I think right now the hope at Central Hardin is that they get more than 1 application from a custodial staff member for their head coaching opening. Whoever mentioned a red flag on this job after how things went down with Stockdale's firing hit the nail on the head. No one is applying and the AD has heard crickets when he's reached out for qualified applicants.

Just looked at the list of assistant coaches on Arbiter. Last year Stockdale had an assistant coach named Jack Rachau and there was a senior RB/DB with the same last name. He had an assistant coach named Nathan Jackson and there was a senior WR with the same last name. And then he had an assistant coach named Stephen Hart and there was a junior LB with the same last name.

I definitely agree that we need to reserve judgment here, which is why I said "seems pretty damning if it's all accurate" when I posted. I'll be following along with this one though for sure. I tend to agree with TP94 about this more than likely ending up in a settlement and not going to trial, though.

Some of the info in that article seems pretty damning if it's all accurate. The position coach denying to give the player water even as teammates were expressing concerns about the player's condition prior to his loss of consciousness. The coach upping his verbal harassment even after the player was too dizzy to run in a straight line, and the insults included assertions about how the player was an embarrassment to his family's name at Trinity. Allegations that Trinity's training staff never attempted any "aggressive cooling," despite the KHSAA policy and state law requiring them to do so. Coach Cobb admitting after the fact that he's been telling the position coach for seven years that he needs to back down his insulting verbal attacks on players. The position coach being suspended for three games but still being allowed in the press box by Trinity for all of those games. This definitely has the potential to get ugly.

Not intending in any way to pour salt on any open wounds for our friends in Belfry. This was just the topic of a pretty lively text string I had with a few coaching friends of mine last night and I thought I'd ask the question here. The unfortunate truth is that like it or not Belfry does have to figure out where to turn sooner rather than later in order to continue Coach Haywood's legacy with the Pirates. Is there anyone on the Belfry coaching staff who'd be the heir apparent in the wake of losing Coach Haywood? Would anyone from Belfry's current coaching staff even want to be "the guy who follows up THE guy?" Does the timing of Coach's unexpected passing allow Belfry to conduct a national search? Does Belfry's Appalachian setting present any difficulties to finding interested head coach candidates on a national level?

I've gotta think there were a ton of Clemson paws. I don't know how many helmets I've seen with only player numbers, but there are plenty out there with player numbers on one side and logos on the opposite side. What were your final stats for all of those?

Not a whole lot of truly original logos and helmet designs in this bunch. CWB I'm counting 18 helmets here and the only original logos and designs I'm seeing are Atherton (maybe), Belfry, Berea (which is still really close to Tampa Bay Bucs), and Bethlehem. Most are pretty direct lifts off of someone else, eg - Adair, Allen Co, Apollo, Ashland, Ballard, Bardstown, Beechwood, Bellevue. It wouldn't seem that this is making the biggest of waves at X. I texted 2 current teachers I know from X and neither of them knew this was even going on. One said, "I did hear the AD stepped down. Mid-year, that's not too common. So this would explain that."

Corey Bosemer is a social media muckraker trying to pose as a news outlet. I've always been tickled by the fact that his social media handle "Football of Kentucky DBA" is an English language syntax hack-job for the abbreviated legalese term "Doing Business As." Way back when Corey started his social media news-outlet venture, he had intended to change his personal Twitter account handle to "Corey Bosemer, DBA Football of Kentucky" but he couldn't manage to figure that out correctly and he ended up with his current blunder of a name. Did anyone ever watch the Kroll Show on Comedy Central? I swear...the guy is a real-life version of Bobble Bottleservice, a.k.a. Bobby Bottleservice. He looks, speaks, and sounds like him.

