I stopped watching this game with about 3:00ish minutes left in the second quarter, I figured it would be a tight game. Turned it back on an hour later and it was a stomping.

5A Southwestern (1-3) at 5A North Laurel (2-2) Stream: NFHS Network Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports Tale of the Tape: The Warriors travel to the Jungle in a 5A District 8 matchup! The Jags have had a peculiar set of results this season including a solid win over Bell County, only a two-point win over Whitley County, and blowout losses to Franklin County and Johnson Central. Southwestern, on the other hand, struggled mightily in their first three games, but they turned things around last weekend with a win over Mercer County. North Laurel has lost their last four games against the Warriors, and they seem poised to end that streak. This looks to be a very close game on paper—likely with massive home-playoff implications. Who wins and why?

5A Southwestern (0-3) vs. 3A #6 Mercer County (2-2) Stream: Close your eyes and listen to the radio like your grandpa did. If you try hard enough it's like a stream. Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports The Warriors seemed to figure it out a bit last week... after they spotted Belfry 19 points in the first few minutes of the ballgame. Southwestern is reeling and there is no question about it—they need a win. However, Mercer County will have something to say about that. The Titans, by all accounts, have looked solid this season, but it is difficult to tell. Mercer has dominating victories over Shelby County* and Danville**, who are not great (to put it mildly) and have lost to Bullitt East and Simon Kenton (two teams who have a much wider talent pool.) Have the prognosticators of BGP punted on the SW season yet? Or can they win your love back like my Junior Prom date? I hope so... Is Mercer a dark horse to make it to Kroger? Is Mercer a (stay with me here) dark-horse to make it to Kroger if the RPI draw is good and the ball bounces their way and they stay healthy and they get the playoff weather they need? I think maybe... Who wins? Why? How? How many? *Whoof. **Double whoof.

3A #4 Belfry (1-2) at 5A Southwestern (0-2) Stream: Lake Cumberland Sports Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports Must win? Both teams come into this game looking for a pickmeup after two straight losses. While the Pirates are likely looking at another district title, the Warriors are winless and staring down a schedule that is relentless. Both teams need this game to get some momentum rolling. Is it too early to call this game a must-win? Who prevails? Last season, Southwestern won this game by 7 at Belfry. Can they do the same here? It seems that prognosticators still like the Pirates in 3A, is the jury still out on the Warriors or have most fans already checked out?

Here’s my angry thoughts. Whoever made the decision to start Wilson Berry shouldn’t make it off the property. Kentucky has better punters on staff. Further, there are over a dozen seniors in this state who can boot a ball better. 30 yard punts with the wind on your back are insanely bad. Brock is not good. Like not good at all. Never has been. Got away with a bunch of throws in Week 1 that were very poor. Caught up to him now. Wimsatt—from what I have heard—would’ve been the guy 100% if he got to campus earlier. Defense is great, just put in horrendous positions by the offense and special teams. I would come unglued if I was on the defensive staff. Bush Hamdan, who has been a coach SINCE 2009–has NEVER COACHED AT A SCHOOL FOR OVER THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS. There is a reason for that. It does not take a PHD to surmise that her probably won’t last to a third year. I have a hunch his performance will get him canned within the next two seasons. But, the writing has been on the wall from the jump.
