Heard the same....Usually where there is smoke, there's fire!

This is now official. Coach Stockdale has sent out a message to the parents/players.

Any idea what happened or why Coach stepped down?

Not a great year for Central Hardin, but definitely seemed like they improved the back half of the year.  I find it odd to only give a coach a year and then the timing of the dismissal, so it leads me to think there has to be more to it than just results on the field.  I don't know, but I knew a couple of parents in the Nelson County program and they only spoke highly of Coach Stockdale.

Coach Stockdale return to Nelson Co.? Believe the job is still posted.

A first year assistant on staff (who is also a parent of a senior player) worked behind the scenes to get Coach Stockdale fired. He used his influence with the super, made unfounded claims, and ultimately she lacks a spine and despises confrontation. This is a terrible job until the current super is gone. Hate this for a guy who moved his family, brought 8 coaches, and was invested in the kids. Tough break for the program.

Just looked at the list of assistant coaches on Arbiter. Last year Stockdale had an assistant coach named Jack Rachau and there was a senior RB/DB with the same last name. He had an assistant coach named Nathan Jackson and there was a senior WR with the same last name. And then he had an assistant coach named Stephen Hart and there was a junior LB with the same last name.

The first guess is correct. The others just share a last name, not relation. Well done!

Grass ain’t always greener, it seems.

Things going down like this has to make this job less than desireable. If you're the AD at CHHS, who are you picking up the phone and reaching out to about this opening?

That is sad, having a dad on the staff seams to have more cons than pros. This is definitely true if the coach hasn't been coaching with the staff for years. Backstabbers suck!!!

My first call would be to reach out to Coach Mattingly again, who retired before Stockdale.  Say you'd like him to come back for one year while they try to find a new head coach the following year and get his help to do so.  It's late February.  Terrible timing if you are going to push a guy out.
