a dozen times. It always seems to come after a pretty heavy rain…

I agree with a lot of this, however… I don’t necessarily think home field advantage is predicated on travel time and fan attendance. In my opinion, away games are hard because of the shift in routine. different field, different locker room (if there even is one), different press box setup, etc. At home, there’s a sense of comfort. For example, there is never any anxiety about replacement equipment, training room facilities, etc. You know what you have and what you don’t. On the road, comes a plethora of stuff to worry about from the bus ride to getting taped to warmups. In my opinion, I think it is always easier to play at the venue where you spend 95% of your time as a team.

Ninth time in 5 seasons (since coach Foley arrived). It was poor math on my part. Dropped the ball there. Sentiment still remains though, they play each other a lot.

Since Coach Jason Foley arrived at Southwestern, he boasts a 7-1 record against the cross-town rival, with the lone loss being at home in the 2020 regular season. On its face, the Maroons' season has been lackluster as they hold a 4-7 record. However, when looking deeper, it is clear that the Maroons have had an above average strength of schedule and seem to be peaking at the right time. Previous Meeting Just three weeks ago, these two teams played in a slugfest that resulted in a 12-point victory for Southwestern. The game was close the entirety of the way, with the Warriors only pulling ahead by two touchdowns in the final two minutes. It was clear from that meeting that these two teams know each other inside and out— so another tight game is expected. What to Watch For As was the case in the last meeting, Southwestern will likely be starting a backup quarterback in Owen Campbell. In four games as a starter, he is 36/50 with 595 yards, 8 TDs and 1 pick. It is safe to say that the backup has been more than good enough to win games, if not make Southwestern's office more powerful. On the other side, Pulaski will be starting Zak Anderson at quarterback who has been very good all season. In 11 games, he's thrown for over 2,000 yards with 22 TDs and 9 picks. In the last meeting, Anderson has 157 yards on 11/17 throwing with 1 TD and 1 pick. Can SW stifle the PC attack again, or will the air attack of the Maroons' be formidable as we have seen in previous days? Who Wins? Can Southwestern exert the same dominance they have of late; or can Pulaski County prove the mantra, "its hard to beat a good team twice"?

On one hand, I absolutely agree with this. But there’s a little piece of my brain that thinks that the Jags possess the ability to play well enough defensively to make some weird stuff happen. I also have no doubt, should we see this matchup, that NL will be snapping the ball with 1 second left on the play clock every play. They will try to make it a slow, sloppy, boring, slugfest.

Dixie is a solid team, but don’t let last week fool you. I know Woodford was ranked all year but every decent team the Jackets played beat them by two-or-more scores. Great teams rarely get thirty pieced 3 times in a season.

Initially this screamed “trap game” for Bullitt East. However, now that a considerable amount of prognosticators are picking the Camels, it has untrapped the trap game. We are back to a regular game imo.

Sideline to helmet communication is not coming within the next decade. The KHSAA just figured out play clocks like 5 years ago. Hudl Sideline is also less than a grand; which in my opinion is surprisingly doable for a lot of programs. However, I know many programs that don’t like sideline replays. Many kids play both ways for smaller schools, so yanking a kid off the field to show where he missed something 10 plays previously isn’t always the most beneficial thing in the world. I personally know of two programs that had Hudl Sideline in one season, then removed it the next because they thought it was a distraction and they did not like all the cumbersome aspects of it.

The West Jessamine Colts host the Pulaski County Maroons in the first round of the playoffs. Although Pulaski is 3-7, their schedule has been very, very difficult. West Jess boasts a 6-4 record that led them to a number two seed. Worth mentioning that this game has been moved to Thursday. I feel like that is very bizarre considering that both teams probably see this game as a close one, and would like as much time as possible to prepare.