Calico Jack made the point that coaches with state championships on their resume seldom leave for other jobs. I don't think it's tough to make a case that Senior has a good shot at making a real run at the 5A title in the next couple of years. What about after that, though, like once their current bounty of talent has graduated? And as a metropolitan area, Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, and Covington/Newport/Bellevue are all larger than Owensboro, so that's fighting against them in terms of Senior drawing a coach away from a successful program in one of those areas. Senior also does have Catholic to compete with for athletes. Not saying Senior is losing large numbers by actual transfer, but to not acknowledge that having a program just across town that's competed in the state finals for 2 straight years is competition for your program's athletic draw is to have your head buried in the sand. Does Senior have enough going on to make someone like Brandon Smith who is already set up with a working system in a state championship winning program want to scrap what he's got, likely lose all but maybe a couple of their assistants by leaving their current program, move their family to a new city, figure out if they do or don't like the existing coaching staff at the new program and learn how to work with them, and start all over new?

So Birds fans, these were a collection of statements made by Highlands football fans in BGP threads about the state of the Highlands football program under Bob & Hayden Sphire after the 2022 season. Where do things stand right now with these issues?

I just googled Trinity's school motto. It's a latin phrase that translates to "To The Highest Good." LOL, I wonder if X fans get all butthurt over Trinity's arrogance in claiming that their efforts reach the highest good. ? Instead of getting all bent out of shape over something that's got nothing to do with me, I'll just say that the locker room looks totally sick. The campus at St. X looks more like a freakin college campus than a high school. Pretty awesome!

There's nothing there about how finalists are selected for the award, who picks the finalists, or what criteria coaches should use to decide on their votes for Mr. Football. So that seems about as clear as mud.

I feel like I used to have a really similar argument with my algebra 2 teacher in high school when she would dock my grade for not showing my work. If I came up with the right answer, why did I have to show my work? Specific to the Mr. Football award though, I think a lot of the prominence of the award itself is knowing what goes into winning it. Is it about one season of play, or about a career? Was the winner matched up against all players in the state, or just the seniors in the state? Why are there hardly ever any linemen who get the award? Plus, is it more impressive when someone is called "the best in the state" when he only has one coach saying so, or is it more impressive if he has a majority among 15 different coaches saying he's the best in the state? Or how about if he has a majority among 60 coaches? The fact is by not being transparent about what it takes to win the award, the KFCA is watering down the award. I don't disagree with you about it being better to have the coaches choosing the winner instead of the AP, but I think the bigger question is why in the world is it hard for the coaches to come out and give a simple statement about how the winner is selected? And somebody is obviously tallying up the votes to determine the winner. Why then is it secret how many people are voting on the winner? The fact that the coaches are either neglecting to be forthright about their process, or worse are hiding their process, is what makes people end up looking at the award with suspicion. CWB pointed it out, the coaches have only been at this for a small handful of years and they've already gone from at least appearing to be transparent about the process to being conspicuously off the record about their methodology. So what happens when they inevitably do come up with a winner who isn't such an obvious pick? More silence? Towards the end of the AP Mr. Football there were AP writers who came out and said they were intentionally not voting on the award because they didn't know what criteria they were supposed to be using to make their vote. If the KFCA isn't forthcoming publicly about those criteria, then what is supposed to make me confident that they're being clear to their coaches what the criteria are? Are we confident that every coach in the state knows what criteria they're voting on when they cast their vote for Mr. Football? And if the coaches do all know what those criteria are, then why has it already been years since someone has been able to tell us confidently what the criteria are for Mr. Football?

So we don't know who is eligible for the award, we don't know what qualifies someone to be a finalist for the award, we don't know what makes the winner the winner, and we don't know who all is voting for the award. That's not a good look. Actually that's a straight up bad look. Maybe the better title for this thread is "Is the Mr. Football award already as bad with the KFCA running the show as it was when the AP ran it?"

There you guys go, using over a decade of hard facts to try to talk logic.

Okay, I'll say it. I think it's kind of suspicious that you went to the trouble to edit out and the post only portions of the contract page and then you seem reluctant to post the entire page. If you've got the savvy to edit the picture to only show the info you did, then you could easily edit in a quick change to the image so it says "1" in the blank for contract duration instead of "2". Anyone else find that kinda curious, or just me?
