  1. Franklin drives and stalls out in the redzone lines up for a FG FC calls a timeout Come back in spread bad snap arm punt pick 6 14-0 SW 9:03 in 2nd
  2. Franklin County goes 3 and out SW scores in 3 plays 7-0 9:42 left
  3. 1-4 may legitimately be within 7 points of each other.
  4. I have watched both of these teams play this season and man do they have a lot of similarities. Starting with history, both teams are coming off of respective region titles. Next, SW runs the ball 75% of the time whilst Franklin County runs the ball a comparable 69%. Furthermore, Southwestern has scored 34.6 PPG compared to the Flyers 34.0 PPG. By the eye test, these teams are strikingly similar in size, strength, and speed. While it may come by different means, both teams are going to try to do the same thing; out-physical the competitor. The vibe (if you will) of both squads is indistinguishable. The difference, in my opinion, lies in the defense. Franklin County's defense has been very, very good all season, while the Warriors D took a few weeks to get settled. I'm not sure who wins this game, but it should catapult the victor into the remainder of district play and into the playoffs. This is a huge RPI game for both teams and I cannot wait for Friday night.
  5. This game will indeed be streamed on Lakecumberlandsports.com and Lake Cumberland Sports on Facebook.
  6. You took care of the four names I would think of. But, as far as exceeding expectations, I would go with these two: Caverna (First District win since 2015*) Rockcastle County (6-1 with a win over Bell County) *I think
  7. North Laurel has not beaten Pulaski County since 2009. This season, the Jaguars are bigger, stronger, and more experienced than the Maroons. Along with that, the North Laurel defense has looked excellent all year. However, they haven’t faced an offense quite like Pulaski thus far. The issue in this game lies in whether or not the NL can score. Their offense has been lackluster all season and they will need to have a big week to end the streak of 11-straight losses to PC. I’ll take the Jags in a close one—but I wouldn’t be surprised by a result in the other direction.
  8. SW up two scores in the first. They are throwing it around a bit.
  9. Hometown Live Radio (Facebook) has streamed Danville home games in the past, so that would be a good place to look for a stream.
  10. As many have mentioned before, offenses are evolving to more complex, veritable schemes. Along with that, there is a large diversity of offenses in the state now regardless of what region/district you are in. Even as recently as a decade ago, there were entire regions that ran plays exclusively out of the wishbone/flexbone (triple option, etc.). Now, you would be hard pressed to find a district where offenses are consolidated. For example, Week 1 your team may primarily play the spread, Week 2 the wishbone, Week 3 the flexbone, Week 4 the pistol with an H back, etc. It's difficult to adjust to the variety with only four days of practice; especially in schools with lower numbers where many guys play both ways. In my opinion, that is the biggest contributor to higher scores.
  11. 5A Harlan County (0-5) at 5A #8 Southwestern (3-2) Radio: Lake Cumberland Sports 5A District 8 is in action for the second week in a row on Friday. This will be the first meeting between these two teams since 2018. Everything on paper points to Southwestern rolling. Does anyone expect anything different?
  12. At the start of the season I would’ve said Woodford by a lot; but today I’m not sure. Coach Sams deserves a lot of credit. This is a job many people didn’t want to take because of the district.
  13. NL’s defense is very good—it was just hung out to dry often tonight. Southwestern is finding their footing.
  14. Both teams with an ugly half. Multiple fumbles, multiple arm punts, turnovers on downs, penalties, etc. The NL defense is real.
  15. Bizarre week in Rocketville, I’m afraid. A confrontation between the Shelby County staff/players and North Oldham staff/players was posted to Twitter this week. I’m unsure if that will have any implication for tonight.
  16. I’m inclined to agree with you that Southwestern wins. However, North Laurel has kept it within a score against teams of comparable skill and talent. I think if Southwestern manages to clock the Jaguars tonight, it is clear that the Warriors are a heck-of-a lot better than they were in Week 1.
  17. That would be a fun prospect considering that it would be a sellout in a bowl stadium. However, Racing Louisville is in the middle of their season in September so I doubt they would want anything extra on that playing surface. Heck, they care about that grass so much they illuminate about a mile of I64 when they put those infrared lights on it at night—that can't be cheap.
