  1. For a high school athlete, getting to play in a college stadium or arena is a something really special and memorable. It's genuinely a big deal to them. For a high school athlete, having a business tag their name onto a regular season game in a high school stadium where you would normally be playing the game, regardless of whether or not they sponsor it, is not any kind of big deal whatsoever, and probably doesn't even move the needle for the players. This Skyline thing smacks as a money grab. No more, no less.
  2. Does the Skyline Chili dealio do anything to make these games happen? Or are the games already happening and then Skyline comes along and hitches their event wagon to them? Looks like the last BGP thread about the Skyline Showdown was 5 years ago. Have they had Skyline games in the last 5 years? Doesn't seem like word is getting out about it if they have.
  3. He said Massey uses some information from the previous season; he didn't say their preseason rankings are based solely on last season's results.
  4. Would Dan Wooley take the job back at Scott? I was always told he was waiting for Coach Rash to retire at Beechwood in hopes that he could take over at his alma mater, but it would seem that that didn't happen. Would he want to get back into the head coaching ranks at a program where he's already seen success? If I was Scott's athletic director, I would have emails and phone calls in already with Dan Wooley, Ken Morgan, Dave Brossart, Greg Taphouse, Dave Brausch, and Kevin Siple. I'd assume Rash and Marksberry are both happily collecting their retirements, but I suppose it never hurts to ask. Any idea what Zach Deaton is up to nowadays?
  5. The Etown folks I know all talked like they really like Ross Brown. That's why I was taken aback by your "doesn't have the work ethic and motivation". It reads to me as someone who's just salty to see that their coach left. I've worked with a lot of people who left a good situation at work for another job, and that's their right. I always figured, more than likely, there was some situation I didn't know about that made things look better elsewhere. And I don't feel like it's my right to go insulting a person for looking out for #1. But you, you just go ahead and do your thing, man.
  6. I feel like I see you mention Alex Shelton in every open job thread you comment in, lol.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Coach Brown the younger 25-11 in 3 seasons as boss man at Etown? With one state runner up trophy, and two of three seasons ended by the state champions that year? Geeze, what a bum. 🙄
  8. Oh, I see. Glad to find out that's it, and not a case of a fan base having gotten comfortable after a half decade with a coach and his success, and then having unreasonable expectations for the following act once that coach leaves. And then blaming all woes on the successor instead of realizing that when a coaching staff changes over, it'll usually be reflected for a few years in a programs' W/L column.
  9. Same. I'm not sure if that is or isn't the official schedule graphic (aka, put out by the school) but if it is, it's kind of embarrassing to use blatantly poor grammar like that on something that is intended to act as somewhat of an advertisement for a school program. Crittenden is misspelled too.
  10. Looking at the list of new hires, it appears that most were assistant coaches that moved up in the ranks. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, necessarily. On one hand a lot of guys are moving up in the ranks, and on the other hand a lot of guys are calling it quits or getting canned.
  11. I haven't ever know the KHSAA to budge on transfer eligibility on basis of religion. The issue will have to be handled in the courts now since it's a state law and not just a KHSAA bylaw, but are you saying that the Harneys intend to argue in that Cash should be eligible to play sports at CovCath next year on the basis of the transfer being religiously based? LOL The Harneys better start showing up every single blessed Sunday wherever they go to church and tossing double or triple into the collection plate. LOL
  12. Yep. Exactly my point. CovCath seemed to handle things fine with those three and CovCath just moved on once they took their sideshows elsewhere.
  13. KRS 156.070 is the law that was recently changed to govern athletic eligibility for transfers. Athletic eligibility for transfers previously only been governed by the KHSAA and hadn't ever been governed by state law until the law was enacted in 2022. It took effect this past July. The nuts and bolts of the change is KRS 156.070(1)(I): Any student who transfers enrollment from a district of residence to a nonresident district under KRS 157.350(4)(b) shall be ineligible to participate in interscholastic athletics for one (1) calendar year from the date of the transfer.
  14. The Harneys' reputation for being super difficult to deal with is well known info even in my neck of the woods. Interestingly enough CovCath seems to do okay handling prima donnas for however long they park their drama wagons at CovCath, be it Geisler or Mason or Starks. Question though. Doesn't the transfer law that started this past July mean Cash will have to sit his entire sophomore year, given the fact that he played varsity football and basketball, both? I know the law makes it so there is no longer any 'appeal to the KHSAA' situation.
  15. I heard Dubois canned their staff because they had too many players headed to the big programs around the Ville. Not sure if it's true or not, but Trinity is allegedly getting some quality ballers from Dubois.
  16. I think this is a good game for Campbell County and won't be a terrible win for Beechwood if you're looking at RPI. Don't forget, though, if you're a Highlands fan everything Brian Weinrich does is an absolutely horrible idea. The worst.
  17. I feel like every time I've seen them play, there was someone with the last name Cain and someone with the last name Suedkamp on the roster.
  18. I don't know about y'all, but I don't say "it's been a good run" when I'm preparing to hang around and continue my "run". If Central comes open, that's a jobbbbb right there!
  19. I'm not particularly sure either. Just reporting what I heard. Maybe they went back and reviewed things after seeing the move up and found an error?
  20. Announced on Wednesday. Press release said he's a Moore Alum who played at UC and in the NFL. Currently a teacher at Moore, so I guess this is an assistant coach promotion to head coach?
  21. Are we talking about *onfield* logos at the 25's? Or on the sidelines at the 25's? I think I remember a school or two from up that way with logos on the sidelines. Maybe Dixie?
