5A Playoffs Second Round Round: North Laurel (5-6) at Southwestern (6-5) Stream: N/A Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports Tale of the Tape: Last Meeting- Southwestern 23 North Laurel 14 Overall this season was bipolar for North Laurel. Opening night saw them beat a solid Bell County club, but in week 9 they dropped an ugly one to Taylor County. However, none of that matters now. The Jags come into this one after a first round upset on the road against district champion Montgomery County. Over the past few weeks North has been relying more and more on their ground game—however, they only rushed for 81 yards on 30 carries against SW in their first matchup, so they will likely have to put the ball in the air a bit more this week. Southwestern seems to have finally found their footing after scoring more points than they had all season last week against East Jessamine, securing a first half running clock in the process. They will look to keep the ball rolling this week, as they attempt to make their 9th straight region championship game. Can the Jags secure the upset? Or has Southwestern 'figured it out'? *Interesting note: If Southwestern and Cooper win, the Warriors first three games in the playoffs will be against "Jaguars."

Really depends on what your definition of “a run” is. If making a region championship constitutes “a run”, I would say they have a good shot.

5A Playoffs First Round: East Jessamine (4-6) at Southwestern (5-5) Stream: N/A Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports (likely) Tale of the Tape: It is finally playoff time. Thank goodness. Southwestern comes into this game at .500 after a pretty rough schedule. East Jessamine comes into this game after having their 5th straight losing season. However, the Jags can put that behind them with an upset at Southwestern this Friday. The Warriors seem poised for victory and a 2nd round birth, but I do not think you can count out EJ. Southwestern has seemingly been incapable of blowing any team out this season: (1-8) Harlan County had a second half lead against the Warriors and (1-9) Henry Clay was within 2 scores of the Warriors in the third quarter. While East Jessamine has had their struggles, I highly doubt this game will get too ugly... What say you, prognosticators?
